This is a lovely piece. Troy's wandering thoughts are touching, and I can identify with his views on art.
This reads like something from a larger story, and from the summary, it looks like there's at least one piece before it. I'd love to see more about these characters--I don't get a very clear sense of them from just this short story, but it is enough to spark my interest.
