He dropped heavily on the couch before looking at me with the plainest look of confusion on his face.

I moved to the kitchen and made myself some tea.

“Alex, I really have to go.” Patrick called out to me.

I sat across from him in the armchair and sipped quietly.

“You’ve been practicing an awful lot Trick” I pouted. His eyes darted around the room, not focusing on me.

“So have you” he said simply his eyes focused on a knot in to wood grain of the table between us. His phone buzzed against his thigh. His hand jumped automatically to it before he looked at me.

“You can take that” I said sweetly. His eyes narrowed ever so slightly before he slipped his phone from his pocket and read the message.

“I really need to get going” he muttered tapping away on the keys of his phone.

“Where are you practicing?” My anger flaring at him completely ignoring me. Nothing. He kept tapping the keys. I waited about fifteen seconds before my anger got the better of me.

“I asked you a goddamn question Patrick” I screamed I slammed my cup on the table slopping tea everywhere. I could feel my pulse throb in my head. His eyes snapped up to me finally.

“Petes”

Suddenly my anger was completely gone. I shook my head a moment before looking up at Patrick. His mouth hung slack. I had never snapped at him like that. His outline fizzed. I squinted to focus on him. My eyelids drooped as my heart rate shot up and I felt as if my heart was trying to escape my rib cage. My stomach cramped so severely I thought I was dying. I felt a wetness between my legs before I slipped off the chair.

It all went black.

Patricks POV

Her eyes glazed over as she looked up at me. I was in shock. She never screamed at me before. She squinted before suddenly grabbing at her chest. Blood stained the chair where she sat before she slid down onto the hardwood floor and lay limp.

My heart thudded in my chest as I watched her lay there unmoving. I pool of blood was beginning to form around her.

I felt as though I was moving in slow motion. I dropped onto the floor and scooted my way over to her. I felt for a pulse in her neck before grabbing my phone and dialling 911.

Alex’s POV

The pain in my stomach was blinding. I felt like I was going to pass out again. My heart still beat like machine gun fire. My skin was clammy and I could still feel the wet between my legs. I wrenched my eyes open and saw Patrick above me frantically hissing down the phone to someone. I tried to pull myself up and I wasn’t prepared for what I saw. I was lying in a pool of my own blood. I began screaming and I heard Patrick drop the phone with a clatter before he wrapped his arms around me. I collapsed back against him as the pain ripped through me.

“Patrick whats happening” I screamed as another wave of pain hit. His hands shook as they wiped my sweaty face. I could hear the wail of the ambulance in the distance and I prayed that I would not die here. Not today.

Another episode of pain rocked me before it went black again.
