In Language Arts
This Afternoon,
We had a
Question to answer.
Sort of piggy-backs off what
I defined life to be
Yesterday
On the bus.
Write about what you think your life will be like when you are old.
Like I wrote,
I can't answer that question
For there is no definite answer.
I would
Like to think
That I'll live
An easy life
With Someone special
In my life,
And,
Kids,
And,
A beautiful house,
And
A job I can tolerate.
Like I wrote,
There are other possibilities.
Like I didn't write,
The possibilities themselves.
Who's to say
I'm wrong as fuck?
Who's to say
I won't be in rehab?
Who's to say
I won't be an alcoholic,
Burping and hiccupping my way down the sidewalk?
Who's to say
I won't think about
It
Everyday?
Who's to say
I won't grab a sawed off shotgun
Or
A bottle of happy pills
Or
A knife
And
Bring myself some form
Of piece of mind
And
Piece of fearful anticipation?
Well,
From what I've read
And What I'm told
I'm to say.
