Chapter 58:- Enthralled A/N: Malehorntaildragon, GML both of you thanks for the work.

**

Gabrielle woke up even earlier than normal the next morning, she had surprised herself at the amount of sleep she had actually had. With her normal calm efficiency, she got ready for the day, her first day as Harry’s! A sudden something shot through her as she thought about this, it wasn’t fear or anything but it was a something and she thought she liked it. Shaking this feeling off she finished dressing and collected her things. Looking at the bed she felt a smile cross her face, it had been comfortable and felt almost like home but that was now in the past, now things would be different. As she stood there, she remembered the aftermath of last night’s hearing.

They had all walked back in almost silence from the meeting with Dumbledore and Mr Cavendish, she could vividly remember the measured footsteps of Harry but not a word was said from him. For the whole way back Hermione and Ron were looking at everyone with questioning eyes yet none of the girls said anything and Harry was silent leading from the front as he was. Ron’s eye’s had hardened a bit when at the bottom of the grand staircase Susan and Luna had embraced her. She had looked at Hermione as she broke apart but the older girl just looked pensive as if trying to understand or workout exactly what had happened and just what would it mean. As they ascended the many flights of stairs Gabrielle could feel those two looking at not only her but Ginny and Harry as well. She didn't want to think about those looks right that minute she was now Harry’s and she had to start to serve him but she could feel a little of his inner tension. He was managing to suppress most of his emotions but she could still feel a few of them. She wasn’t sure what she should be doing but serving Harry was now her job, it was what she wanted to do as well, just to look after him, for he would look after her.

As they entered the common room, they saw that many a student had already left for bed as it was virtually empty. Still in silence, Harry crossed to his favourite chair and sat himself down, it was evident now that it wasn’t just tension in Harry he was annoyed, greatly so. Ginny either didn't see this or didn't care as she tried to squirm onto his lap. Harry hardly moved but Ginny’s insistence seemed to break through a little because reluctantly he let her and allowed his arms to rest around her. Gabrielle stood by waiting for his instructions but Harry said nothing in fact he didn’t even look at her. He eventually flick a small glance at her, she wanted to break into a smile but stopped as she saw his face. The tension or fury was gone, for the moment, and replaced it was shock; clearly to her he was shocked at actually having to buy her.

She wanted to feel hurt at his attitude, but Harry emotions swung once more they were rolling around inside of him unsettling everything that he knew. Therefore, for the moment she just waited, eventually Ginny caught her eyes and nodded to her normal place next to Harry. Gracefully she sat down but in a pose that suggested she was waiting for Harry to tell her what to do and not her normal relaxed self.

Hermione’s and Ron still looked at the group but said nothing. It was unsurprising that Ron’s face showed the most emotions but it was clear that he didn't see what was happening. Hermione, for once, kept quiet as well it was they knew that Harry just needed time and speaking now would only make it worse. Gabrielle concentrated on Harry, she wasn’t going to search for him through the bond or anything she just waited for him. It took time but at last, she felt Harry’s emotions settle slightly.

“I’m going to bed, see you all in the morning.” Announced Harry, stopping his hand that had been lazily stroking Ginny’s back. Ginny jumped off Harry without a word and looked closely into his face as he rose. She didn't say anything because even she could see that Harry wasn’t interested in talking. She gave him a smile before a brief hug silently wishing him well as he crossed to the boy’s stairs and disappeared from view. Ron shared a look with Hermione before he kissed her and followed Harry out of sight. Gabrielle braced herself for Hermione’s rant but it didn't come, Hermione just stood and looked at both Ginny and Gabrielle. She shook her head in almost sympathy but turning and leaving them on their own.

“He’s not really upset.” Said Ginny hoping to brighten Gabrielle’s mood as she now saw that they were all alone.

“I know, he just didn't want to do that.” Replied Gabrielle, now feeling her own guilt at forcing Harry’s hand.

“I know...he’ll be alright Gabrielle I’m sure.”

Gabrielle smiled, Ginny was trying to cheer her up but she really didn't need it. She might feel guilty now but she was his and so she had everything she had ever wanted in the world.

“I know, I really do. Tomorrow he’ll be fine it’s just the...” she tried to search for the right word and eventually found it “...enormity of it all.”

Ginny this time smiled at her before speaking.

“Yes I think he’s feeling that, that’s is why he hasn’t said anything. I’m sure he’s a little annoyed at what you did but I think that for the moment it’s overwhelming him. Tomorrow I’ll get him to talk but tonight I think it’s time for bed, both of us, I’m sure this isn’t finished just yet, there is bound to be more coming definitely from my brother and Hermione.”

Gabrielle smiled and nodded but didn't move. Bed was her first real problem, legally she was no longer a student so she shouldn’t be sleeping in the dormitories, should she?

“I...um...well....”

“What’s up?”

“I don't know if I’m allowed.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’m no longer a student remember and Harry hasn’t told me where I should sleep.”

For Ginny she had forgotten that Gabrielle had been declared a magical creature. The plan had sounded so nice so perfect and only just now she realised how much Gabrielle had given up.

“Oh...um...I’m so sorry I didn't think. How could I be so....”

“Hush Ginny, it’s alright I can sleep down here it will be fine.”

“No! That’s not right, a person of your age... no!”

“I’ll be fine, Harry’s only a few level’s up.”

“No... let’s see if you can go upstairs. You may have been expelled but things are so complicated now it might be all right. If the wards let you then it will be fine. If not, I’ll stay here with you tonight.”

Gabrielle stepped closer and hugged Ginny. “Thank you ma premiere.” She whispered.

Ginny had only heard Gabrielle speak a few words of French outside of when she spoke to her sister; it was mainly only times when her mind just couldn’t search for the right word.

“Ma Premiere? What is that?” She asked the younger girl a little confused.

Gabrielle didn’t realize what she had said and her hand rushed to her mouth in shock. It was not a nickname or anything bad, but when her mind was otherwise occupied, it was what she thought of Ginny, especially in situations like this.

The questioning look from Ginny demanded an answer but she felt ever so shy suddenly, all she could wonder was how would Ginny take it. Bracing herself slightly she explained.

“In Veela society, they are often thrown together as concubines for those with power or money. Even if today we are not it is still the practice for the older Veela to take the younger ones under their wing. The first concubine or the elder Veela took charge of the group and was often referred to by the younger Veela as Primiere. It means primary or first, the one to turn to for help or support.” She looked to the older girl for a reaction.

Ginny listened attentively to the little Veela. She was always fascinated when Gabrielle offered information on Veela society. “You consider me to be your Primary?” She asked tentatively.

“You took me under your wing, it started off like a big sister thing but you have taught me, and helped me achieve my goals. You always try to look out for me and protect me, like Harry, sometimes I think you are a tiger, always ready to leap to the defence of its cubs. But right now I look at you as Ma petite Amie, Ma Primiere fem. You are my primary female, my girlfriend. I want you to know how much this means to me, whether you are a Veela or not you act as one towards me.” She finished quietly, dreading rejection.

Ginny saw the look cross Gabrielle’s face before she had a chance to school her emotions. She quickly gathered her into a hug, and suddenly very glad that the common room was empty. She placed a kiss on Gabrielle’s lips, not a passionate kiss like they had shared in the past. It was a simple gesture of love and reassurance.

“Thank you, it means a lot to me that you feel that way. You have taught me a lot as well, I’m just sorry I don’t have something so nice to call you.”

“Perhaps in time you can think of something, but it is, how do you say it? The thought that counts?” Gabrielle smiled as she finished, a bit embarrassed that her English was still occasionally failing her.

