Layla woke up to the sound of snoring. She looked around at the now dark room, the moon's light was her only way of seeing. She sat up and saw Ray sprawled out on the other side of the couch. His mouth slighty open and his hair was smushed against the couch. She quietly got up and reached for her phone. She opened it with caution and sighed with relief as she had no messages or missed calls from him. She checked the time and quickly went for the door. He would be home no sooner than an hour just like he always did. He would leave after his outburst, and return home several hours later. She never dare question where he went, not like he would be honest with her anyways. Layla carefully reached for the doorknob, when she heard Ray shuffle then awake.

"Layla where are you going?" Ray questioned with a yawn.

"I have to go home." Layla replied softly. She saw Ray stand up and instantly stood in front of her. His facial expression was clearly out of fear.

"Layla, please just stay here. It's dangerous to be out so late." She shook her head.

"Ray I have to go. He'll be home soon. I'm sorry." She whispered and turned for the door when she felt a force on her wrist. She turned back around and faced him while he still held her wrist.

"Layla. Be careful." Layla stared at him and nodded. She turned to the door, and left without another word. She pulled her hoodie over her face and walked back home where she checked over back every now and then when she would hear something. She walked back up the driveway and smiled as the lights were still off, and no car was in the driveway. She jogged to the door and locked it behind her. She felt the wall for the light switch and the living room came to life. She walked to the bedroom and hung her hoodie back up, and to the bathroom where she cringed as the bruise on her cheek was so swollen. She grabbed a rag and let the cold water soak it before lying on the bed and placing it back on her cheek. While laying there, Layla let her mind lollygag. She anticipated Daniel's return and prayed he was no longer angry. The littlest things can set him off, and she's his stress reliever. She grabbed her favorite silk pillow and hugged it tight.

"Why does it have to be this way? Why can't he just love me like he used too?" She whispered into thin air. When she got no response, she continued on talking.

"He'll come around. He's just going through stuff. He's lost in grief, I just need to be patient, I know it." She tried to convince herself. The sound of a car engine snapped her out of her thoughts. She heard the front door slam open and she quickly resumed her formal position and shut her eyes tight. She heard footsteps come closer and he finally appeared into the bedroom. She didn't move a muscle as he came closer, which was extremely hard as he layed a hand softly down her arm. She felt the bed shift as he layed in the bed with her, causing Layla's breathing to become irregular. When she heard him snore she was finally at peace and drifted into her own slumber. But while she slept, she had a hard time forgetting about Ray's face and how he looked at her with worry.......

"Layla!" Someone shouted. She yawned and opened her eyes to find Daniel looking down on her with an irritated expression. She quickly sat up and he rolled his eyes.

"For fuck's sake! I've been telling you to wake up for almost and hour now." Layla bit her lip while he continued to scrutinize her.

"I'm sorry." She whispered. He huffed then walked towards the closet and changed into his clothes. He turned to face her while he buckled his belt.

"I have to go see Mark. Apparently his car got broken into, and they stole his briefcase, and I need to reboot all his work online." Layla nodded and he continued.

"I'll probaly be gone for a couple of hours. You know the rules, do the cleaning and all that shit."

"Yes." she muttered.

"What?"

"Yes!" she said alittle louder. He nodded and grabbed his jacket. Daniel sauntered over to her, and glared.

"And make sure you stay inside the damn house. I see that 'Ray' guy looking over here, and I gotta tell you, I'm not happy. Stay. Away. From. Him." He growled. Layla was whining inside her head, Ray was her best friend, how could she stay away from him? He was her only friend that she could fully trust, she couldn't give up on him like that. All she could do was pretend to understand.

"I will." She said firmly, even though she wouldn't. Daniel seemed happy with her answer then kissed her.

"Good girl." He smirked then walked out, where she sighed as he left down the street. She slowly got up and dragged herself into the shower, where she relaxed in the warm spray. When she got out, she dressed in a white tank top and black skinny jeans. She didn't bother to fix her hair and let it air dry. She quickly cleaned up around the house and put the dishes and laundry away, as she was putting Daniel clothes away, her phone began to scream.

Right now, I'm outside of your window with my radio.
I sleep with one eye open so-

"Hello?" she said softly. She heard shuffling then Gee's voice became clear.

"Mikey, shut the fuck up!" He yelled on the other line, where she heard Mikey singing.

"Layla?"

"Yes?"

"Sorry about that, asshole over here, thinks he's on American Idol."

"I am bitch." She smiled as Mikey retorted.

"Anyways! well, I kinda need a favor from you." Layla sighed with worry.

"What kind of favor?"

"Well I was supposed to go pick up some more powder from Bob today, but I can't cause I have other shit to do, and Mikey has to go his doctor for his eyes. So can you please pick it up from him, I promise it'll be worth your time." Layla played with her fingers, she wasn't exactly friends with Bob, he seemed to not like her, no matter how hard she tried to talk to him.

"Gerard, I don't know." She said breathlessly while thinking of Daniel, he would be so pissed if he found out.

"Layla please! Bob's already pissed at the fact that I was supposed to come yesterday! He's not gonna hold it for me, forever. Please?" She sighed.

"Alright fine. What time?"

"In 30 minutes or so."

"Okay." she sighed.

"Thank you! I love you. Just drop it off to me when you get it from him."

"Alright." She hung up the phone and quickly got her shoes on. She checked the time and ne arrowed her eyes as it read 1:24. She never slept that late before. She locked the door and put her keys in her pocket as she made her way to Bob's house. It wasn't too far from her house, which was good. Atleast she would be home before Daniel was. She reached a grey house, that belonged to Bob. His house was average size. It had a brick pathway to front door. She hesitated on knocking the door, but did three soft knocks and patienty waited for him to open it. She zipped her jacket up when he approached the door and his smile to into a smirk. He eyed suspiciously and she just shrugged.

