I recently rewatched a movie and finally figured out why Snape irritated me so quickly. He's like Packard Walsh from the movie The Wraith. The 'love' that Snape had for Lily was the same type as Packard had for Keri.

I agree wholeheartedly. Snape is a schoolyard punk who never got his ass handed to him. That Dumbledore covered for him like a overprotective parent didn't do him any favors.
Here, the character so well established incanon, is merely carried to its logicasl conclusion.
