Exactly what was the point of Hermione killing Tom when he treated her better than anyone else?
Author's response
That's a tough question. 'Exactly' is such a tricky word, isn't it? I'm afraid I can give you only an 'approximate' answer: Because Hermione has high self-esteem and strength of character and she doesn't trust Tom. She's not so desperate for love and acceptance that she would ally herself with a mass murderer and protect him from discovery simply because he treats her better than anyone else treats her. In other words, she's Hermione Granger, not Lavender Brown.
