Haven’t you heard the news?
I’m coming home today.
I’ll find my lover’s arms
And get lost in his embrace.
Haven’t you seen the signs?
It’s not so wonderful.
I’ll sit tight at his side
And wait for morning light.
Can’t you see my eyes?
The way they drown in fear?
I cling to him for life,
Trying so hard to believe.
Why can’t he just leave?
Why can’t you just shut your mouth?
I’m trying so hard to believe
But love never seems to last.
