I laugh over all of your jokes.
I touch your knee, play with my hair.
I flutter my eyelashes at you.
I dress to impress, to seduce.
I talk to you, sharing my feelings.
I text till my thumb’s turning blue.
I call you for hours in the evening.
I think that I’m falling for you.
We kiss, just one moment, it’s fatal.
I can’t get you out of my head.
Your smell lingers still so I feel safe.
I didn’t plan to fall again so soon.
We hold hands and you’re calling me baby.
We laugh and we cry and we smile.
I struggle to keep my cool distance
While you step right in, holding me tight.
I hold onto you now in a drowning grip,
My knuckles turning white from the thrill.
I ask ‘Will you stay here forever?’
You answer, ‘No babe, but neither will you’
