You have wonderful grammar and spelling- I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The insight into Murtagh's thoughts was interesting. Overall, I think this is a wonderful piece, especially for a one-shot. Those are harder to get characterization right because you don't have as much space to introduce various aspects.
