I'm not generally a fanfiction reader because I lack the patience to find real gems worth reading. (Hee!) My friends usually just link me directly to fanfics they enjoyed.
Today though, I decided to try my luck. By happy chance, this story was the very first Ouran High School Host Club fanfiction I read. It was a very enjoyable piece.
What I admired most about this piece was how it retained the ambiguity of the manga.
Major plus points for me included:
1) A well-crafted story,
2) An engaging writing style
3) Fantastic usage of the English language!
I was hooked from the very first sentence. It's not easy to write something that follows the plotline of the original manga, and at the same time, present a creative and unique story. This author succeeded though.
I look forward to reading more Ouran High School Host Club fiction from evil_whimsey!
p.s. It helps that Kyouya is one of my favorite characters in the manga. Hee!

Lass, I gotta tell you, this review absolutely makes my week. It's a wonderfully articulated response, the kind a writer dreams about getting, and it's just flattering as all get-out.
"King, Queen, Knave" was a troublesome, difficult story to write, and I worried a lot that it would end up being inaccessible to everyone who read it. But your commentary eases my mind considerably, and you can't imagine how pleased I am that you found the style engaging, and the overall story enjoyable.