“OK then, let’s get you into bed...” Ginny trailed off as her accidental double entandre had an effect on the younger girl, and a small shiver ran through them both. “I mean let’s try and get you to your bed.

Gabrielle looked at her friend but didn't know what to reply, eventually Ginny grasped her hand a pulled her towards the staircase. With trepidation she placed one foot on the stairs. No alarm no nothing sounded and with a smile Ginny pulled her up to the first year dormitories.

“See everything is fine.”

“If you insist.” Ventured Gabrielle but she wasn’t sure.

“As I said get some sleep, I’ll see you in the morning.”

Gabrielle smiled before reaching out and pulling slightly on Ginny, she kissed her lips and let the sweet sensation of her love fill her. Her body started to ache to do more but Ginny was right she had better sleep so that she was ready for tomorrow.

Ginny felt her heart race as those soft lips captured hers, her body started to inch forward wanting to connect with Gabrielle it wanted feel the girl but the young Veela broke before the sensations became too much. She waited as Gabrielle pushed open the door and they both saw that the lights were already out and curtains already pulled around the beds. Gabrielle slipped in and closed the door with hardly a sound and Ginny turned and ascended the stairs, yes tomorrow was going to be difficult.

Even though she was tired, Gabrielle didn’t sleep much, she didn't feel comfortable being in this bed it felt wrong and so that was one of the reason that drove her to awake so early. That was why now she was sitting in her normal place waiting for Harry, she didn't know when he would wake but she would wait for him, because she had to now.

Almost as soon as she had settled into the sofa, Chattel hopped onto her. As the two of them sat and waited she gently ran her fingers through the soft rabbits fur, Chantal hardly ever trembled these day but Gabrielle could almost feel her worry. Somehow each drew comfort from the other, hoping that both were doing the right thing yet Gabrielle could hardly fail to notice that Chantal’s normal guardian, Midnight, was nowhere to be seen.

**

Gabrielle was almost lost in her own world as she waited. A small part of her mind was listening for the tell tale noises on the stairs that would announce the arrival of her owner but the rest of her mind was concentrating on that thought, owner. Through her research and a little time with her Grandmama she knew all about captive Veela but now that she was one things seemed so different.

She knew that some Veela despised what they had become, they tried to fight it but there inner sense of beauty and honour kept them from doing anything dangerous. They would still follow their masters orders but that was all they would do nothing else. Then there were the other those that embraced their new life and tried to become useful. Her Grandmama had done that but it was now up to her.

She wanted to grasp what she had done, give Harry everything of herself. To her mind he wasn’t her owner or master he was her Mate the one to protect her the one to look after her and so she wanted to satisfy him, please him and eventually look after him. As she was musing at what she should be doing she almost missed Professor McGonagall entering. As the head of House walked over towards her, she wrenched her mind away from its fantasies.

“I thought you might be up.” Said Professor McGonagall, in what can only be described as a gentle voice.

“Um...I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be...” Blurted Gabrielle realising that, as she was a servant, a house common room was no place for her.

“Hush...don’t think about that now. Things are happening, changing and we all need time. Even a place as magical as this needs time to adjust.”

“Thank you Professor.”

“I imagine like me you have had little sleep, this past night.”

“A little, but yes not enough.”

“You are waiting for him?”

“I must now.” Simply replied Gabrielle.

McGonagall looked away, she had been awake most of the night. This sudden change this sudden upheaval in her own house concerned her but there was more. The headmaster’s actions once more came into question when it revolved around Harry and this little girl.

“Could you ask Harry to visit me in my office as soon as he wakes, before breakfast, you should join him as well.”

“What about the others?”

“They will be fine without the pair of you this morning.”

“Very well I’ll tell him.”

McGonagall hesitated before turning away, Gabrielle thought that the Professor wanted to say something more but she just turned and walked out of the common room once more leaving Gabrielle to her thoughts.

**

Harry knew he had been quiet last night but he didn’t trust himself to speak, all he wanted to do was be alone, least he do something wrong. As soon as he had said those words to Mr Cavendish he felt his world suddenly had gotten larger and far more troublesome. The looks that his best friends gave him hurt but he tried to understand their view even through that hurt, yet all he could think about was what was his next step, and how he felt used again. Coming to own Dobby had been easy, it was right and Dobby sort of owned himself. Winky needed it, he really didn’t mind and she was far away and seemingly able to cope without him even thinking about it. Yet Gabrielle was right there, in front of him, and she was someone he thought about a lot.

Moments before he had said those words she had been his teacher, a fellow student yet even more, the thought of not seeing her face, seeing that smile or feeling the caresses upon his magic hurt but not like any pain. Deep within his stomach it hurt, or ached. It was the same sensation he had when he thought about Ginny, were they now the same to him? However he now owned her, she was a possession, a thing and what was he supposed to do with her? Yet that was not the only concern that he had overnight, his mind played back what had happened and he was now sure that he had been used, with a calm manipulation been had been used to gain something. He wanted to be angry, needed to be angry but couldn’t force it out something was stopping him.

Last night he had retreaded to bed as quickly as he could seeking solous in his loneliness hoping that as the morning broke he would have all of the answers. When he rose none of the answers were there, the problems remained but a new hope had risen which was slowly consuming his anger but not his hurt. Tonight he would be back in his own house away from prying eyes and accusing faces, he would have time to solve these problems.

Shaking his head slightly as if to try and dislodge his worries he started to dress forcing a little cheer into his morning routine As he walked down the stairs he wondered ideally if she would be there waiting for him. His mind didn't want to contemplate his many problems but it did want to focuses on her. He had left her in the common room, left them all but what would she have done. A sudden shot of guilt entered his mind at the thought of Gabrielle waiting in the Common room for him all night. Dobby would have done that, perhaps even Winky but what about Gabrielle would she had stood there and waited for her ...owner?

The word Owner made him stop dead on the stairs. How could he be her owner, she was a person a witch and much more. If he was that, then what did that make him? Forcing the sudden thought away he forced himself onwards.

As he entered the Common room he saw her sitting in her normal place, he momentarily forgot about the past day, his worries almost every concern vanished as he drank in the sight of her as she slowly stroked her rabbit, such a normal action seemed to tell him that everything would work out fine. After a moment she looked up at him and rose from her place, Harry saw that she had changed from the uniform of last night and the small shot of guilt evaporated, she hadn’t waited for him all night.

“You all right?” he asked in a gentle voice.

“Of course ...” Gabrielle struggled with the next word, what was she going to call him? Many Veela called their owners, Master or Sir even My Lord but what would Harry want. This joined the myriad of other unanswered questions in her mind over her new status.

“I’m sorry about last night.” Harry said as he attempted to relive all of his guilt over his previous night actions.

“About what?” asked Gabrielle. Was Harry having second thoughts? She was sure that she could sense his feelings and those that she could didn't tell her this, so what was he apologising for.

“I shouldn’t have been so quiet. I bet Ron and Hermione want to have an argument with me; I just didn’t want it, not then probably not even now. I think all I want to do now is go home, away from it all so I can sort everything out, there was something more to yesterday than the obvious but I just can’t see it.”

“Yes there was.” Whispered Gabrielle ready to tell him all, confess her manipulation and beg him for forgiveness.

Harry looked at her and smiled, it seemed like she was mirroring his own thoughts.

“Let’s not think about that just yet let’s just wait for Ginny then have breakfast.”

“Harry...Professor McGongall dropped in a little while ago she said she wanted to see us both as soon as you were up.”

