Perhaps sweet Patrick notices how sad Brendon is without his Jennifer and he knows she still has feelings for him, so he decides to get them back together because he can't stand people being sad and he knows they're most happy together. That's what he wants most; them to be happy because he loves them both so much.
He goes to Bren saying he'll help him get his girl back, but he swears to kill him if he hurts her again.
