Good Chapter. You made a bit of a historical mistake though.
Hitler-Germany was a national-socialist country: extreme left, not extreme right. The main reason for war between Communist Russia and National-Socialist Germany was that they were each other's direct competition.

Author's response

I suggest you actually learn a bit about fascism besides the fact that it was also called 'National Socialism'. Mussolini, who started the formal movement, was an ex-socialist turned extreme nationalist and he used the some of the same ideas to appeal to the working class and lower middle classes. Hitler, and the right-wing group he joined in 1919, did much the same, as did groups in Portugul, Spain, France, Belgium, Hungary, and Romania in the 1920s, and other countries in the 1930s. In many ways, of course, the facists, esp. the Nazis, aped the communists, while Stalin in turn would adopt some of the nationalist rhetoric of fascism, esp. after 1939. However easy it is to conflate the ideas, communism remains at the extreme left, fascism at the extreme right.
