"So?"
Gerard lifted his gaze from the hardwood floor and looked into Rachel's questioning face, "So what?"
"So," Rachel smiled, "What have you been up to in the last eight years? It's not like I knew where you were to get in touch with you."
Gerard nodded as he fumbled with his fingers, "Nothing really. Except the comic book and My Chem. I'm still the same old Gerard I was back when you knew me."
"Same old Gerard?" Rachel asked, "So does that mean you still drink? Because I told you how I felt about you doing it back then, don't think I won't yell at you now."
"No," smiled Gerard, "I've been sober for about two years now. I know for a while it got really bad when you..."
Gerard didn't have to finish his sentence for Rachel to know what he was talking about. She knew she'd have influenced his drinking one way or another. She just wished it was different.
"I really am sorry, you know."
"I know," Gerard rose from his spot on the couch to look out the window, "Where did you go? I asked eveyone where you were, no one knew. I felt so fuckin' abandoned after you left. I even considered slashing my fuckin' wrists just to make it stop."
Rachel stood from her spot and walked over to him, gently placing a hand on the small of his back, "I had to get out of there, Gee. Too many memories from that old house. It didn't feel right being there anymore, so I took the first chance I got and boarded the earliest train that morning. I couldn't ask you to go with me and leave all you had behind. I couldn't do that to you."
"I would've gone with you," whispered Gerard, "I would've left everything behind just to have a chance of living my life with you. I would've done anything for you."
Rachel was slightly shocked by his words. Never was Gerard so upfront about his feelings before. Usually he kept them low-key and pushed away people when they got too close, even her, but here he was now, spilling his guts to her.
"Really?" asked Rachel as she slowly wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Yeah," replied Gerard, "You meant so much to me then... now."
Gerard placed one of his hands on her elbow and the other under her chin as he slowly brought her lips to his. When their lips touched, a surge of electricity rushed over Gerard, giving him an alive feeling he hadn't felt in years.
Rachel quickly opened her eyes and pulled away, biting her lip, "Gerard... I can't. You're engaged to be married. What about Lindsay? How would she feel?"
Gerard shook his head, "She doesn't make me feel the way you do. She doesn't love me like you do. She's not you, Rachel. I need you too much to let you go again. This is a sign from some place. Don't let it fade."
Without hesitation, Gerard crashed his lips back down on Rachel's, shoving her up against the wall and gripping her hips. Rachel quickly responded and wrapped her arms around his neck as he picked her up.
Pulling away, only for a moment, Gerard asked, "Where's your bedroom?"
A/N - Sorry for the shortness of this chapter. I just wanted to get it out before Saturday. The next one will be smut-filled and longer than this one. I will be adding Mikey and the other boys to the story in a few chapters so keep an eye out for them. Thanks for reading and don't forget to R&R.
