Chapter 1

Lena looked up at the dragon. Golden wings shining in a horrible beauty in the sun. Lena's green eyes locked on the beasts ruby gem like eyes of the winged killer in front of her. Her sword clutched in her hand. Her shield shattered and tossed to the side hours ago. Her pale skin browned by ash and dust for the fiery insides of the beast. Her red hair tangled and matted, sticking to her head in places from the sweat of the hard work.

It had been hours and still the damned dragon seemed unharmed. Lena on the other hand was reaching her limit. One girl could not defeat such a mighty beast. She was starting to damn herself for having even taken on this hellish quest to begin with.

With a small groan her knees finally gave out from exhaustion causing her to rock foreword on to her hands, her sword falling uselessly to her right. She stared at the ground as tears and sweat dropped silently on to the dirt below her calloused hands. Lena tried to breath and clear her mind. She tried to force herself back to her feet.

Every moment she spent uselessly laying on the ground brought the evil closer to her home. To her people, and to her family. She had to get up and fight!

Suddenly a horrible sound caused her to look up in horror. It was the roar of the mighty dragon. The dragon was now preparing to attack her. Her green eyes widened in fear as the gigantic beast flapped his wings and lifted in to the air like some sort of deranged angel before turning its full fury on the now defenseless girl.

Lena attempted to get to her feet. But her body was far to weak. She had pushed herself to her limit and there was nothing left for her to do but wait for what would hopefully be a short and painless death. Though, for some reason the idea of having her flesh melted off her bones by acids in the pit of this great beasts gut. Damn.

The dragon plunged down at her eyes aflame and wings flapping anger. Lena closed her eyes in fear, not wanting to see the teeth before they ripped threw her body.

But the bit never came. Lena opened her eyes to a flash of light and a high pitched scream of the dragon as it staggered back on his legs. Its right wing smoldering as if it had been set aflame. Lena was confused. What had happened. She looked around before her green eyes seemed to light up with happiness as she saw people running up to her.

One was a slightly larger then average man holding a sword at his side. His once shinning silver armor now tarnished with years of battles and dust. His features screwed up his handsome face in to an angry glare at the great now wounded beast. Behind him came a slightly older man clad in a gray robe and bearing a wooden staff. His blond hair graying at the ends and his calm and intelligent blue eyes where filled with concern for the girl. “Let us go Lena. You, no we, are not ready to face such an evil as this.” He said lifting her silently to her feet.

“Marcus.. Adam.. how did you know to find me here.” Adam looked back at her a moment as he backed away from the dragon hoping that the beast would not notice they where making a run for it until they where long gone. “We heard about the dragon and assumed you would be they only person dumb enough to face him on they’re own.”

Lena glared at him but just as she was about to yell at him Marcus interrupted. “You two can fight when we are a safe distance from this thing.” Adam growled. “I hate to agree with the mage but we have no choice, we will need help with this one.

The dragon began to regain its composure. It wrapped its wing but could not lift itself. Adam sheathed his sword. “Yeah.. now would be a good time to run.” He said before he scooped up Lena and slung her over his shoulder and grabbed the mage by the arm dragging him as far from the dragon and its keep and in to the darker parts of the forest.

Lena kicked her feet. “Put me down!” Adam tossed her to the ground. “Fine..”

Marcus however out of breath he was looked back in the direction he came. “Do not think we can relax now.” Lena looked up. “Why? The dragons wing was injured its not as if it can come after us.” Marcus shook his head and soon Adam looked in to the same direction. “I don’t think he’s worried about the dragon.” The armor clad warrior said lifting a hand and pointing behind Lena. The green eyed girl now turned around to see two large green orcs glaring down at them. Skin seeming to peel away from they’re bodies and covered in pussing growths.

Marcus took a inadvertent step back. “Not just Orcs, they are undead, There is a Necromancer around here…”
