This was an interesting chapter. I'm curious on whether or not you intend to come back to this story later for a staff, as it would seem to be a logical set up. How many more chapters before they head back to Hogwarts is my nxt question. This is a really compelling story and I'm glad that you are continuing to bring new light and twists to it.
