Admonition is not always there.
Every now and then
You look back on your life and wonder.
What is my purpose?
Why am I here?
Why?
Sometimes
On your journey through life
You’re riding alone, maybe walking,
Trying to decipher this thing we call life and WHAM.
A Mack truck, outta nowhere, slams into you.
Often
But not all the time, people wake up.
They “survive”.
Sometimes you wake up.
And you know nothing
Will be the same.
At Times
There’s no real reason.
Things happen.
You can look, but there is no rhyming scheme.
No blueprint.
No motive.
No explanation except
That this
Is
Life.
Simple Math, complicated answer
Two
Roads.
Separate highways.
Different directions.
Two
People.
Reasonable minds would not venture down this road.
Two
Bodies,
They will intertwine.
Thorns are usually found on roses.
Two
sets of heartbeats
With nothing in common
Except propinquity
And a wish to die.
Two
breaths saved,
That would have been cut short
If not for caring loved ones or careless mistakes.
Take your pick.
Two
Lives.
Will intersect.
Tattering and frayed at the edges,
Ragged. Worn.
They will unravel to expose
A single mutual
Thread.
The Thread
Wish
To make it all stop.
To turn off everything.
To mute all voices.
To cover your ears and
flick the switch.
Long
To be someone completely different.
To lose yourself.
Your face.
Your body.
You personality.
Your soul.
The ugliness.
Desire
A new life.
A new voice.
A new mind.
To throw away all memory and recognition.
Ache
To find a way to stop the pain.
To stop the anger, to stop the detestation
And apathy.
Act
On your impulse.
To cut a little deeper,
To let the water take over.
To end it all.
A/N: So this is a little different. Every chapter will be written this way--in poem form. I got the idea and inspiration from the book Impulse. Some (very few) of the lines might be similar or the same, because yeah, they're that amazing, but I will try not to use any lines that sound like the book too much. I'll keep posting if I have enough people interested in the story.
