I was having a marvelous time. My nerves had calmed and as I sat in the darkened hall watching the show I held on tightly to Gerard's hand feeling peaceful and content. I had to admit I was disappointed when the band didn't win an award but Gerard had whispered in my ear that it didn't matter. He said that they'd been nominated and that was honor enough.
At the end of the show the band was directed backstage to an area where journalists and photographers waited. It wasn't until we reached this area I began to feel nervous again. Luckily the woman who was set to interview Gerard and I had a genuine smile that put me at ease. She introduced herself as Sarah Longview from AP magazine. We took seats in a backstage room and she began.
"Thank you for this opportunity." She said smiling at Gerard then me. "I was told the chances of getting this interview were slim."
Gerard laughed, "Actually it was Laura that agreed to it."
Sarah glanced over at me. "Really? Well, thank you."
"Thank you." I said warmly.
"Off the record." Sarah said turning off her tape recorder. "I just want to say that I’m sure you're aware there have been some articles printed recently that don't paint you in a very good light."
"I've read one of them." I answered. Gerard turned to me looking puzzled.
"You did? How come I haven't seen it?"
I tried to make light of the situation, "I just saw it this morning. It's no big deal."
"It is a big deal." He said turning to give me his total attention. "I don't want anyone saying anything bad about you."
Sarah spoke up, "That is why I wanted to interview you both. I know that up until now Laura hasn't spoken to the press. Actually little is known about her. This is her chance to let people know who you are. A chance to share your thoughts about being married to Gerard Way."
I took hold of Gee's hand then spoke to Sarah, "I would like to do just that. I want people to know how happy we are."
Sarah surprised me by saying, "I saw you when you first arrived tonight. You looked terrified but I noticed that as soon as your husband took your hand and whispered something to you your whole demeanor changed. It was easy for me to see the love you two share for each other. That is why I requested this interview."
I liked this woman immensely. "I was terrified." I admitted. "But it was important to me to be there at Gee's side."
Sarah nodded, "Shall we start?" She picked up her recorder and waited.
Gerard and I both nodded that we were ready.
"So I guess the first question I want to ask is how did you two meet?"
Gerard spoke up. "Actually I saw a photograph of Laura before I ever met her. She and Mikey's wife are best friends and she is the one who showed me the photo." He squeezed my hand tightly, "I knew when I saw that photo that Laura was going to be a very important part of my life."
I smiled deeply touched that he was sharing this story.
"Laura, what did you think of Gerard the first time you saw him?" Sarah asked.
I thought back a moment letting my mind travel back to that day. Would Gerard even remember? "I had just started working for Reprise and was in the office filling out paperwork. Mikey and Gerard came in and walked through without stopping. I remember thinking that Gerard was the most beautiful man I'd ever seen."
Gerard rolled his eyes, "Beautiful?"
I nodded, "Beautiful."
"It was raining that day and I looked like a drowned rat.” he kidded.
So he did remember. "I didn't think you would remember that day. I never even spoke to you."
He smiled, "I didn't speak to you but I saw you. Your hair was up in a bun and you were chewing on the end of your pencil."
I was shocked and pleased at his memory. We stared at each other until Sarah interrupted our thoughts.
"So how long before you both started seeing each other?”
Gerard looked at her, "I'm sure you're aware I was engaged to someone at the time. While I never meant for it to happen I fell head over heels in love with Laura. What is meant to be can't be changed. I knew I had to end that relationship because my life was meant to be spent with Laura at my side."
I felt tears in my eyes. Listening to his words no one would ever guess all that he and I had been through together to get to this moment in time. "And I knew that Gerard was my one true love." I said softly. "I felt it in my heart."
"So you both decided to marry quickly." Sarah said, "That is very romantic."
"We belonged together." Gerard said simply. "There was no reason to wait."
"And you married in Vegas, correct?"
I answered this time, "We did. It was a nice small ceremony with family and friends."
"Are you still working for Reprise?" Sarah asked me.
This was a little harder to answer. "I am but not at the moment. I'm enjoying spending time with my husband on the road."
"Having Laura with me on tour is perfect." Gerard said. "Knowing that she is waiting for me to come off stage is the best feeling."
"And after this tour? Do you two have any particular plans?" Sarah asked.
"Buying a house." Gee answered. "We have a small apartment right now but we're looking foreword to buying a home."
"Any plans for children in the near future?"
