I never saw the signs,
turning away from the truth
which I knew in my heart.
My brain calling out it’s lie.
You were my friend,
hard to find.
There by my side,
but gone like yesterday.
Changed so much,
in so little time.
I felt so discarded.
You told me to stay away from those human poisons,
but temptation called to you,
and those words you told to me those many times,
seemed like dust.
Nothing.
Maybe you knew what they were capable of,
saving me from the same fate.
But causing me a future of change,
good and bad.
I would have been there for you,
step by step
mile by mile
years and years.
I loved you.
Hard to believe now,
as I turn away from your grave.
turning away from the truth
which I knew in my heart.
My brain calling out it’s lie.
You were my friend,
hard to find.
There by my side,
but gone like yesterday.
Changed so much,
in so little time.
I felt so discarded.
You told me to stay away from those human poisons,
but temptation called to you,
and those words you told to me those many times,
seemed like dust.
Nothing.
Maybe you knew what they were capable of,
saving me from the same fate.
But causing me a future of change,
good and bad.
I would have been there for you,
step by step
mile by mile
years and years.
I loved you.
Hard to believe now,
as I turn away from your grave.
