Damn, this chapter gave me the shivers. Good work.Author's response
Nice to know that I'm able to elicit that sort of response. Now the next chapter is currently being written and I hope to have it off to beta by thet end of this weekend. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

I feel so bad for what happened to most of the witches and wizards. Could Harry come up with a way to bring witches and wizards back together again? Maybe teach them spells while he never finished his education DA should have taught him that he is a great teacher. All he needs is wands. Could he some how find a way to get into Gringotts. Have them give Harry all the wands stored in vaults. And maybe make an agreement with the Goblins to come out of there self imposed exile. Some of that gold could be used to create a new school. Harry could teach when he can. And his students when they get good enough can teach other witches and wizards.Author's response
That was the general idea. I'm glad I was able to elicit the emotions dealing with the loss of the knowledge that the wizarding world had.
Now I can't comment on your other thoughts as I would give away the plot, but keep on reading and reviewing. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

Most of the wizards dead, all formal education in ruins, and something very bad happened at hogwarts for dumbledore to cordon it off as he did... Nasty. I wonder if the Goblins will end up playing any part in the story. The potter and black fortunes are probably still there, along with everyone elses. I am of the opinion that there was more than gold, silver, and bronze in those vaults... something like books and heirlooms.
Anyway, I hope you post another chapter soon, because that ending was EVIL. Evil evil cliffie.
Regards,

Yeah, I had been telling people that I hadn't seen this sort of thing done in any other fic. Complete socio-economic collapse due to external influences made worse by the pureblood attitudes displayed by Voldemorts lackeys. Just wait till you see wait I have in mind. The setup is already starting and it's going to be a few chapters, but when it happens, I honestly don't think that anyone had pulled this stunt either. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

Now that was a brilliant twist and suddenly raises this story to one of my favorite HP crossovers.
The death of magic on Earth is nicely plausible as is the history of Voldemort's time in charge of Britain. It is deeply ironic that Voldemort's attempt to bring Pureblood supremacy instead indirectly led to the destruction of their culture and society.
I will now make a few predictions: Firstly, Voldemort, still immortal, is bound within Hogwarts. Secondly, Harry needs to find and destroy the Horacruxes (possbily a lot easier with the power of the 23rd Century UFP behind him) before facing and destroying Voldemort ("Hi Tom, meet Mr. Phaser!"). Finally, Harry is going to be a saviour in another way: He will bring back magic to Earth and will ensure that those with the power find their place in the Federation. Maybe ultimately to become the UFP's equivalent of Jedi?
I suspect that Remus' letter will contain all the information that Harry needs to start on his quest. I also wonder if Hermione and Luna may have left some clues for him too.
Very nice idea. Well done!

I'm glad that you liked it and that this is now one of your favorite crossovers. Setting up the complete socio-economic collapse of the wizarding world wasn't easy. It was an intense piece of research to figure out how to do it plausably. I'm not going to address your predictions as doing so would give away what I have in mind. I'll fully admit though that the setup for the next big twist is already starting. It's going to be a few chapters before I sideswipe everyone with it but its another one of those I don't think that I have seen anyone try this stunt before either.
In the meantime, Keep on reading and reviewing. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

Now that was an interesting twist! The other reviewers have pretty much said what I'm thinking about this story, so I'll just say that I agree with them. This is a lot of fun and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Looking forward to more

Thank you Red. Now just wait till you see what I have planned next. I've already started the setup in this chapter. Its going to take a few chapters to get it all prepped, but when it does, it's going to be another one of those "I don't think that I have seen anyone pull this one." Good twists are hard to do and they take a lot of ground work to set up. That being said, Please keep reading and reviewing. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

Now those wer some interesting and plausible twists. I like the way you're taking this and look forward to seeing where it goes next. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the contents of the letter and just what info has been left for Harry; given Luna's talents, I suspect he's going to find some surprising information. In addition, there are other items and I have to wonder just how well that wand is going to work for Harry since it's close to his own.
Keep it up, this is a very most enjoyable read.Author's response
It took me a while to come up with something that was plausible and unique. Lets face it, I don't think anyone tried the socio-economic collapse of the wizarding world before. I'm currently working on the letters and doing my best to see what I can do to set up the next big event that's a few chapters down the road. Hopefully I will have this one I am writing finished be the end of the weekend. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

A heck of a twist there, and really liked how things went with the explanations of how badly the world tearing itself up like it did hurt wizarding kind. Looking forward to what is in the letters, and how things will continue on as Harry heads back to the Academy with his new wizarding friend, I hope she is anyway. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever

Wowser! So that explains why Harry can't find a magical civilization on Earth. I was hypothesizing that magical folks left Earth but, DANG! I wasn't expecting this.
In a way, you've hit one of my peeves about the ST Universe - what did happen after Col. Green and the Eugenic Wars? We know a bit about about the first conflict but not much else. Oh, well. Maybe the new movie and sequels will touch on that piece of ST lore.
The letter ought to be interesting and would probably tug at Harry's heartstrings. If you haven't written it yet - good luck. You're probably going to need it.
Now I'm wondering about the future of this story. I'm torn between "how does Harry finally get the Voldemort monkey off his back" or "does Harry rebuild the magical world, and if so, how?" Although the Voldemort issue would have to be resolved, the question is whether it is a major focus of the story or not.
I think both tracks would be fun to read. Right now I'm more interested in the "Harry in Star Trek" rather than "Harry vs Voldemort in the Star Trek Universe". Does that make sense?
I (and probably every other reader as well) hope to see the next chapter soon.
Author's response
Ahhh, now your hit on an idea that I had when I started this whole thing. I'll be taking care of this issue in what I hope will be a unique and interesting way. Keep reading and reviewing. I hope that you'll be pleasantly surprised. The Wizard on the Edge of Forever