The question caught me off guard. I looked into Gerard's eyes and he smiled. "Laura and I have discovered that each day we're together holds a surprise." I loved that way he answered the question.
“So tell me a little about your lives together. What interests do you share?” Sarah asked with a smile.
“Well we like movies.” I answered trying to keep a straight face. My poor husband had just been taking a sip of water when I answered and he started to choke. It took all my willpower not to giggle. Finally he stopped coughing.
“She’s right we’re really into movies.”
Sarah was giving us a puzzled look. “Really? What kind?”
Gerard’s arm around me tightened and I knew he was waiting for me to answer. Guess he figured I’d started this so it was up to me to continue.
“Oh all kinds of movies. Horror, Sci Fi, comedies. I can still remember the first movie we ever watched together was “Field of Dreams.”
“Love that movie.” Gerard said stroking my neck with his fingertips.
Sarah smiled, “It is a classic.” Sarah agreed. “If you build it they will come.” She happily recited the movie tag line.
I couldn’t help it I was feeling so saucy, “Is that how that line goes?” I asked in my best innocent voice.
Gerard really needed to stop taking sips of water. As soon as the words left my mouth he started coughing again. I leaned over and kissed his cheek, “You okay, Honey?”
Sarah was momentary distracted by a younger man who broke into our conversation to ask her a question. Gerard took the opportunity to lean over and whisper in my ear. “Stop that, Woman.”
“Stop what?” I whispered back, “I was just asking a question. I’m pretty sure that’s not how you recited that line to me.”
“You know damn well how I recited that line to you.” He glanced over to make sure Sarah was still distracted.
“So is it still true?” I whispered, “If I touch you will you still cum?”
“Oh Sugar, you know that answer.” He kissed my lips gently. By the time we broke apart Sarah was smiling waiting to continue the interview.
We answered a few more questions and then the interview was over. As we stood to leave Sarah shook my hand and leaned over to whisper in my ear. "Congratulations."
I must have looked surprised because she laughed, "I will not breathe a word to anyone but believe me I have interviewed so many couples and I can see truth not in their answers but in their eyes. You and Gerard have a love that so many never have the chance to experience."
"Thank you." I said touched by her comment.
Gerard and I then agreed to pose for a few photos together. He stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I leaned back and slightly let my head rest on his shoulder. The photographer snapped pictures and then we met up with the rest of the band.

"Hey, are you two going to the after party?" Mikey asked as soon as we reached the spot where he and Alicia were standing.
Gerard looked over at me. "How are you feeling?"
"I feel great." I answered happily.
"So do you want to go to the party?"
"Sure." I nodded, "If everyone else is going."
"We are, for sure." Alicia answered. As we walked towards the waiting limo she asked me how the interview had gone.
Gerard answered for me, "It went great. Laura did a wonderful job answering the questions."
I giggled, "What? You were worried, weren’t you?"
He smiled, "Not really but I wasn't sure what the interview was going to ask."
"I liked her." I said truthfully "She told me she could tell how much we love each other by the look in our eyes."
Gerard put his arm around me as we walked towards the limo. As we stood waiting for the rest of the band members to appear he whispered in my ear. "I can still remember that day like it was yesterday. You looked so fucking cute sitting at that desk that I hated myself for wanting you."
I put my arms around his neck so I could speak softly into his ear, "Never say that."
"It's true. I wanted you but I knew in my heart what that meant. It meant bringing you into the hell that is my life."
"Being in your life has made my life complete. Never forget that." I kissed him softly.
"Break it up you two." Bob said leaning down and getting into the limo.
Gerard and I broke apart and got into the limo with everyone else. So far this night had been perfect. I really should have known it couldn't stay that way.

The party was loud and very crowded. Still I was having a wonderful time being introduced to so many famous people in the music business. Gerard held my hand as he led me around the huge hall. I could tell most of the people he introduced me to were curious about me. I suppose from an outsider’s point of view it seemed strange that Gee had broken up someone and married me so quickly. I did my best to appear carefree but in truth I was nervous again. I wasn’t sure why but there was a little nagging feeling that was putting me on edge.
I had just excused myself to head towards the restroom with Alicia when I noticed Eve standing across the room glaring in my direction. Alicia had noticed her too.
"Bitch at eleven o'clock." She nodded her head in Eve's direction.
"I see her." I answered.
