It will be interesting to see the effects of Harry's demise on those responsible, the Dursleys and Dumbledore as well as the reactions of those others who are close to the situation. I hate to imagine the reaction of Sirius in prison when he finds out and I doubt Remus Lupin will be too thrilled, either. Oh the other hand, I wonder if this also deliteriously affects Voldemort's spirt?
What would be equally interesting is to see the way this perturbs the timeline in the long-term; without Harry, what are the odds on Hermione dying in that girls' restroom on Halloween? Or any of the other saving efforts Harry has been responsible for. The long-term impact could be quite considerable, esp. since there's now no real check if/when Voldemort returns.
Author's response
The Dursleys and Dumbles will learn the consequences of their actions, but I hadn't considered Sirius or Remus. sigh As for Voldy hmmmm. That actually makes sense. Especially in light of HAP. Fortunately, he's easy to deal with.
Now, for the timeline, one theory is that larger occurrances in nature, are immovable. Since Harry is now dead, there will have to be another with the power. Likely, Neville will get the job, however, nothing in the original prophesey said that 'the one with the power' had to be born in Britain.
On the other hand, Since Neville was placed into Gryffindor for a reason, I'd think that Hermione would be as well protected from trolls as she would be with Harry. All on hs to do is twist the figures a bit. (I believe large corporations call that 'creative accounting'.) Alorkin
