Review for Rum
I don't have a problem with Faramir very occasionally, and in moments of extreme stress, swearing by the Valar; after all, one of Faramir's Rangers does, though it's more a prayer than a swear, in the book The Two Towers.
Your drabble here is earnestly written, but to me, the characterisation is off -Faramir seems too ordinary; there's very little pride here, very little in the speech pattern that marks him as a Captain of Gondor, son of the Steward of the greatest City of Men in Middle-earth in the Third Age.
I'm not sure if you were depicting the character from the book or the movie. Movie-Faramir is a weaker man, and this drabble might fit him; but he didn't have time to get drunk between Denethor's command and his leading out the doomed charge.
Your technique is good. I hope you write more stories.
