So the nanites are turning them into wizards? That was certainly unexpected... can't wait until they get wands and some basic training.
Speaking of nanites... or rather the way they've become; are they contagous? Could they be transmitted if to people (just as an example) had sex? In a female, would they monitor -- and perhaps modify -- a developing featus? They've also integrated on a cellular level... does that include sperm (and egg) cells; could they also be hereditary (being passed to a offspring from conception)? Will James eventually become (accidently) inflicted with nanites too? What about the others?
One thing... as I understood CoS, Basilisks don't petrify with their gaze; they kill (eg. Myrtle)... the reason people got petrified in CoS, was because they only looked at a reflection or through a camera (which of course would have both prisms and mirror). I suppose a more advanced Basilisk could regualte it's gaze to be harmless or to petrify/un-petrify... but I would think it could also decide to use it's gaze to kill.