“Do you know what about?”

“No, but she was different.”

“Different, how so?”

“Kinder.”

Harry was confused at this description but understood that Gabrielle would never lie, leaving Ginny a quick note he led Gabrielle out of the common room and to McGonagall’s office.

**

As soon as he knocked, they heard McGonagall’s voice calling them in. To Harry’s eyes not much had changed from when he was in there last year. McGonagall seemed to have been working on some paperwork and Harry noticed a large book open on one of the side tables but as soon as they entered, he saw that she tided away everything including closing up the book. Having never, seen one of the Professors studying before a small knot of curiosity formed but he could make out the book’s title but he thought it looked very much like of the Law book she had been asked to read.

“It is nice to see you up so early as well Mr Potter. I am glad you have gotten here before most of the other students are awake. ”

“Thank you Professor.”

“The Headmaster has asked me to send you to him as soon as possible. There are things that you must know and understand about the current situation, he feels that it would be best done before breakfast.”

“Of course Professor, did the paperwork come through early?” Replied Harry a little confused, he could have gone straight to Dumbledore why did he have to come here first?

“I can see your inquisitive mind starting again. I am not sure about the paperwork, I think it has arrived but he wants to speak to you about...something else as well. Whilst you are with him I would like to speak to Gabrielle that is the reason why I have called you here.”

“Why ask me?”

“She is yours and its only right that I ask.”

“Oh...um....” mumbled Harry feeling not only ashamed but confused. McGonagall kept her stern eyes locked on Harry waiting for an answer.

Harry turned to Gabrielle and tried to sound responsible.

“Gabrielle?”

“I don't mind.” She immediately replied but as curious as Harry.

“Well of course then Professor. Should I return here afterwards?”

“I think that would be for the best, you may have breakfast here if you so desire because I’m sure you would not want to go to the Great Hall today.”

“Why?”

“The answer is one of many that the Headmaster wants to talk to you about.”

“Oh...ok, see you later then Gabrielle.”

Gabrielle smiled at Harry as he left clearly confused and a little worried about what Dumbledore wanted to talk to him about.

McGonagall waited for Harry to leave before she spoke. The world had changed last night but Gabrielle sat there as calm as anything, seemingly almost content. Reaching to one of the side tables, she brought forward the day’s problem. Harry was about to be shown the same thing but McGonagall wanted to speak and see Gabrielle’s reaction to the paper herself.

“When I give you this you will understand why you may want to stay here for Breakfast, please read.” Said McGonagall as she handed over the early edition of the Daily Prophet.

Gabrielle took the paper and turned it over so that she could read the front page. It took her immense control of her emotions not to show the sudden terror that she felt as she saw the front-page headlines and started to read the articles below. Before she had even gotten halfway through the first one she abandoned the pretence she was portraying to Professor McGonagall and closed her eyes ignoring both the paper and the Professor in front of her. She allowed herself to flow to him, the closer she got she felt a greater resistance to her. She had not felt this before, it was as if something was around Harry trying to shield him but she had to get to him to be prepared and lend him the comfort that he might soon need.

As she waited for Harry’s reaction a small knot of worry formed. Dumbledore had wanted to see Harry alone, this article was about the pair of them but he had wanted to speak to Harry on his own, was this another attempt of the Headmaster to manipulate Harry away from her?

If she had been with him, she could have see his reaction, been able to soothe him with a touch or even a glance, but that had been taken away from her, however her magic was not. Therefore, if it was only her magical connection that was able to help she would use it. She left her magic fly its length and felt for Harry, he had erected his shields last night and they were still as strong yet she danced and soothed her way over them. Even if he didn't let her in she had to be there with him let him feel her and her attempt to help. She felt a small caress as if Harry was testing himself just before the emotions came rolling down the link. Harry’s emotions bounced left and right as shock, hurt, and even pain ran through him, she forced her magic to stay with him to caress his pain to help him through then almost as soon as it started it finished his barriers were back and he could feel him calming. Slowly she withdrew and eventually she opened her eyes.

McGonagall had watched Gabrielle intently as she started to read the paper. It wasn’t a bad article, in fact it was pleasantly written, it was just so personal, it didn't attack Harry directly but left enough veiled implications to allow most to form their own opinion. She saw the girl read line after line but then she stop and closed her eyes. She saw the sudden look of concentration and then something else, never had she seen emotions like these on Gabrielle’s face but eventually they were gone. McGonagall didn't realise how long she had been studying Gabrielle until she looked at a clock, so intent was she on her observations. Gabrielle’s face was once more it’s normal serene peace and she slowly folded the paper, McGonagall wasn’t sure if she had even fished the article but took hold of the paper as it was held out towards her.

McGonagall had to ask the question that had been running around all night in her head. She had looked a few things up in her own search for the truth but decided to ask the first question that had plagued her.

“Can I ask you why you did it? You had won, impressively as it happens so, why do what you did?”

Gabrielle looked at her hands, which were folded into her lap, trying to compose the right answer. It was a question many people in the future would ask, to most she would refuse but not to Professor McGonagall. The simple and non-judgmental way she asked deserved an answer.

“Do you know what must happen?”

“Happen?”

“In the war?”

“Some.”

“But not everything?” queried Gabrielle, she had assumed that McGonagall would know much more if not everything that the Headmaster did.

“No...The headmaster has kept many things to himself. He seems to have a plan but....” Minerva stopped before she said anything more. She would never have said anything about the conflict to anybody, especially to a student, but suddenly she was confiding in this girl.

“I know as well, not everything but enough.” Said Gabrielle.

“Very good, but that doesn’t answer my question as to why?”

“You know a little about what I can do, what I can help Harry with.”

“Yes I was there with your sister.”

“Then that’s the answer, I can help him.”

“But you did not have to do what you did to help. There are other ways, different things we or you could have done.”

“No, what I said is true...I’m a Veela, I think I have always been one, at least in my heart, and it is now that which is controlling me. I did it because it was right for me as much as for him.”

McGonagall leaned back slightly as she thought about the answer before she final spoke.

“By the time that students come here I have gotten to know a lot about them, their parents, siblings everything. By the time they graduate I almost think of them as my own children, I’ve watched them through many terms grow and develop, most change from the 11 year olds I first know, yet I know about each and every one of them and especially if they belong to my own house. I have been watching you for a whole term now and I still know less about you than any other first year, including the other Houses. For one from my own house it’s...unthinkable.”

Gabrielle’s face took on a questioning look as McGonagall paused. It was thought the Professor was trying to solve a difficult problem and almost hesitantly, she started once more.

“I was brought in to the meeting with your sister so that I could protect the school. I knew of you, but actually knew nothing. You displayed to me something that was impossible, yet one so young had done it. From then onwards I feel that everything about you or what is happening with you or Harry either been hidden from me or has been distorted. Please tell me a little about yourself before you started here, help me try and understand and get to know you, someone who last night chose a course not many if anyone would chose. I suspect that there are a number of things you do not feel comfortable telling me now but try and tell me what you can so that I may try and understand why you did it?

Gabrielle tried to gauge what McGonagall wanted but this pleasant conversation felt right to her. She could feel the sincerity from the Professor but there was something else with it, like a decision needing to be made and this talk was going to determine it.

With a light voice she started, she spoke of her time in France of her hopes and ambitions and then of when she awoke to who she was the changes she went through. Throughout this McGonagall listened without saying a word. At the end silence stretched throughout the room and Gabrielle could feel the decision was now being made.