"Fancy, seeing you here." He raised an eyebrow.

"I'm here because Gerard sent me." She retorted. He frowned then motioned her to come in, much to her suprise. The house was incredibly clean, and smelt like fresh linen. There were several paintings on the wall and everyone of them had a Chicago trademark on it.

"Are you from Chicago?" She said softly. He smiled and nodded.

"Favorite place in the world. Wait here." And his sudden niceness was in gone in a flash. She frowned and sat down on the black couch. She almost screamed when a furry creature landed in her lap. it meowed to her, in an effort to show her no harm. She smiled and patted the cat behind it's ear. It purred gratefully and eventually sat down in her lap and fell asleep. Bob came back out with the special baggy, and she looked up at him.

"That's just Sally, she's a people person. She won't hurt anyone, not even a fly." Layla smiled and carefully layed Sally on the couch where she didn't wake up. She stood in front of Bob who handed her the bag cautiously, almost as if he didn't trust her. This made Layla upset and she finally cracked.

"Why don't you like me?" Bob stood still and stared at her.

"What?" He gasped. She rolled her eyes.

"Everytime I'm near you, you act like you hate me or something. I don't understand, I never did anything to you." He stood there utterly speechless. His blue eyes twinkled with confusion.

"I don't hate you. I'm like that with everyone, it's just who I am. I'm sorry if I made you feel that way." He said said in a low voice, obviously not fond of having to explain himself.

"Apology accepted." She said softly. He smirked and caught her eyeing the baggy in her hands. He opened it and pointed it in her direction.

"Got time for a line?" He said it so bluntly, it just rolled off his tongue and made her battle her inner temptation. In the end, it won. It always won.

"Really?" She laughed. He nodded and grinned.

"Think of it, as my way of offering a treaty for our friendship." She scoffed and let him set everything out. Half her mind was begging her to stop, but her body was overpowering her mind. Her body craved it. Needed it. Couldn't live without it. It was Layla's inner demon that refused to subside. He was in dire need of thirst, and Bob was there to supply. He did the first line and she watched in fascination. His movements were so smooth and skilled. She wondered how long he had been doing this, enough to handle it so properly. A long time she supposed. He let her do the second line and she frowned as she couldn't do it like he could. She tilted her head back and pinched her nose, smiling as the drug coursed it's way through her veins and into her whole body. Was it possible to feel this good? Layla couldn't tell if it was the drug or Bob's presence. She studied him as his eyes became even more blue. They looked amazing before, they looked beautiful now. She rationalized that she had just barely talked to him today, she was in no position to think she was somewhat into him. His eyes began to wander and finally met Layla's emerald eyes. Both hypnotizing colors. She didn't seem to notice him sitting closer and closer to her. She didn't realize it, until she felt his lips on her's and she resisted, but his lips were so soft, warm, and inviting. The drug had fully awakened her inside, and she couldn't tell the difference, between her world and the real world. He pulled back and read her expression. She reconnected her lips with his, and he gladly obliged. His tongue slipped into her mouth, and she mixed her with his. She kept her eyes closed while his mouth stayed on hers. Layla was sinking further into bliss, but when his hand felt up her shirt, and cupped her breasts through her bra, it brought her back to reality. She could feel Daniel's angry eyes on her, she quickly pushed him away and he frowned.

"I have to go, I'm sorry." She said softly.

"Wait, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfo-"

"No, it wasn't you. I just, I really have to go." She grabbed the small bag, and quickly opened the door.

"Umm thank you, I have to give this to Gerard, I'll talk to you later Bob." She smiled and he shrugged.

"Yeah, later Layla."

Layla scampered her way to Gerard's house. She ran up the steps and knocked on the door, where Gerard opened the door and shoved the bag in his hands.
He stared at her with concern.

"Are you okay?" She nodded.

"Layla! What happened to your cheek?" He gasped. She nervously looked around.

"I bumped into our door, while we were moving some stuff around. I'm clumsy, you know that." He gave a slight smile.

"Are you sure you're okay?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah I'm fine, I just have to go. I'll talk to you later okay?" She shouted as she was already on the sidewalk, not caring to turn around, as she sprinted back home. The whole time she couldn't believe she had done that with Bob. It was just a mistake, she hoped Bob understood that. She got carried away, as her only vice once again fulfilled it's need and made her feel incredible. Something she could never deny, it was useless. She froze as his car was in the driveway with it's shiny glory. She took deep breaths and slowly entered the door, she didn't see him in the living room, so she composed herself.

"And where the fuck have you been?" He shouted as he appeared in the hallway. She prepared herself as he came closer and his expression was beyond pissed.

"I thought I told you stay inside the damn house!" Layla whimpered as his voice increased in volume.

"I did, Kaila needed me to help her with with Prisc-"

"Don't lie to me, you stupid bitch. You're never gonna learn are you?" She prepared herself as he walked over to her with evil in his eyes, and fists clenched. She didn't even feel herself fall to the floor, or his hand hitting her already bruised cheek, all she could think about was Ray's dissapointed face and that hurt way more than Daniel's blows to her body......

"What is evil? Killing is evil, lying is evil, slandering is evil, abuse is evil, gossip is evil: envy is evil, hatred is evil, to cling to false doctrine is evil; all these things are evil. And what is the root of evil? Desire is the root of evil, illusion is the root of evil."- Buddha
