"A little girl was the last person to move into the house. The townsfolk found her hiding beneath a home down on 3rd street. We still don't know her name, but I think the people in the stone house are good company for her."
It took me multiple times reading that line to realize... they found a little girl dead under someone's house! Lovely "drabble", I felt like I could step right out into it.
I especially loved the part where they knocked the cross into the creek to say "up yours" to God!