“You still determine that enslaving yourself is right for you. I think I understand a little but you never told me why. Every girl has dreams you could have, should have, been able to live up to them, well most of them at least so doing this it does not make sense.”

“I would never be accepted, not to this country or even in my own.”

“Accepted?”

“I love Harry...everyone has or will say that is just a silly crush but I know what I am saying, I feel it every day and experience it like very few others ever have or will. When I found out about myself it was my one goal. I wanted to be his, I wanted to be his wife to give the children he desires but more than that, I want to be there for him. Even now as I know what he must do I still want to be there with him, at the end if need be but I will never be accepted. This country, my country, they would never accept me, for I’m a Veela. I can feel like them, experience like them, I am even bound by their need. By doing this I’m his, whether he treats me nice or even if he beats me...”

“He would never do that!”

“...I am still his. Very few get to become what they want to be but I have. As of now I have become what I want to be, my dream as you put it has been accomplished.”

“You are so young...”

“Only to people’s eyes, to my magic I am old enough. I had to do this not because we won or that I would have been deported but now as I’m his, he is one step closer to what he eventually needs.”

“But you have given up everything.”

“I may have done in your eyes, but I’ve gained so much.”

Minerva paused for a moment and thought. For a few times there, it was though she was speaking to someone her own age, the calm assurance and confident voice belittled Gabrielle’s physical age. McGonagall thought she was a good judge of character and everything was telling her that she was right; Gabrielle was pure and had only Harry’s best interest at heart. It was that and a little something else, be it motherly instinct or something that made up her mind.

“Very well, I’m sure that Professor Dumbledore and Harry will work something out about next term but I want to offer my help.”

“You have already done that a little while ago.”

“That was me to a student, now this is different you are no longer a student but I wish to help you.”

“How?”

“You said that your mother never had schooling and that you would miss the lessons here.”

“Yes.”

“Then I will teach you, I might even get some other Professors to help to.”

“What?”

“It would be a shame for such a witch never to have her schooling. No matter what people say or even the Ministry now says we both know differently. You may have you dream now but there are other dreams that you had.”

“Well....” ventured Gabrielle

“Let’s not let another one die just yet. I’m not completely sure of how to do if but I will find a way to continue your teaching.”

“How, I’m expelled?”

“You were never expelled, just classified as a dangerous magical creature, there’s a large difference there. Anyway I don’t know I’ll have to have to work something out with Harry and a few others but I am sure we can work something out.” McGonagall saw Gabrielle’s face light up at the thought of being taught, Minerva at the moment didn't know how she would accomplish it but if she had too she would travel to London in the evenings to give Gabrielle lessons, because rightly or wrongly that girl seemed to be fighting the real fight.

Gabrielle couldn’t believe what the Professor was offering her, she had thought that she would lose everything, she wasn’t even sure if she would be able to keep her wand or even Chantal. Now it seemed she might be able to keep at least one of the things she had given up upon last night, learning to perform real magic.

“That sounds great!” called a voice from the back of the room.

Gabrielle spun round at the sound of Harry’s voice. She had always known exactly when he entered a room but for some reason she had missed him a moment ago. A blush wanted to spread across her face and she desperately wanted to apologise to Harry for not noticing him when his smile stopped her.

“Ah I thought, I saw you return, everything ok with the Headmaster?”

“Um...yes.” replied Harry quietly the sudden foreboding coming over him again.

“You do understand that we had nothing to do with it.”

“Yes...but....”

“It doesn’t make it any easier for what it is worth I’m sorry.”

“Thank you Professor, would you mind if we just went back to the Common Room now.”

“Of course not, and I’ll make sure the other Gryffindor’s don't bother you.”

Harry smiled a tight smile in thanks knowing that eventually people would learn the truth. He was going to have to talk to those closest to him but the others could find out themselves, for no matter what was said everyone would have already made up their mind about him. Who would ever see the real Harry, The Harry who did it to save a friend.

**

Ginny bounded down the stairs full of happiness. It might be her last few hours with Harry for a little while but she was still happy. She was sure that Gabrielle was now going to be part of her life forever and that seemed to brighten up everything this morning. Last night she had been worried at Harry’s silence but thought she understood. Talking about it and doing it were completely different things, but he had purchased her none the less.

As she entered the Common Room, she saw both Ron and Hermione waiting by the fireplace but no sign of Harry or Gabrielle. She had been sure that one if not both would have already up and be waiting for her. As she crossed to the two, she saw that Hermione had a scrap of parchment in her hand and it looked like it was Harry’s handwriting. As sudden ball of fear formed in her stomach at this, had Harry run off again?

Silently Hermione passed it over.

McGonagall and Dumbledore wanted to see us this morning. Don't wait for us, see you after breakfast.

H and G.

“Oh, do you know what about?” She asked

“Last night I should not wonder.” Replied Hermione coldly.

“I’m sorry Hermione.”

“SORRY!”

“Please just listen....”

“I would have but you decided not to tell us!”

“Please just let’s go to breakfast and then ask me what you want.” Suggested Ginny fearing that unless she could get Hermione into a more public setting she would literally explode at her.

The three of them entered into the Great Hall and Ginny noticed that most of the students were missing. There were still a number their but the majority must still be sleeping in. They sat at their normal place and picked at the food around them. Ginny noticed that some of the normal foods around her were missing, obviously Dobby wasn’t present, as she picked at a slice of toast she readied herself for Hermione’s onslaught. She didn't have long to wait, she had hardly taken one bite before Hermione started.

“Tell me why did we do all of that work!”

“To give Gabrielle a chance.”

“A chance, I bet it was all her idea. This what she wanted, I was suspicious of her all the time but she... she....”

“It wasn’t her plan.”

“Oh come on Ginny, it looked pretty convenient to me!” Replied Ron agreeing with Hermione.

“It wasn’t her idea honestly, it was Luna who found it and told us.”

“So when did you cook all of this up?” asked Hermione still seething.

“Last week after Gabrielle saw Mr Cavendish.”

“I knew it, I thought something was going on, but I left it I thought my friends would tell me.”

“We didn't want too because you wouldn’t have liked it.”

“Liked it, it’s slavery!”

“No it isn’t.”

“What do you call it then? He bought her!” retorted Hermione her voice rising slightly causing a few people to look round.

“Calm down Hermione.” Hushed Ginny trying to not make a scene.

“How can I, the two of you... No all of you went ahead into that hearing knowing this was going to happen.”

“No we didn't, we went in there and did what we had ALL planed. We thought we had won.”

“And we had.”

“But the Ministry changed that.”

“But she would have been free.”

“Do you think Harry is going to be like that?” quickly spat Ginny.

“What I think doesn’t matter the truth is he bought a person! First a House elf, now this, a person. A person Ginny someone we have spent time with, someone who has sat with us, studied with, spent evenings with! A real person Ginny and he bought her!”

Ginny took a long steadying breath she could see that this was not going well. Hermione could just not see the positive side, with a small smile she dropped her head in acceptance.

“Your right Hermione but we had no other way to keep her here.”

“She is not some pet, to be kept around because it pleases. She is a person, a witch, how do you know there was no other way? I bet you did not even look, if I had known we would have found something.”

“We tried, we looked, all of us.”

“But not very well, if you had told me I would have been able to....”

“NO! Hermione you are good but not so special that we can’t do anything without you. Yes you are smart, the smartest witch of your year but have you ever considered the rest. Luna is easily smarter than me or Harry, she may be as smart as you but she just doesn’t apply herself but she did to this. You got the most OWL’s in the year but did you look to see how many Susan got?”

“Um....”

