Review for A THOUSAND YEARS

A THOUSAND YEARS

(#) OdinMage 2013-05-09

Overall I'm definitely loving this so far, only the end of the chapter left me with some confusion; you said he was going to go back and merge his soul to his younger self, then all of a sudden he's back in time on some island and still has his (destroyed earlier in the chapter) starship. Not quite sure how you made that jump, but I'm definitely eager for the next chapter anyway. I'm also a little confused on whether Hermione was sent back to merge as well, or not.

Author's response

Heya OdinMage.

OK, I can see that. He’s on that island because it is a secret place where he can reconnoiter. It belonged to his distant ancestors and as it’s hidden from the mundanes, he can establish his place before venturing into the wizarding world again.

Writers have created a number of ways to send the protagonist back in time. Most involve a spiritual transfer, some a memory transfer, and in a few the whole body goes back. My idea is a combination of two of them.

As for the My Little, there are two reasons. First, he triggered the self destruct to prevent the Earth forces from recapturing him, after a thousand years of purposeless existence, he was ready to die. He felt death was better than to be returned to his cage, not to mention what they’d have done to My Little, and second, he’s going to need her for some of his skullduggery.

‘Sides, it’s cool to have a starship. Ask Captain Kirk.

Hermione was not sent back. She is a little girl here and will meet Harry in early October of 85. (I took the basis of that idea from ‘All’s Fair in Love and War’ by Shadrac.)

Hopefully the next couple parts will give you an idea of what I intend.
