Frank and Mikey get Gerard home alright...But what happens the morning after? What happens between Mikey and Frank? Frank and Gerard?
0Unrated
Frank and Mikey sat at the kitchen table, quietly munching on their Frankenberry. A silence hung in the air, tense for the first time since the two had met. Frank cleared his throat and put his spoon down.
"So..." he said, trying to break through the obvious awkwardness hanging between them. "Where are your parents?" was all he could come up with. Mikey finished chewing before answering impassively.
"Who knows. Out, somewhere," and he went back to eating. Frank nodded and bit his lower lip, looking around the kitchen at all the cutesy little knick-knacks displayed everywhere. Mikey stopped eating once more. "Frank," he began. "What are we?" Frank didn't have to ask him what he meant.
"Well..." he said, knowing full well that he had just been wondering the same thing. "Well, I don't know," he said honestly. "I've been thinking about that...I mean, are you really...y'know..."
"Gay?" Mikey offered. Frank nodded and Mike sat back in his chair, looking off into space and thinking. "Yeah, I think so. I mean, I've never really thought about dating a girl or a guy before...the thought never occurred to me until I met you and I felt--"
"Like there had been some sort of recognition, even though we've never met?" Frank finished. Mikey looked at him, somewhat surprised.
"...Yeah, that. Exactly that. You felt it too?" Frank nodded. "So...I really like you," Mikey admitted, hoping he hadn't just made a very big mistake.
Frank looked at him in shock for a moment. Mikey? Thin, cute, adorable, funny, somewhat well-liked, Mikey wanted him? The weight that had been settling in his chest evaporated completely and it was everything he could do not to smile like the Chesire Cat. "I really like you, too," he finally said. Mikey smiled and Frank couldn't hold it in any longer, he grinned widely and couldn't stop.
"So..." Mikey continued. "Do we tell people?" Frank looked at him for a moment. Was he serious? Tell people? As in, the other kids at school? The thought was laughable.
"Are you kidding?" was all he could say.
"What?" Mikey said, defensively. "Who cares what other people think? It's none of their damn business!"
"Mikey!" Frank exclaimed, shocked at his (boy)friend's lack of sense. "You can't be serious!"
"Why not!"
"Just for starters, your brother would kill me--"
"He'd get over it!"
"--and second, I think everyone in school would beat the shit out of me!"
"Don't you think I would be just as succeptable to that?"
"No, I don't. People don't dare touch you, because they know Gerard would murder them."
"Well, that doesn't matter anyway. I don't want to have to keep it a secret that we're dating."
"We don't have to keep it a secret..." Frank said, measuredly. "But we don't have to go shouting it around school, okay?"
Mikey thought about this. "Fine..." he said. "But we have to tell Ray."
Frank frowned slightly. "Will he care?"
Mikey shrugged. "Probably not. I dunno, but who cares?" Frank also shrugged, even though inside he was nervous. What was he getting himself into? "So," Mikey continued. "What do you wanna do today?"
"Umm...I don't know," Frank thought. "What do couples usually do together?"
Mikey smiled wickedly, got up from his chair, and straddled Frank's lap. "Well," he said. "We already did THAT," Frank smirked. Mikey dipped his head and planted his mouth on Frank's, slipping his tongue inside and meshing his lips to crash against his boyfriend's. With much difficulty, the smaller boy pulled away.
"What if your brother--"
"Fuck Gerard," Mikey panted. "He's asleep anyway," he assured Frank before fusing their mouths once more.
They sat like that for a while, making out, mouths clashing, tongues crashing. When they were both out of breath, they took a break.
"Okay," said Frank. "What else do couples do?"
"What? You're not having fun?" Mikey pouted.
"I am," Frank smiled. "But your brother's gonna wake up sometime, and somehow I don't think this would be a good way for him to find out about us," he gave Mikey one last peck on the lips before pushing him off and standing up, smoothing out his clothes.
"Fine," Mikey said. "Let's go to the park. We can walk around and stuff."
And so the two spent the day together, walking around the park, taking turns pushing each other on the swings, they bought ice cream, and just talked about everything. When they got back to Mikey's house at around 6:30, it was beginning to get dark.
