OCTOBER 31, 1998

"Honey please come in here." Mrs. Andrews called out to her husband. The Andrews have been married for almost 40 years. They had 4 kids and 3 granddaughters. They were known in their town as the nicest people. Mrs. Andrews is 78 and Mr. Andrews is 82. But unlike other old people they were very active. "What is it baby? I'm back here trying to entertain the kids." Mr. Andrews screamed. Every Halloween they threw a little party to get the neighborhood kids together and out the streets. "I need help here in the kitchen." She yelled back to him. Mrs. Andrews was trying to get the candy apples together but that was more Mr. Andrews specialty. He knew how much caramel and nuts to put on the apples. "I'm coming honey." As he made his way to the kitchen he saw Mandy, Dean, and Dirk sitting on a chair with a big book. "Hey what you kids got there?" He asked them. Dean grabbed the book from Mandy. "Oh it's nothing Mister Andrews. Just a book that my mother gave me to show to my friends." He smiled at Mr. Andrews. "Okay kids just have some fun." He walked away and made his way into the kitchen. "Why did you lie to him Dean?" Mandy asked him. Dean was older then all of them. He is 16, Mandy is 15 and so is Dirk. "He shouldn't be in our business anyway. His old ass wouldn't understand." Dirk got up from the chair and put the book down. "Watch the book. I need to find the items that we need. This is going to be a Halloween that no one will forget." Mandy looked at Dirk and they smiled at each other. Mrs. Andrews came out the kitchen with a big metal tray in hand. "Come and get some candy apples." She yelled. The kids all stopped what they were doing and ran to the table where the tray laid.

Dean walked up the stairs into the attic. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned for years. He held his nose as the wind blew a foul smell through the open window. "Damn these old people need to hire a damn maid." He began to look around through some boxes. He pushed them aside when he didn't find what he was looking for. Finally he opened a box that read "Halloween supplies." He dug through the box hoping that he could find the items that he needed. Finally he found them. "Yes. This is going to be interesting."

"Okay kids its time for the scavenger hunt. I will give you all a list and you will split up into groups of three. The first group to find the items will be awarded. But you all know the catch, the lights will be off and you will only get one little flashlight. So be careful and have fun." Mr. Andrews spoke as his wife handed out the list. "Okay now that you all have your lists here we go. Ready, set, and go." The kids began to run through the big house hoping to win that prize. "Come on this is our chance." Dean grabbed Mandy's arm and Mandy grabbed Dirk's arm and off they went. They made their way up to the attic where everyone was forbidden to go. They slowly crept up the stairs so that they wouldn't make any noise. As they opened the door it made a squeak. "I don't think that we should do this Dean." Mandy told him. Dean looked at her and smiled. "Calm down there little girl. This is just for fun. This book is so fake and it won't work so just chill." Dirk let out a laugh. "Yeah Mandy don't be a little punk." Mandy crossed her arms. Her face turned apple red and now she was determined to do it. "Give me that damn book." She grabbed it from Dean and made her way to the middle of the room. She opened the book to the folded page and read it carefully. "So Mandy what does it say to do first." She looked at the picture and felt a chill go down her back. "Mandy sometime tonight please." Dean bothered her. "Chill okay. We need to make sure that we get this right." She handed the book to Dean. "Who has the chalk?" She looked at Dirk and Dean. "I do." Dirk handed her the white chalk. She knelt down and she began to draw. First she drew a straight line. Then going up and down she drew another straight line through the first one. Then she drew a triangle right in the middle of the intersecting lines. In the four little pieces that the triangle was cut into from the straight line she drew four symbols. The first was what looked like devil ears, the second was the numbers 666, then the next was a sword, and then the last was what looked like a blood drop. "Okay Mandy now it says that two people must prick their finger and pour the blood into the drawn blood drop." Mandy looked at them. "I'm not doing that part. You two better do it." Dean pulled the pocketknife out his back pocket and opened it. "You go first Dirk." He handed him the knife. Dirk lifted the knife into the air and brought it down pricking his middle finger. The blood began to pour. He put his finger over the drawn blood and let his blood drop onto the picture. "Now you go Dean." Dean took the knife and did the same thing that Dirk did. "Now it says for all three of us to chant these words "From up here on Earth to the depths of hell, bring forth all that have been condemned to the pits, and let us bring you back to your home here on Earth." They all looked at each other and smiled. "So lets go." Dean, Mandy, and Dirk all gathered around the image on the ground and they began. "From up here on Earth to the depths of hell, bring forth all that have been condemned to the pits, and let us bring you back to your home here on Earth." They looked around the room. "I told you that it wouldn't work. This is a bunch of bullshit. Let's get out of here." Dean made his way to the door. He turned the knob and pulled. It wouldn't open. He yanked the doorknob harder. "What's wrong there Dean, weak and can't get the door open?" Dirk mocked him. "Kiss my ass nigga. The door is locked shut." He moved out the way. "Let me try." Dirk pulled the knob but the door still didn't open. "I think that old man locked us in here. Move out the way." Dean pushed Dirk out the way. He put his ear to the door. "What are you doing?" Mandy asked. "Trying to hear if that old ass fart is out there laughing at us. I know he locked us in here." He leaned his ear closer to the door. Then he heard something on the opposite side of the door. It sounded like a little girl laughing. "Who is there?" He asked. Mandy looked at Dirk. "I'm scared." Dirk took her hand. "It's okay someone is just playing a prank on us." Dean took his ear away. "There is some girl out there laughing at us." He leaned against the door again. "Who is there? Let us out of here now." Dean yelled. "Hehe. You stupid little fuck. You have done something that you shouldn't have done." The girl spoke. "Now you will endure the wrath of the condemned ones." Dean jumped as he heard a noise from the other side. He pulled his ear away from the door. He held the side of his head. When he pulled his hand away blood was pouring out. "Ouch." He said and then he fell on the floor. "Oh my God." Mandy screamed. "Oh please he is such a joker. He's only playing with us." Dirk leaned down and began to shake Dean. "Okay the joke is over. You are now scaring Mandy." He put his fingers against Dean's wrist to feel for a pulse. But there wasn't one. "He's dead." Dirk told Mandy. She looked around the room for another way out. "We have to get out of here. This is getting crazy." Mandy walked over to the window. "We can probably jump." Dirk went over to the window and looked down. "Are you crazy we will break our legs." Mandy pushed him out the way. "Do you have another way out. I'm fucking scared. I'm panicking." She looked down at Dean's body as the blood still poured. She began to cry. "I don't know what to do. I'm not getting next to that door." Dirk looked around the room hoping that they would be able to get out. "You are all trapped." They heard a voice of a man. But there was no one there in the room with them. "Everyone in this house will pay for raising me and my family." Dirk looked down at the grass outside and he saw something. A white figure which was a man holding a shotgun. "There is someone down there." He looked harder squinting his eyes hoping to see it clearer. He saw the shotgun being pointed up at him. "What is he holding?' Dirk asked himself. "Scream for help." Mandy told him. Mandy began to walk over to him. Then she heard a loud bang and felt something hit her face. When she wiped her eyes she saw Dirk lying on the floor. The only thing was now his head was missing. She looked into a mirror that leaned against a wall and there on her face was blood and pieces of Dirk's face. "AAGHHHH." She screamed. "It feels so good to be home." The man said.
