Two weeks later
“Couldn’t you just wait till I was gone to bring all this shit in?” Sunny said between giggles as Brendon pushed yet another amp into what it was her room till a few days ago.
“Nope.” Ryan said with a grin, kissing her cheek and dragging her suitcase to the living room.
Sunny shook her head and roamed the house looking for anything she might have forgotten around. It looked different now, most of her stuff was already in LA, except some pictures Ryan refused to let her take and a few flower vases. Ryan said it was for the “feminine touch” he wanted to keep (how two gays need help with feminine touches was beyond her).
William dragged her suitcase and loaded it to Ryan’s car outside, their new apartment was set and ready and Sunny wondered how it would be to start over again, if she could call that apartment home. Walking through the kitchen, thinking she should have made pancakes one last time, just for the sake of it.
“Stop it or you’ll end up leaving a hole in the middle of the house.” William said looking at her amused.
“Oh, shut it.”
“We’ll be fine, Sunny.” He said hugging her.
“I know.” She said hugging back. “It’s just weird. I’ve lived here for the past five years.”
“I know.” William kissed her forehead. “Take you time… or not, we have to leave soon.” He chuckled and cupped her face kissing her sweetly.
“Oops.” Ryan’s voice made the couple jump apart. “Sorry about that.” He added with a smile. “Done pacing around the house?”
“Apparently no.” William giggled and ducked a hand to his head. Sunny sighed and looked at Ryan who looked back. “Yeah, BFF time or whatever.” He chuckled and kissed Sunny’s cheek before leaving the kitchen.
“So.” Ryan cleared his throat. “You’ll be back next weekend and make me pancakes, right?”
“Of course. Maybe I should leave frozen meals for the rest of the month too.”
“Please do so. Brendon’s cooking sucks worse than mine.”
“Oh my god! You both are gonna starve to death!” Sunny giggled, covering her face with one hand while Ryan burst out laughing. Then he sighed and held her close, making her wrap her arms around his slender figure and hold him there.
“I’m going to miss you.” He whispered to her ear and put his arms on her shoulders, his forehead against hers. Sunny did the same and looked straight at him. “Is there--” Ryan bit his lip and stopped, but Sunny knew what he meant anyways.
“No. And you shouldn’t even have to ask.”
“I know.” He said half smiling. “But I had to try anyways.” Sunny rolled her eyes at him and he chuckled. “I love you, Sun.”
“I love you too, Ryan.”
Ryan smiled at her words, rubbing his nose with hers and pecking her lips slightly. Then curled his arms around her waist and squeezed her, lifting her from the ground, making Sunny squeal and giggle.
“Sorry to interrupt.” William said back in the kitchen. “But we have to go.”
“Okay.” Sunny and Ryan nodded and watched William walk out.
Sunny kissed Ryan’s head and held his hand as they walked outside, Brendon came on their tail ranting about airplanes and how you didn’t have to purchase the little earphones airlines sold cause they always had a side busted and the lotion he wanted to get at the duty free shop. Ryan shook his head and climbed on the car. Out of habit Sunny climbed on the front seat too, leaving poor William to suffer Brendon’s eloquence.
20 minutes later, they were at the airport.
“Call me when you get there. And I will be picking you up next weekend, so if you don’t come I’ll just camp here for two days. You don’t wanna do that to me, do you?” Ryan said as they were waiting to board.
“Phone call and fly in this weekend. Got it.”
Another round of hugs before William held Sunny’s hand as they boarded the plane. When she looked back, Ryan was standing there, looking at her with his hands stuck in his pockets, half smiling. Sunny felt like crying, but realized it was a stupid thing to do, this wasn’t a good bye and sooner than later she’d be back, cause they were part of each other and not distance or time could work against that.
They were friends.
Friends forever.