“So don't tell us we’re not smart. We looked, we truly did, but we didn't tell you because you would have reacted like this and that wouldn’t have helped. If it wasn’t for the Ministry at the end everything would have been fine.”

Hermione glared at Ginny but kept silent as Ron jumped in.

“Ginny you’re just wrong, I thought I knew, knew what you wanted but you’ve changed.”

“So have you.” She replied at once.

The two siblings looked at each other as if both knew what each was about to say. For once Ron thought that his sister previously she would have been appalled at the thought of slavery and the mere mention of Harry buying someone let alone a ‘Veela’ would have caused a violent reaction. However now not only was she seemingly condoning it, she was defending it. Something had definitely happened to his sister and he had to find out what!

Neither of the siblings got a chance to say anything more because at that moment the flapping of wings announced the arrivals of the post owls. Ginny immediately noticed that there were far more than normal especially as it was the last day of term. Hermione received her normal morning copy of the Daily Prophet but Ginny was open mouthed at the sight of Errol almost dropping on top of Ron. He too seemed to be carrying a copy of the paper as well as what looked like a note from her mum.

As she waited, she saw both of them open the paper and start to read. She had a sudden sinking feeling as she saw their faces and her ears heard the sudden increase in noise as students started to mutter to themselves. She glanced around the Great Hall and suddenly saw people all looking in her direction. None of them were directly looking at her but they were all looking towards where Harry and Gabrielle normally sat. Tuning back to Hermione, she waited for her to finish not daring to turn around anymore.

“Well it looks like your little plan has made the paper and I don't think it’s too nice on Harry.”

“What do you mean?” instantly asked Ginny.

“Read.” Replied Hermione handing across her own paper.

ENTHRALLED!!!

In this time of worry the Ministry of Magic once again shows how much it cares for it populace and makes sure that their children can be educated in the safest of all possible manners. Late last week the Ministry was anonymously informed that once more there was as possible dangerous creature let louse within the school. Readers might remember the article run three years ago when we reported that a Basilisk had been found within the old pipes in Hogwarts. We all remember the year Sirius Black escaped and attacked the School, not to mention when we broke the story of a Werewolf being hired as a teacher! Now there was a new terror.

The Ministry reacted swiftly to this report and sent a crack team to investigate. As we all know the Ministry has upgraded the security at our teaching establishments but this new threat had to be taken seriously. Initially they were slightly hampered by the efforts of Professor Dumbledore who insisted that he was quiet capable to looking into the manner himself but The Ministry ever vigilant on the peoples behalf still looked into it.

They were shocked to find the story to be true. For the past term, a Veela, a class 3 magical creature has been attending the school and lessons. This person had managed to slip unnoticed into the school. Her heritage was known to the school but had not been forward to the Ministry for approval. At the end of the term the creature viciously attacked a number of students although two have been released two others are still hospitalized.

But here is where the story takes a unique turn. During the official inquiry, done at the school to protect the victims’ identities, Mr. Harry Potter, that’s right ladies and gentlemen the Chosen One himself, wasn’t only there but actually defended her, in believing that she didn’t attack but was defending herself from her attackers.

During the inquiry it was proven that the girl really was a Veela, and was declared as such by the Ministry representative, Mr. Potter bought her that very moment. Veela, known to be very beautiful, are often sought out by wizards to be used as live-in concubines. However, Veela themselves often times seek out the rich and powerful as mates. Could this be the case here? It is often said that Veela although extremely beautiful on the outside, on the inside are simply sex crazed demented creatures, who care only about themselves and who will do anything to get what they want. The Veela would have had an entire term attending Hogwarts with Mr. Potter giving her plenty of time to enthral him. How could our beloved hero turn down an innocent blonde haired blue eyed girl, claiming to be attacked, sexually most likely, by the very people whom she attacked.

The Ministry is at a loss to The Chosen One’s actions. The Ministry is said to have pleaded with him to see what he was doing but he still went ahead and did it. More questions are now being asked within the upper reaches about our alleged saviour. Some Wizards have already been muttering about the lack of action from our Hero and now this new action brings even more doubt to our minds. One senior official interviewed was quoted to say.

“The Chosen One, what or who has chosen him? For the past month he has done nothing to stop the killing and now all he is doing is buying his own pleasure slave!”

Some people are hoping that this is just a case of Enthrallment, but if he is susceptible to such and enchantment where has our hope gone?

As much as this paper would like to applaud what Harry Potter has done, we have to question his final motives. Did he truly try and save the damsel in distress or did he just want a girl to keep his bed warm at night?

Ginny looked up and Hermione but felt nothing, it would not take many people to work out who the Veela was. But that wasn’t her biggest worry they would be able to deal with it, but what about Harry a story like this must really hurt him and he was nowhere around. A small knot of fear gripped her and the thought that he had already gone.

She started to rise, but was halted by Ron.

“Mother has read the paper already.”

“Oh...”

“She and I too have a number of questions about you and...Gabrielle. Everything seems a bit odd to me and mum is even more concerned.”

“Not now Ron, please.”

“You can’t put me off.”

“I’m not, I just have to go.” She replied and dashed from the Hall, she could feel the tears start to form in her eyes at the sudden thought of Harry already gone.

**

Stepping through the Portrait hole and into the common room Ginny stopped dead with relief. Even from this distance, she could see the messy hair of Harry sitting in his normal chair by the fire. More slowly than she wanted to, she started to cross towards him. As she rounded the sofa she saw Gabrielle was curled up in the corner of the sofa just looking at the fire, her feet were tucked under her and her face was almost on top of Harry’s hand. At the foot of the sofa was Gabrielle’s rucksack and a small carrying case which she knew contained Chantelle.

“Harry.” She called out and saw him look up at her, his face showed the signs of a grin but everything seemed to be lost in his grim visage.

“So you know?” she ventured when he didn't speak.

“Yes, that was what Dumbledore and McGonagall wanted to speak to us about, well that and the paperwork.”

“What did they say?”

“I don't know about McGonagall but Dumbledore talked about my responsibilities and that of Gabrielle and the school. Mr Cavendish had also sent the paperwork for me to sign. Dumbledore was quiet through it all but he did say he would tell the students not to bother us.

“Like that will help.” Replied Ginny.

“I don’t know, but it’s all he could do. I think last night shocked him as much as it did me.”

Ginny tried to sit in her normal place (on Harry), but he refused to move a muscle it looked like Harry didn't want it.

“What’s up?” she asked quietly.

“I don't know. I did the right thing didn’t I?” Harry asked for the first time looking directly at Ginny. She didn't even hesitate and bent low and pulled him into a hug. She press him as hard as she could to her chest so that he could feel her. It was though the old Harry had returned the one before they had come up with this mad plan.

“Of course Harry. They may write things in the paper’s, people can say what they like but we know the truth.”

“Truth?”

“Oh you are being silly, shall I go and get Luna. I know she has a way for making you see what your heart is saying.”

“Hey what was that for!” defended Harry feeling a slightly blush start to rise.

“Today all you can see is the misery around you need to look at the good you’ve done.”

Harry tried to pull away from Ginny and she only let him move a little, but wasn’t ready yet to accept her words.

“Good...Gabrielle is expelled from the school. People will look at me as though I’m a pervert. They will think that she is a.... And I bet my two best friends aren’t talking to me. That and the sinking feel I was manipulated into this.”

Ginny darted her face forward and kissed him hard on the lips, it wasn’t sensual she just wanted to stop his mind from thinking its bad thoughts.

“Harry you said you trusted me.”

Harry had been a little shocked at Ginny’s kiss but didn't know what was coming.

