Looks like Brendon isn't the only one who has a source of information, what all can Pete find out about Deacon and just how bad could her warning be?
1Ambiance
Rayne jumped when the door to her shop slammed open and a very pissed off Pete stomped in, making her relax since it was him and not someone causing trouble. “You need to quit scaring me like that, Peter,” she said as she went back to the paperwork she was leaning over. She looked up when he leaned over her desk. “What do you need this time?”
Pete grabbed his phone from his pocket and started flipping through the pictures on it incase she didn’t know the face of the name he was about to ask her about. “Does the name Deacon Martin mean any-”
“Deacon Martin?” Rayne questioned, interrupting Pete’s words as she dropped her pen to the desk. “The discarded boy toy of William Beckett?”
Pete looked up at her from his phone when he landed on Deacon’s picture. He turned the phone to her so she could see the picture of Deacon, lifting a brow when she snatched the phone and stared at the picture. “I take it you know him?” When she nodded and handed him the phone, they locked eyes. “What do you know about him?”
“That Beckett is looking for him,” she answered and pulled her hair back into a messy bun. “He’s got Brendon Urie doing the searching, since he was the one who was supposed to kill him and apparently failed. Do you need to know why Deacon is supposed to be dead or do you not care?”
“He bit Beckett, that’s all I know,” Pete said with a shrug as he pulled up a chair and sat across from her at her desk.
Rayne shook her head and yawned. “Sorry, I had a long night last night. Anyway, you never really got to know that much about Beckett, so incase you haven’t figured it out yet, Beckett absolutely loves to torture those who work for him. Did you ever hear of Ryan Ross?” When Pete shook his head, Rayne reached down and opened a filing drawer, pulling out a manilla folder. She laid it down in front of him, upside down to her so he could see it, and opened it, showing off the picture and papers telling Ryan’s story. “This is Ryan Ross.”
“Could he be any skinnier?” Pete whispered as he looked at the faint indication of Ryan’s ribs and the hip bones that showed prominently.
“You have no room to talk,” Rayne scoffed as she closed the folder once Pete had taken a short look at it. “Anyway,” she said as she put the file back in its spot and shut the filing drawer. “Ever since Deacon was discarded Ryan’s back to being where he was before Deacon got picked up by Beckett; he’s Beckett’s favorite boy toy again.”
“And you’re going where with this?” Pete half-demanded, his impatience getting the better of him as always.
“You can always try to find someone else who works for Beckett who will sell information to you,” Rayne said sweetly, even though her eyes darkened as a hint to her anger. “And who won’t in turn let Beckett know where you come anytime you need anything related to him.”
Pete hid the fact that the look scared him shitless with an apologetic expression. “Sorry... Please finish?”
Rayne’s eyes stayed darkened by her anger but she continued on for him. “When Beckett took in Deacon, Ryan was replaced, and the thing about Ryan is, he’s possessive over Beckett, so this started a hatred for Deacon. And Deacon quickly caught on, and so he avoided Ryan when he could. He’s not the violent type, so any chance to avoid an argument, he’ll take it. He thought he was being good about hiding it, but Beckett soon noticed it and decided he wanted to have a little fun. He told Deacon that he was calling Ryan to the room, and when Ryan got there, Deacon was supposed to seduce Ryan, but Deacon refused. He knew that it would upset Ryan if he tried anything and one thing about Deacon is, he likes to avoid confrontation.”
“So this pissed off Beckett because it meant he had to miss out on a show of two of his Boys, which to him are the two hottest ones?” When Rayne nodded, Pete shook his head and picked at his nails. “So, how did Beckett find Deacon?”
“What is your sudden interest in this kid?” Rayne asked, her curiosity getting the better of her. “I haven’t seen you for almost a full month and then out of nowhere you’re in here asking about a discarded boy toy of Beckett’s, who is being searched...for... What are you not telling me?”
Pete looked up at her from his nails, raising a brow. “I would think you of all people would know why I want someone thrown away by Beckett. I’m hoping I can find him, and see how loyal he still is to his Master. If he’s willing to betray Beckett, I’ll find the bastard and kill him, and then give this Deacon kid a new home since obviously he won’t have one.”
“You don’t know where he is?” She questioned, narrowing her eyes at him. “How did you hear of him?” She asked when he shook his head. “And where did you get his picture?”
“Another one of my resources sent a message to everyone he knew and it hit my phone. Said there was a sweet piece of ass hand-picked by Beckett roaming the streets unprotected. They’re looking for him for sex, I’m looking for him for revenge. I came to you to see if he was anything worth looking into.”
Rayne stared at Pete, trying to read him, see if she could pick up on anything that said he was lying to her, but he knew better than to lie to her, so she didn’t think he would lie; it would be stupid of him. “He’s a good guy, he just got mixed in with the wrong crowd... He was only turned early last year, so he wasn’t with Beckett long, but how loyal he is to Beckett, that’s all up to him to say, if you find him.”
Pete nodded as he thought about what she said. “So, where did Beckett find Deacon?”
Rayne leaned back in her chair and folded her arms over her stomach, looking up at the ceiling. “Well, as I said, Deacon hasn’t been with Beckett for long, but he was human when Beckett saw him. Deacon was with this guy, a real fucking ass that I personally got to drain to erase anything tracking back to Deacon. Deac went over to Tom’s apartment to surprise him since he got off of work a couple of hours early, but he found him lip-locked with the guy upstairs so they got into it and Deacon left with a broken wrist and a busted lip.”
“Did Tom break Deacon’s wrist? Or did Deacon break it hitting someone or something?” Pete asked, curious since she just said not too long ago that Deacon wasn’t the violent type and yet now he had a broken wrist after walking in on his boyfriend cheating on him.
Rayne growled, but not at Pete, as her eyes went blood red. “The fucker blamed his cheating on Deacon, saying it was his fault, so Deacon went to slap him, Tom grabbed his arm, twisted it a little too hard and didn’t even care. So he left and was walking down the sidewalk, trying to hail a cab so he could get a ride to the hospital. Well sadly for Deacon, Beckett was in the area and saw him and apparently it was lust at first sight so he made the cab drivers blind to Deacon and made his move, offering him a ride to the hospital, but they had to walk down a block to his car.”
“And that was where Deacon sealed his fate, accepting help from Beckett,” Pete said with a small frown as he realized he was starting to feel sympathy for Deacon. “Let me guess, Beckett went into his mind, found out how to woo him and acted like the perfect guy?”
Rayne nodded. “Exactly. That’s how Beckett works, and Deacon didn’t find out until after Beckett had him marked as one of his Beckett’s Boys.”
“And yet he stayed and didn’t even try to run,” Pete mused as he looked at his hands. “Wonder why...”
Rayne shrugged and grabbed her pen and went back to the paper work she had been working on before he mentioned Deacon. “Just a fair warning, Peter... If you find Deacon,” Rayne brought her eyes up to his face, “don’t keep him around if he can find out where he is... He’ll call Beckett to him.”
