I'm still keeping up with this story with enthusiasm. :o) It continues to be a good read, and the story is going into more depth than I had imagined.
A chapter or two ago, there was a part that talked about how Ed was feeling miserable about Noah being left behind, and it sounded to me like he was in love with her--nice to know I'm right, but before that, why did he tell the pouncing store clerk he had no girlfriend?

Mainly because the store clerk had caught him offguard with the comment. Also, he's not the most open of people, so admitting that he even had a relationship would be rather difficult for him.
I'm glad you're enjoying the story so far! We'll keep the chapters coming, or try to, anyway.
