Interesting, we still can't tell where Dumbledore will land in his dealings with Harry and the others. He will at least try to play the guilt card several times (protection of the Dursleys, protection of the remaining DA students, etc)Author's response
Heh heh.. Great! That's exactly what I was aiming for - the 'not knowing what's really going on behind those twinkling eyes of his'.
Is he just so used to leading that he can't let go of the control? Is he just in denial, or so clueless about the day-to-day effects of his choices? Are his plans competent and doing exactly what they need to (as risky as they are)?
He wouldn't be the first to decide that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.
When reading the canon books, I bought into the whole 'kindly grandfather' that Harry believed him to be, and was kinda annoyed at how he was revealed as more flawed in DH. However, once I started in on fanon, the depth of his manipulations showed everything in a different light.
I think it all comes down to the way you want to interpret situations; what you're looking for, you can easily find.

go minerva! despite his performance, i doubt that dumbles truely realizes or appreciates what he has done. i think he's appearing to give in now but has plans to get harry back under his control by making him think that he has seen the error of his ways. i hope that minerva sticks to her guns about snape and her desire to stick up for harry. im hoping that dumbles' faith in snape will be thrown in his face evil smirk read ya later!Author's response
I think Minerva had a bit of a wakeup call after Harry's rant.
As to why she was more prepared to listen to him then when not earlier, I'm betting it was because she was more sympathetic to him after he had just lost Sirius - she can't have overlooked his moping in the days following the DoM.
Then after hearing what he had to say, she realised that she'd placed her faith (and her thinking for herself) completely in Dumbledore's hands, and decided to check things out for herself.
I'm hoping Snape's chickens come home to roost as well. I mean really, what adult should be able to get away with what he's been doing in that potions class for years?Thoughts of Pudding

Is this a revise and repost? Or have you posted more elsewhere?Author's response
Just the 8 chapters so far.
Pretty much every chapter I upload needs editing as soon as it's uploaded. The odd typo I can live with, the screwy formatting, having words blended together that shouldn't be (and weren't in the sourc file) I can't.
If there are some tricks on how to get it working the first time, every time I don't know them sadly.Thoughts of Pudding

I'm most impressed. I've read all kinds of Harry/Minnie/Dumbles interactions, but this one has a new and improved air to it, and I look forward to Harry's development over the summer. Welcome to Sweden!
VanirAuthor's response
Oh wow, Vanir! I'm so glad to see you on board. I might ask for your help a bit later with a few Swedish phrases, and the like if you're up for it?
I'm looking forward to getting back into Midnight Sun, but if I did that now, it'd take even longer for updates. :)

Considering how much I like Harry/Luna I nearly didn't click on this story, but than I decided, 'Give it a chance, girl,' and what do you know, I love it. That seems to be happening more and more lately. I sometimes find myself disappointed at stories that I thought I'd like and excited by stories that I didn't.
I really am excited by this story and was about to cry when I saw no arrow for the next chapter. I can't wait for the next chapter, I'm bouncing in my seat, but that could have also been the tea I had...Irish Breakfast after midnight...
I love Minerva, and Moody, and Luna, and even Mr. Lovegood (I'm not going to even attempt to spell his first name...I'd fail miserably and I'm too lazy to reach down and disturb my pile of HP books to grab Deathly Hollows from the bottom of the stack to check the spelling).
I love seeing a true AU fic set after OotP (or at the end of it) that keeps to canon (if that makes any sense). Is this going to include the reason Slughorn was so important? How about the DHs? Fleur? Griphook? I've been thinking way too much about this... I don't actually want you to answer my questions in a reply, answer them by writing them in the story.
Okay, now that I've written a book instead of a review, update soon.Author's response
Your wish is my command.. chapter 9 uploaded! :)
Thanks for the review, and I'm glad you're liking the story so far.
I'm not sure how much of canon I'll be keeping yet. I suppose I have it in mind to follow alng with it until I have a reason to deviate from Jo's path. As for Fleur, since they aren't at the Burrow this summer, they won't have much cause to run into her - but who knows. Gang aft agley! :DThoughts of Pudding

This was a great part here, and this Minnie is the one I always wanted to see, the hard nosed witch that will not put up with Snape's crap at all anymore. Albus seems to just not be able to let it go though, so will be curious to see what happens next with him and the people on the light who oppose his methods.
