To see one such as this, one so close to unassailable as any, who walked the wilds unchecked and nigh untouchable . . .
With a disembodied wail, another far-off rocket pierced the heavens, lighting the sky with starburst white and gold.
Rin flinched, and turned her face into his fur.
He perused the scent of saltwater, and slid careful clawed fingers through dark, unruly hair.