When we came out of the bathroom she wasn't there. That was because she was now standing talking to Gerard, Mikey and Bob. I hurried to Gee's side and put my arm around his waist.
"Hello, Laura." She greeted me coldly. "How have you been?"
"I'm just fine, Eve." I answered.
I wondered who the man was at Eve's side. He looked vaguely familiar. Eve smiled answering my unspoken question.
"This is Miles Thomas." She said in way of an introduction. I knew the name. He was one of the hottest record producers around. "Miles, this is Laura. Gerard's wife." Oh did 'wife' drip venom.
He nodded to me then went back to speaking to Gerard about some music project. I wasn't sure what they were discussing but Gee looked interested. I noticed that Eve looked bored and angry. It was hard not to smile at that. Finally Miles excused himself to get another drink and Eve spoke to Gerard.
"So, is married life everything you thought it would be or do you miss your old ways?"
Shit, this woman couldn't play nice for long. I felt Gee tense beside me. "Laura and I are very happy."
"Really?" Eve laughed, "I guess it must not take much to make her happy."
I couldn't believe the nerve of this woman. "I have more than I need to make me happy." I said narrowing my eyes.
Eve took a step towards me. "Come on Laura, you and I both know the truth. Shit, half of this room knows the truth about your husband."
“The truth?” I repeated. “Eve, you wouldn’t know the truth if it bit you on the ass.”
Mikey smirked as did Bob. Gerard stood silent.
Eve glared at me then turned to speak to Gerard, “So how long are you gonna stay married? A year perhaps? That should be long enough to make it look legit.”
“I love my wife with my whole heart.” Gerard ground out.
Eve laughed mirthlessly, “Sure you do. Did you forget I know you, Gee? I know why you wanted to marry. Fuck, the record company demanded you marry to stop those ugly little rumors about your sexual preferences. I was in on it, remember?’
Shit, I hated this woman. “Eve, you do realize how bitter you sound, right?” I asked before Gerard could speak.
She turned on me in anger, “Bitter? You think I’m bitter because I didn’t have to marry this sorry excuse for a man?”
I started to shake I was so pissed, “You sound like a bitter bitch.” I spat. “Sorry, but that’s the truth. Gee didn’t have to go through with the marriage to you because he and I found each other. We fell in love.”
She rolled her eyes, “Yeah, he fell in love with you, Laura. God, how delusional are you? What let me guess he actually gets it up occasionally just to make you believe you have a real marriage.”
Gerard tried to pull me away but I stood my ground. “Oh, Honey one of us is delusional but it ain’t me. Just between us we have a very healthy sex life. If he couldn’t get it up when he was with you I’m sure it’s cause your such a frigid bitch.”
Eve moved quickly towards me but Bob grabbed her and pulled her back. “Play nice.” He whispered.
“I don’t believe you.” Eve spat at me. “I know how he is in bed.”
“Come on.” Gerard said trying to pull me away again. I twisted out of his hold.
“Obviously you don’t.” I answered. “And you have no idea how fucking happy that makes me.” This time when Gee tried to lead me away I went with him. We walked across the room without stopping until we reached the door.
“We’re leaving?” I asked.
“I want to get the fuck out of here.” He answered. I followed him outside and stood waiting while he arranged for a limo. I hated that Eve had ruined his mood.
“Gee, do we have to go back to the bus? Can we stay in a hotel tonight?” At first I thought he’d say no but he stopped and considered my request.
“Sure. That’s a good idea.” He took out his cell and called Mikey who was still inside. I listened as he told his brother our plans.
Once we were inside the limo he asked the driver to take us to a nice hotel of his choosing. Gee sat back in the seat and closed his eyes.
“Why do you care what she says?” I asked softly.
He didn’t open his eyes and I began to wonder if he’d answer. Finally he spoke, “What she said was true."
I stared at this profile in the semidarkness. "Gee, I'm sorry but I just can't feel bad about that. The fact that you couldn't 'perform' with her makes me fucking happy." I let me hand rest gently on his thigh, "I don't want you to get it up for anyone but me."
He slowly opened his eyes and turned to me. "If I live to be a hundred I don't think I'll ever full understand what it is about you that changed me. You've changed my life, fuck, you've given me a life."
I giggled wanting our earlier mood to return, "So husband, gonna get it up for me when we get to the hotel?" I teased.
He covered my hand with his and moved it to the budge in his slacks. "Already there, Sugar."
