Gabe watched from the corner of the room as Ryland carefully set everything up to perform the process on Ryan that would break his bond with his old Master. By his side, Adam Siska watched with curious eyes since he had never seen this process done on another vampire. He had been taken in my Gabe after his own turning so he never had a Master. The two had met one night when Adam was hunting and was having trouble finding a “meal” for the night, unaware he had wandered into what Gabe considered his “territory” even though Gabe had never made the area officially his.

Gabe only considered it his area because to have a spot to even somewhat call your own put you in the list of vampires not to mess with because more than likely you might have gotten the area through killing off a stronger vampire. In Gabe’s case, he had only found a spot not claimed by any other. The scent of another vampire wandering around had attracted his attention and he went out to find the vampire.

He saw Adam walking but he could tell by the tension emitting from the younger vampire that he was hunting so he followed him, keeping his scent away from Adam until he picked up the scent of humans near by, obviously drunk from how loud they were, stumbling when they came in to view. Before Adam could make a move he approached and pulled him away, wanting to make sure there would be no trouble since the last thing he wanted was a troublesome vampire feeding in the area he watched over.

Adam looked over at he one he truly called Master, thankful he had found such a good vampire since all he had run into up until Gabe took him in were ones that wanted to fight him or make him a slave, like William Beckett. He looked back to Ryan as the vampire laid on the table and shifted until he was comfortable. During the three years he had been planted in William Beckett’s home he had never thought he would see Ryan on the table, not with how close Ryan had been to Beckett.

As far as William Beckett was concerned Adam was some homeless vampire that every now and then needed some extra cash so he was called upon to depose of the bodies of those punished by William. If he had liked them when they were alive, known they could be of some good use, then he would bring them to Gabe, who would bring them back and place them in good homes, or if he could use them, keep them himself.

When he heard the door open, he looked up to see Brendon walking into the room, his eyes holding a heavy worry as he watched his friend being prepared to die, even if it was only for a little while. “Are you sure you can watch this?” He questioned, meeting Brendon’s eyes when the other vampire looked at him, knowing the question had been directed at him.

Brendon nodded and moved to stand closer to Gabe and Adam, knowing he didn’t trust himself not to attack Ryland for when he would smell the spill of Ryan’s blood. He knew the two would be able to hold him back if he should go for Ryland, even if the other vampire was only trying to help. “How long did you say he had to be dead for?” He questioned Gabe, without turning his attention from Ryan and Ryland.

“At least an hour or so after his heart completely stops and he has no blood left in him, at all,” Gabe answered as he put his hand on the shoulder of his new friend and gave a small, comforting squeeze. “Stop worrying so much, Brendon, he’ll be perfectly fine when we bring him back, and he can finally get rid of that damned branding on his wrist. I’m sure he won’t be able to stop smiling when he wakes up with it gone.”

“I know,” Brendon said as he ran his fingers through his own hair, pausing his hand on the back of his neck to rub away the tension that was starting to build. “Are you going to remove it from his body while he’s dead, or when he comes back and has yet to wake up?”

“Probably while he is dead so that he won’t have to feel the removal with how deep into his flesh Ryland would have to cut,” Gabe answered.

“I would just like you three to know that I am still alive and can hear you just fine,” Ryan said, his voice annoyed, with the undertone of fear. He knew he would be coming back, but he was still afraid something would go wrong. He knew how attached Beckett was to him, not because he cared, but because he was still owned by Beckett until the end of this process. Gods forbid he would try to interrupt or steal his dead body away and leave it where the sun could rise and burn his body.

“Sorry, Ryan,” Gabe said, looking at the other two. “I think we should leave the Ry-boys and go check with our visitors, see how everything is fairing.” He put his arm around Adam and lightly nudged Brendon’s hip with his own to get the younger male to follow him and Adam to the door.

Outside the room, Brendon looked at Gabe. “What visitors are you talking about, Gabe?” He questioned as he followed Gabe and Adam to the door that led to the outside.

“Pete Wentz has numerous sources into Beckett’s home, one of them somehow found out what was going to be happening tonight, but wouldn’t reveal how… The point is, that if Beckett should find out that one of pets is going to be taken from his ownership, what do you think he will do?” Gabe questioned as he removed his arm from around Adam.

“Try to stop you, and or take Ryan back,” Brendon answered, frowning as his brow creased with worry at something he hadn’t thought of before. “Be it to punish Ryan, or destroy him, only Beckett will know.”

Gabe nodded. “Exactly. Which is why we have some extra precautions tonight. I would ask you to come outside with me, but I would rather not risk certain events I worry about.” Looking at Adam, he gave his friend a smile before he walked outside and started walking towards the gate that led to the road. When he had taken only a few steps, one of Aubrey’s body guards, flanked by a close friend of his own, came to stand before him. “How are things going out here?” He questioned.

The guard stretched, obviously having been hidden in a cramped, even for a vampire, hiding spot. “Nothing suspicious so far, Mr. Saporta,” he answered. “The other guards watching the area are keeping in contact,” he tapped his head as he spoke to show what form of contact, “and they’re reporting anything and everything at all times.”

“So, nothing suspicious…? That’s good to hear.”

“Everything has been fine,” answered the one called Thomas. “I’ll send someone to tell you if anything catches our attention, or I’ll come tell you myself.”

Gabe nodded. “Thank you, Thomas, I appreciate you volunteering for this. You can tell your Master that I truly appreciate him loaning us some of his guards.”

“Yes, Mr. Saporta.”

Gabe watched Thomas as he quickly returned to his hiding spot. As he went back into his home, Gabe saw Adam sitting in the living room, waiting for him. “What’s on your mind?” He questioned as he sat next to his friend on the couch.

“I’m just worried,” Adam answered. “How much long until William, or his Dandies, come through those doors after Ryan, and or Brendon? They’ll kill Brendon if they find out he’s alive,” Adam cut off his words with a heavy sigh. “He’s a good friend, Master, I really don’t want to see him murdered by some pathetic excuse for a vampire like William Beckett.”