“Yes you are not going to make me promise anything!” he quickly asked fearing suddenly some new wild scene, which would end up him buying everybody.

“Well yes I am but please it will work.”

“I...I...”

“If you don't I will never speak to you again.”

“You wouldn’t.”

“No but please trust me it will be quick and you will like it I promise.”

Harry had faith in Ginny but after promising to buy Gabrielle, he was not so sure. All he could think of was the bad at what was happening at the current time, that and the feeling of once more being used. Dumbledore had told him of the news article but not only that what the Ministry or others might now think of him. But it wasn’t just that it was the other students it would not be long before they would soon start to talk about him and he feared even more from the Slytherin’s no matter what he did soon Gabrielle would be ridiculed and she didn't deserve that.

All of this and more ran around in his mind and he was questioning if it was right. I love Gabrielle, he had admitted that to himself but if he truly loved her then he should have done this? Distance should not matter in love, if Gabrielle had to go back to France they would have worked something out. Even if it was just during the holidays he would still get his lessons and she would still be a real person not some...creature.

As he sat here waiting, the other Gryffindor’s had let him be but he could see it in their eyes. There wasn’t hate or pity but there was something reflected in their eyes. He so much wanted to run and hide or turn the clock back but he could not. So he sat with a very strangely quiet Gabrielle and just waited. Gabrielle was normally quiet but she too had changed he was sure there was just something about her when he risked a glance.

He turned and looked Ginny full in the face, and could also see something there. It wasn’t the same as the rest but there was something there, yet she was asking him to do something and probably something he didn’t want to do.

“Ginny...” he started to ask.

“No Harry don't think about me for the moment just trust what I ask you to do.”

With weary resignation he looked her in the eye and nodded. “Ok then what have I got to do now.”

Ginny glanced at Gabrielle and couldn’t stop the smile spreading. Gabrielle looked so lost sitting on her own. It was her normal place but today she looked lost, Ginny was about to change that.

“You are questioning if what you did was right.”

“Yes.”

“All you can see is the bad, feel that you have been used.”

“No that’s not the case.”

“You just can’t see the good that you have done.”

“Good, what....”

“Harry sit back relax slightly you need to see the good.”

“How will...”

“You promised....”

“Oh very well.”

He lent back and felt the chair envelop him slightly he tried to relax but his mind wouldn’t

“You’re fighting it.”

“No I’m not.” Replied Harry defensively but he did relax his arms and tried to calm his mind.

“Now Gabrielle, please get up.”

Gabrielle looked at Ginny and could feel the strong emotions rolling off of her but didn't know where this was leading, but she rose to her feet and waited.

“Good, now sit on Harry like I do.”

“What!” instantly said Harry.

“Shhh Harry you need to see and feel, go on Gabrielle.”

Reluctantly at first she took a step towards Harry but he said no more he just keep looking at them. With care she lowered herself on top of Harry’s legs sitting sideways on him.

“The two of you look so scared.” Commented Ginny looking at their stiff demeanour.

“Harry put your arms around her and pull her close, just like if you were hugging me.”

Harry lazily placed his arms around Gabrielle and slowly started to draw her close. He thought it looked stupid but the closer she got the less his mind started to think. He felt Gabrielle snake her arm around behind him as her head came to rest on his shoulder and his senses suddenly became alive at what he was doing. He had thought about this girl, fantasised about her and now was holding her close, but not in a fit of panic or emotions just calmly and relaxed.

His nose started to nuzzle into the ever so soft blonde hair, but that was not all every sense started to feel her. She didn't weight nearly as much and Ginny, he could feel her on him but it was an ever so delicate and lightweight. His heart seemed to slow and beat to a content rhythm and he listened to the light moaning from Gabrielle. He didn't know where this understanding came from but he knew her moans were of pleasure. Not pleasure derived from heavy sexual activity just the calm touch of the one who loves you.

He let his arm relax more and more and his actions became more gentle more loving. His mind almost understood all of this but he just let it happen, a burst of panic almost broke the moment when he thought that it was their combined magic causing all of this but there was not rush of power or anything like what he had experienced before. Gabrielle wiggled slightly and caused shivers to run through him but suddenly he noticed his arousal.

Whether it was by chance or luck her thigh was pressed against him. The small pressure of it was doing it’s own stimulation but also the effect of holding her. More panic started to rise at the thought of what was happening. He wanted to move, modesty demanded that he should. He loved Gabrielle but he shouldn’t let her feel him getting hard. But before he could move he heard yet another moan and now more of a whimper. He had to move it was evident that she could feel him, he started to brace himself but was stopped short by the whispered words of Ginny.

He did not realised that he had closed his eyes when Gabrielle had sat on him, but he looked at Ginny. She had squatted in front of the pair so close that her words could not be over heard.

“No Harry, it’s alright to get like that. Gabrielle loves you, I love you, all of us love you and we understand. This is who she is, truly deep down. Your reaction is proof of your thoughts, here is not the place to carry them out but you don't have to move. Gabrielle can feel you, she wants to help you, it is not wrong to react like that, I suspect she is reacting the same just don’t worry about for now.”

“But...but....”

“No Harry you have just been concentrating on the bad think of the good. Feel Gabrielle, think of her, you have given her what she wants most. She wants to be protected and you will do that.”

“Of course, but....”

“But it is not just that she wants to belong to you, let it happen and think about this moment. Think on how you feel, this is the good of what you have done, if you hadn’t bought her then neither of you would have had this.”

“I should...”

“No Harry just sit there with her on you, and feel. Let the two of you drive away bad and only replace with the good. You need to talk to her, a lot cannot be said at this moment. I suspect you don’t even know everything you want to say, but you have to say something, you have kept it quiet all night. Last night you were emotionless but that was a mask talk to her before you make it worse.”

Harry nodded he hadn’t said anything last night. Emotions he thought he had lost the previous year had returned, he was wise enough to know that if he had spoken then it might have damaged everything even more but still his mind continued to rest upon it. The soft weight and gentle wiggling of Gabrielle just teased out of him.

Last night if he had tried to talk to her, to ask her the questions running through his head, he would have been angry. Now he whispered into her hair.

“What were you playing at? We had won, everything would have been fine. You lied and manipulated me into buying you. They weren’t going to sell you, you could have gone back to France and gotten an education, we would have still seen each other could still have had lessons. Now your nothing, you’re not even classed as a human, you have thrown that all away and used me to do it!?!”

“No, I had to do it.” Gabrielle replied quietly into his chest. She could feel his emotions start to boil. Desperately she wanted to reach out and touch sooth them away but they had to be released.

“No you didn’t! Why do you think you had to do it?” Harry sounded near tears

Gabrielle could feel Harry’s hardness; the deliciousness of it was poking into her thigh. Never had she made a mistake about clothes but she dearly wished she was wearing a dress or skirt something to cover him, then she could have done more with him. Almost subconsciously she left her free arm drop from Harry’s shoulder and rest lightly upon him.

Her voice was laced with not only love, but purred with lust and sexual need as she replied quietly. “Being Veela, using my Veela abilities, is who and what I am, it defines me. Veela fade without their mate, you are my mate. I’d lose my magic if I went back to France.”

Harry could feel her hand. It didn’t move it just rest on top of him, but the hope that she hadn’t noticed his growing hardness had evaporated in the wind.

“But you’re not a Veela we proved it.”

“No I’ve always been a Veela. Harry, you saw my wings.” She whispered. He nodded into her hair so she continued.

