Well, it was only to be expected. Hedwig wasn't immortal after all. But in Harry's place, unless the magical world of Great Britain had a radical change in everyway, no child of mine would ever set foot in that country ever again! I'd want my son to be more then just another sheeple. And that's all that country bred for at least a century before Harry was even born! Now Hogwarts may've been the best magic school in the world at one point but that was long before Dumbledore came to work there. Likely long before even he was born. So there'd have to be radical changes to the country and school before any child of his should be allowed to attend.
