Glad to see this one updated. It really is a nice change of pace from Eroninja. It's interesting that the Naruto in The Pride and Eroninja both have elements of canon Naruto, yet are both so different. In Eroninja, Naruto is an empathetic peacekeeper who shares Jiraiya's dream, but at the same time can be so meticulous and deliberate, which is so unlike his canon self. Here in The Pride, though, while Naruto is more selfish and, in some cases, ruthless, he is more impulsive and exhibits the devil-may-care attitude that has come to define his character.
I actually hope every chapter in this story has at least one scene from Konoha, so we can see what's going on there from the pint of view of those who still see Naruto in a positive light. Shikamaru, and to a lesser extent Kiba and Ayame, provided that. I hope to see more of them (especially Ayame) in the future. Also, it seems like Shikamaru has planted the idea of leaving into Ayame's head. Perhaps she'll open a ramen shop in Naruto's new home...
Anyway, thanks for updating this. I'm liking this story more and more.
