Um...this really seems unrealistic. I mean a girl in the pokemon world, who likes pokemon, and wants to be a trainer, and she doesn't even know about the starting pokemon? And then she goes shopping for one outfit to travel in? She sounds more like a person playing the game and designing a character than someone actually there. And all the name dropping: friends with Gary and Ash, her mom calls Oak to tell Elm rather than just calling Elm.
Actually, a lot of scenes have the weird nonexistent feel where it's like you're making it up as you go along and Rey is a stand-in to explain all the little details. Like because we don't know who her mom's starter is, she doesn't, even though you say she's played with it since she was a little kid and her mom has it with her all the time. (And what's with her mom's name, anyway...)

Okay, first off thank you for the honest review. These are the ones I prefer. There are a couple of reasons I did what I did though.
About the lack of knowledge about starters. Rey did not consider taking the journey from the start. No matter how much she liked the pokemon she knows very little when it comes to it because she always thought she was going to end up being a simple housewife.
I do agree with you on some parts though. The one outfit thing is one thing. I didn't add more simply because in the anime, most of the time, they do not change clothes whatsoever. She does have pajamas, though. I also agree about the calling Oak instead of Elm. I mainly did that because Rey's mother knew Oak better than Elm.
You mentioned some nonexistent parts and Rey being a stand-in. Give me a couple of examples so I can go back and read it for myself and judge.
Lastly, her starter was mentioned. It was a Mareep. She didn't live in a place that offered actual starters. She said it when Rey asked what her starter was. I'll go back and mention that. About the name, that was just a random name I picked and nothing more.