“Deep inside of me I’ve know. I have leaded my life according to their rules, I didn’t know it until I first felt you but it true. I chose you, my Veela inside chose you, you were to be the one, my mate the one to protect me.”

“But, but, why? Why didn’t you tell me this at the beginning?”

“Would you have believed me, if I told you the beginning of the summer or even the beginning of school?” Gabrielle questioned. “Even if I did tell you, I…I wanted you to want me, not because I need you, but because you really did want me and not just as a friend or teacher, but as a lover.”

Harry felt a patch a wetness on his chest as Gabrielle silently let her tears fall.

“Ssshhh, don’t cry Gabrielle. I just, I hate being manipulated, and deceived just always tell me the truth.”

“I’m sorry I deceived you, I, I’ll never do it again.”

Harry’s mind started to quiet as he held her close. Her hand was still positioned on top of him and her thigh was gentling moving but the truths had been told.

Ginny waited a little while before she took Gabrielle’s place on the sofa. She had heard Gabrielle’s admission and Harry pull her closer as he tried to comfort her. She knew she was losing a precious moment to be with her Boyfriend before Christmas but she was still glad. Gentle noises came from the pair and she realised that they had drifted off to sleep. She had never seen such a change in two people just by the act of touching and a few words spoken, it was as though one was caressing the other’s worries away.

It wasn’t long before more and more students started to fill the common room. It was clear to see that the news had already been spread. She saw numerous glances at both herself and Harry with Gabrielle literally curled upon his chest. But for each glance that she saw she returned one back, if anyone came close or disturbed them then her Bat Bogie would be the least of their worries.

**

Ginny waited until the last moment before she woke them. She had already packed and she knew by the fact of Gabrielle’s rucksack that the young girl had packed as well that is why she waited so long. Most of the students had already left for the train but they still had time to take a slow walk down to the station.

Dobby had appeared a few moments ago and had taken Gabrielle’s and her things for her. She had asked about Harry’s trunk and he had replied that he had already taken it to the train so she quietly got to her feet and gently woke the pair.

“Oh...um....” stammered Harry as he woke suddenly realising that he had fallen asleep. The ever so gentle weight on him reminded him that he had not slept alone.

“What did people....”

“They said nothing Harry, you were tired it seems. The fact that Gabrielle slept on you wasn’t mentioned.”

Harry looked at Ginny and saw a glint on her eyes obviously she had said something to the others.

“I bet you said something though.”

“I might have, but they will have to get use to it. She is yours now and you have every right to do that and more with her.”

“That’s right...” replied Gabrielle and she got off Harry and looked around the nearly empty Common Room. “...I’ll do anything you ask.”

Harry didn’t understand why he smiled at her comment but did so.

“Where’s Ron and Hermione.”

“Um...ah....” Stammered Ginny not really wanting to tell.

“What did you do?”

“Nothing they just wanted to wake you. Hermione looked furious when she saw the pair of you but I sort of...threatened her.”

“What!”

“I had too she would have woken you both up... but I think she’s mad at not only me.”

“Yes I can imagine I need to talk to them...both.”

“There maybe more.” Said Ginny lowering her head.

“What...who else did you threaten?”

“No-one.” Ginny replied defensively.

“Then what?”

“Not now Harry we have to get to the train. I’ll tell you then, when I get my turn to sit on you!”

Gabrielle smiled at Ginny’s comment and gave her a small nod; it had felt so nice so perfect being with Harry it was hard to describe. Her magic had calmed and she felt so alive like no other time before in her life but she understood that she had to share and sharing could be fun!

“What is that all I’ve become...The money and the Chair!”

“Yes...what else are boy’s good for!” replied Ginny running for the portrait hole before Harry could do anything.

The three of them were still smiling as they descended the Grand Staircase. Harry could almost feel the castle emptying as their footsteps seemed to make more noise than normal. As they neared the bottom they saw Susan and Luna waiting for them. How they were always there Harry didn’t know but it was nice to see them.

All of them shared smiles and Harry was sure that Luna at the last shared a knowing look with the two girls with him. Trying to ignore this he turned to Susan.

“You will be alright here?”

“Yes I’ll be fine, there are a number of us staying behind so I’ll be alright.”

“But won’t your parents be upset.”

“No! I won’t go to them again, they’ll just lock me away for the whole period. No I’m staying her at least I can be useful. We missed Slughorn’s party but I think if I talk to him it will be ok, I’m sure he’ll invite use to the first one in the New Year. I’ll do my best to find everything I can about him here so we are ready, as we really need to get back to other... matters.”

Harry nodded.

“Yes you are right. Ok when we get back we’ll all meet again and see how things are progressing.”

“As long as you tell us all of the juicy details Harry.” Suddenly replied Luna looking between him and Gabrielle.

Ginny laughed at this comment and linked her arm into Harry’s. Before he had a chance to react, she turned him towards the door and led the rest out of the castle.

As soon as they stepped outside the realised how cold it was. The wind was blowing the snow around and soon all of them were lightly covered in it. Harry drew his wand and with the help of Ginny started to re-melt the path that the other students had used to go to the station. As they walked down the hill, Harry felt the change in magic as he left the security of Hogwarts. He had been under it’s wards for so long that he had forgotten about it but as he walked outside and was thinking of the return trip to London he felt it.

With the blowing wind there was little conversation until they made it into the shelter of the train station. The Red Steam engine was already producing lot’s of steam which mingled with the snow in the air. Harry glanced the length of the platform and noticed a number of Aurors standing guard as various students climbed aboard.

He turned a looked at Susan, he didn't know what he was supposed to do, shake hands, kiss her or what. She had been such a help this term he couldn’t thank her enough. Even though things had turned differently they would never have been able to beat Mr Cavendish. Smiling at her he pulled her into a quick hug.

“Thanks Susan for everything you’ve done. I really appreciate it, see you later.”

Susan blushed hard and was unable to reply. She stood rooted to the spot as her body trembled and the first real contact Harry had made towards her. Ginny to gave her a hug followed by Gabrielle. She wanted to say something to the young girl but couldn’t find the words so she just settled on another smile.

Luna was last and she threw her arms wide around Susan and pulled her close. But unlike the rest she kissed Susan. Their lips seemed intertwined and Harry suddenly thought that he should look away. As the kiss deepened he saw Luna slowly rub herself up and down the front of Susan. He didn't know whether it was on purpose but he really now had to look away.

He heard the kiss break and few very quiet words were spoken.

“I’ll be back before the others and then we can continue...Sunshine.”

“Look after yourself...Loony.”

Harry pulled open the door and waited for the rest to get in before he too followed suit. He looked back out of the window into the face of Susan. Her face was flushed and he could see her chest beating under the layer she wore but it was the mixture of lipstick on her lips that seemed to tantalise him, with a brief wave he turned and headed deeper into the train as he felt the carriage start to move.

“Let’s find seats.” He called out, but it seemed that Luna wasn’t listening because she had the window down and was leaning as far out as she could waving or doing something back towards the still standing Susan. With a slight shake of his head walked off to find a compartment.

It wasn’t long before he found Ron and Hermione they were sitting close together but both looked...annoyed. He slid open the door an ushered in the others, well all except Luna who was now nowhere to be seen.

“Hi!”

“Sleep well?” Asked Hermione with an accusing tone.

“Yes I did thank you and thank you for not waking me I haven’t really sleep well all week.”

“Why!”

“Why do you think, we’ve been working hard for Gabrielle.”

“A lot of good that did!”

“Hermione!” challenged Harry.

“Don't you Hermione me...she used you, she’s using you! She’s trying to break you and Ginny up!”

