The wind blew past me, a small flurry of snow coming with it. I loved the snow. It was very...me. I spotted my best friend attempting to climb the tree in his front yard, and yelled, "YO! GERARD WAY! OVER HERE!"
By the way, my name is Ruby McLayne. I'm seventeen, and a lot of people say I act older than my age...more mature. Gerard's ebony head snapped in my direction, a slight smile gracing his lips.
"Hey, Rubes. How goes it?"
I laughed. "Real nice, Gee Gee."
"Stop calling me that," He grumbled. Every since I met him in the second grade, I called him 'Gee Gee', and it kind of stuck. "No chance, bestie." I grinned. He jumped down from the one branch that he'd succeeded in climbing.
"Yeah, so...how's winter break? No school for 2 months. No dealing with evil preps, nothing. This is the life. Yeah." He fell down in the deep snow, making me giggle. He stared up at me with his milky, hazel eyes, and I thought I would faint. Lately, I'd been having these kind of feelings about him...like...I might actually like him.
