Gerard opened his eyes and looked over to the sleeping form laying beside him. She looked so beautiful with her hair falling in her face and her nose twitching every now and then. Almost like an angel.
He slowly got out of bed, careful not to wake her, and reached for the discarded pair of pants laying on the floor. He quickly pulled them on and walked quietly over to the door. Glancing over his shoulder one last time, he quietly pulled the door open and walked out, letting the door shut behind him.
After his foot left the last stair, he walked over to the closet and grabbed his coat before walking out the front door. As the Autumn air filled his lungs, he let his eyes wander around to the few faces walking the streets in the early morning hours. Seeing as how it was only 6:30 in the morning, there were very few people out which gave him the freedom to wander the streets as he pleased.
As he passed the little boutiques and different shops, he caught sight of various couples and lovers holding hands and looking at each other with love clearly visible in their eyes. He quickly stole a glance at the gold engagement ring resting on his finger, which made him begin to think.
Lyn-Z never held hands with him in public because she wasn't a very huge fan of PDA. She always said the they were fine going the same old steady speed they have been since they met. But Gerard always insisted that nothing would change if she let him hold her every now and then. Again, Lyn-Z said no.
Which led him to realize, sex was very vacant in their reltionship. Whenever they did have sex, it would always be at her speed and would only last until she came. Never did she give any thought to his needs. Only once in a blue moon would he be able to take control and lead. And whenever he was in the mood, she wouldn't give him anything except a quick hand-job and a kiss but that would never do the trick. It didn't last.
But he did love Lyn-Z. She made him happy and she was there to pick up the pieces when the love of his life punctured his heart and left him to bleed.
The love of his life.
Now that's a different story. Her name was Rachel Thomas and she was the most gorgeous thing he ever saw. She could always put a smile on his face even at his most depressing moments. Whenever someone put him down, she would defend him until she was blue in the face. That's how much she loved him.
She was the reason he quit drinking. He didn't want to loose her. She was his inspiration for all the great things in his life. He owed everything to her.
He could remember the day she left like it was yesterday. How he woke up and saw her packing all her belongings into a suitcase. The look she gave him right before she walked out the door. The last three words she said to him before she was gone forever.
I love you.
But that was in the past. Now he's focused on his future and his new bride-to-be. He can't deny that he doesn't still love Rachel. He still has a very special place in his heart for Rachel. Hell, he may even love her more than Lyn-Z. In fact, he's certain he loves her more than Lyn-Z but it doesn't make a difference. She's long gone now.
He sighed as he stepped of the pavement and crossed the street to reach the little coffee shop. He said his order and waited patiently for the waitress to give him his drink. After he got what he came for, he made to walk out the door but something made him stop rght in his tracks.
Standing in the doorway was the brunette vixen that hanuted his dreams.
"Gerard?"
Her voice flooded his ears and he accidentally dropped his coffee, spilling it on the sidewalk.
"Rachel?"