Harry signed a little and sat himself down opposite Ron and Hermione Ginny immediately squirmed in next to him and lounged against his side. Gabrielle quietly sat on the open space at the end of his seat but seemed to almost shrink as if she didn't want to be noticed. Harry pulled out his wand and made a quick motion with it to windows. The blinds on the windows facing the corridor rolled shut. The one on the door was left open; he didn't want anybody to think that something improper was happening he just didn't want people looking at Gabrielle.

As he leaned back he could feel Ginny’s arms encircling him as he did so. He was tempted to turn and give her a quick kiss but the look on Ron’s face stopped him. Ron had never had any problems with the pair of them and even a quick kiss would not set him off but the look on his face said something different yet it wasn’t direct at him Ron seemed to be scowling at his sister.

Knowing that that was something else that he was going to have to deal with he turned his face back to Hermione who was still waiting for an answer.

“Yes she used me, but she isn’t trying to break Ginny and I up.” He calmly replied.

She turned and faced Gabrielle.

“And I believed you...How wrong was I!”

“NO HERMIONE! She has told me everything.”

“She can’t have done it’s not in her nature.”

“She has, I think I understand why she did it now.”

“Did it? Did it! We are talking about slavery Harry she used that to get at you. She had to stay close and that was the only way because we had won!”

“Yes your right!”

“Then why did she do it if it was not to manipulate you.”

“It was to save herself.”

“Yet another lie!”

“Whether it is or not can we please leave it? The deeds been done we just have to live with it.”

“Live with it, how...how...can you say such a thing. To condone someone to slavery to allow them to give up their freedom....I...I...I thought I knew you. You have changed Harry.”

“No things have just changed around me.” He replied.

Hermione looked furious at Harry’s cryptic reply. Even to him it sounded something from Dumbledore but he waited. In a blaze of energy Hermione shot to her feet and huphed loudly.

“Come on Ron we have rounds!”

Ron got to his feet more slowly but Harry saw that he didn't meet his eyes. Harry watched as Ron pulled open the door and stepped out, Hermione followed him turned and filled the doorway.

“This curtain had better stay up!” she directed before closing the doorway and stomping down the train.

“What was that for?” asked Harry at random.

“I think she worried what you might do with us.”

“What!”

“Shush Harry let’s not worry about that. I think Hermione is just a bit upset; she’ll come round after Christmas. I’ll have a word with her over the holidays.”

“She’s going to be at the Burrow?”

“Well yes, she and Ron are going to her parents for New Year but she is spending Christmas with us.” Answered Ginny realising she had said the wrong thing.

Harry was suddenly silent. In the past few years the Weasley’s had always invited him along for Christmas, especially if Hermione was going to be there. The sudden mention that she was going to be there with Ron and he hadn’t been asked rang alarm bells in his mind. He couldn’t even recall Ron ever mentioning anything to him about it now he came to think about it. Normally the last week or two of term it would be all that Ron spoke about but not this year, some things were changing.

“Is there something you should be telling me?” he asked quietly.

Ginny waited a moment but eventually she had to reply.

“I think my mum is upset.”

“What with me?”

“I don’t think so. She could never be upset with you I think it’s me.”

“What about you?”

“Well it probably not all about me it will be about me and Gabrielle.”

“Gabrielle?”

“I’ve told you before she has a thing about me being a good girl and proper wife, not being some scarlet woman. I think she wants to speak to me on my own.”

“So?”

“If she invites you, you would bring Gabrielle along or at the least she would visit and I think Mum thinks Gabrielle would...influence me.”

“That’s not right.”

“Hush Harry I know it’s just something I’m going to have to speak to her about. Mind you she was the one that sent the paper to Ron as well as a note. I think that is why he is looking at me in the way he is.”

“I’ll have a word.”

“No Harry let me; you have enough to worry about without concerning yourself over my family.”

Harry wanted to argue more but Ginny had turned round and proceeded to capture his lips in hers. She didn't want to spend the last hour she was going to have with Harry before Christmas talking she had much better things she could be doing with her lips.

**

For most of the rest of the journey they stayed like that. Ginny would whisper at Harry and her would either smile or giggle but every so often she would trap his lips for a deep kiss. The pair of them were like that when Luna walked in. Neither of the noticed anything until they looked up and saw her reading the quibbler. In embarrassment the pair broke out in laughter which caused Luna to look over the top of the magazine.

“You can continue I quite like watching, but I’m sure it would be more fun if I joined in as well.”

Unfortunately it was at that moment that Hermione walked back in. Harry was glad that Ron probably had not heard that comment but Hermione’s look was still painful enough.

By the time they got to London Harry had managed to get his two best friends to talk a little but the conversations were mainly limited to school work or Quidditch and even that didn't generate the passion it normally did. As soon as the station appeared everyone started to rise and pull their luggage from the racks, as most people were only returning for a little while there were none of the large trunks or such like to deal with. Harry rose with the rest to a slightly protesting Ginny; Harry was beginning to feel the loss of her already, as soon they would be parted for a few days at the least. He really didn't mind, but having a girlfriend for the past term had been so nice.

The train started to slow and Harry could make out the large number of people waiting on the platform, for some reason he suspected that many were there to see him and possibly his new ‘Veela.” Dreading having to face all of that he hung back slightly hoping it would all pass.

Everyone swayed a little as the train finally stopped and all started to head for the door. Harry found himself at the back letting everyone go first but it was soon clear that this had been Ginny’s plan. As soon as everyone had left the compartment she spun and kissed him once more. This time it was hard and had and intensity brought on but the sudden thought about loss.

“Look after yourself and her too.” She whispered as she broke apart from him.

“You too.”

“Come one let’s get this over with.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes you are mine whether you have a Veela or not.”

Harry got off the train and looked the length of the platform. There were a number of Aurors around that he could see as well as the Weasley family at the far end. Bracing himself for what was about to come he lightly grasped Ginny’s hand and set off down the platform, absently he noted that Gabrielle had waited for them and was trailing a short distance behind. Many of the adults watched the small group pass and Harry heard the whispers start especially when they caught sight of Gabrielle. It was only the pressure of Ginny’s hand squeezing hard every time he wanted to react that stopped himself from turning and saying something.

As they came to the Weasley’s he discretely let go of Ginny. Ron and Hermione were there as well as Molly and Fred but that was all.

“Hello Harry it is nice to see you so well.” Gushed Molly and she stepped forward and enveloped him in a hug.

“Thanks Mrs Weasley.”

“That’s quiet alright. I imagine you will be returning to school early.”

“Um...why’s that?”

“Well with the meetings at your house and not having your friends there I just thought that you would want to get back, where it’s safe and away from...influence.”

“I...don’t know yet.”

“Well you know Arthur and I would have invited you for Christmas but with Hermione and everybody I don't think there’s enough room. But we will speak to Dumbledore you may be able to visit for a day at least.”

“Thanks Mrs Weasley.” He replied clearly understanding what she was really saying.

“Well we must go and I bet Moody is anxious to get you home as well. Have a good Christmas...Come Ginny.”

Ginny gave Harry a small smile before trotting off after her mother, he hadn’t failed to notice that for once Molly hadn’t hugged Ginny or even said a few words. Harry silently wished Ginny some luck and vowed to send Hedwig to her with a letter to see if he could cheer her up.

“Ready Potter?” Grumbled Moody as he walked up to Harry.

Harry tried to put the Weasley’s out of his mind for the moment as he turned and looked at Gabrielle.

“Yes I think it’s time to go home.”