At around 11:30, just before noon, Gerard woke up. He opened his eyes and decided to get up, seeing as his head didn't pound at the sight of sunlight streaming in through the slats in the blinds on his window. His mouth still tasted sour from all the drinking the night before. He stretched, hearing his joints crack in protest of all the sudden movement. He yawned a few times and called out to his brother to see if he was still home. No answer.
He walked throughout the house, his search turning up fruitless. Where had they gone? No note, no text, no nothing. Hmph. Nobody was considerate anymore. They were probably just out around the neighborhood or something, but even so...
He wondered why he was so bothered by this. What did it matter to Gerard where his brother and his little friend were? Nothing, that's what. Nothing. He shrugged it off, but he really started to get pissed when he noticed they were out of Frankenberry.
Jerks.
Frank and Mikey walked in the house that evening, laughing at some joke Mikey had just made about their kooky art teacher. They found Gerard in the living room, watching the TV and not looking up as they entered.
"Hey, Gee," Mikey greeted his older brother.
"Hmm." Gerard grunted in reply.
"What's your problem?"
"Nothing," Gerard stated grumpily.
Mikey looked at Frank, who sensed the tension building in the room, and taking it as a hint. "Right," he said. "I'm gonna...go home. See you later Mike...Bye Gerard," he added awkwardly to the older boy, who ignored him. With that, he left and began his walk home, floating on air.
"Okay, Gee," Mikey said once Frank had left. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, it's just, you know, you could've left a note or texted me or something to let me know where you were...I woke up and you were just gone and I haven't heard from you all day," Gerard said,
"I'm sorry," Mikey apologized. "But you know, you could have texted me or called, I would have answered."
"I did, and you didn't answer."
Mikey took out his phone and checked to see that, yes, Gerard had sent two text messages and called three times. "I'm sorry," he repeated.
"It's fine, just call next time."
"I will." Mikey was used to his big brother being somewhat overprotective of him, and it used to annoy him, but now he appreciated it, seeing as his own parents didn't even really bother to take five seconds' interest in him. At least, he thought to himself, somebody cared.
The sky slowly darkened and Frank let his thoughts wander as he walked home from Mikey's house. So much had happened in the past few days, he wasn't sure if this was all some sort of dream. As though he'd wake up any minute to his mother shaking him, telling him to wake up, that it was his first day at his new school in New Jersey. But he didn't wake up, because this was all real.
The last two days' events ran through his mind, making his head spin. Friends, he had made friends, and that was good, right? But he had, of course, made friends with the brother of "his worst nightmare". Not so good. He had slept over said nightmare's house, been felt up by him, kissed him...and then stood him up. Stood him up to have sex with his little brother. Getting worse.
But good at the same time. He now had a boyfriend; his first one ever. But now that Mikey was his boyfriend, Frank would find it doubly-hard to stay away from Gerard, seeing as the two lived in the same house, and yet, Gerard was the one he had to stay away from the most. He was the biggest threat that Frank could think of...he had it in his mind to fuck him, the younger boy knew. Why else would he tease him like that? His head was beginning to hurt from all this pondering. He hurried the rest of the way home, and was walking in his front door just as the first rain drops were beginning to fall from the sky.
"Hey mom," he called out.
"Hi honey, did you have fun at your friend's house?" Mrs. Iero answered from the kitchen.
Frank smiled, knowing that he had had more fun than his mother cared to know. "Yeah mom," he told her.
"Good. Dinner'll be ready soon, so go feed Lady and then come set the table."
Frank walked into the dining room, shaking some dog food into the silver bowl in the corner. His mutt, Lady, came running. He stroked her head and scratched behind her ears. "Hey girl," he murmured. He'd had Lady since he was just a little kid, and she'd been with him through all the hard times. His dad leaving, his one and only friend moving away, being unanimously by, like, everyone. They had seen hell and back together.
Frank joined his mother in the kitchen. He had told her a while ago that he was gay and she hadn't minded. She had been surprisingly okay with it (she didn't actually believe that he was serious, and figured it was just a phase) and even gave him permission to date. Not that he had needed it before now. He wondered if he should tell her...
"Mom," he cleared his throat. "Mikey's my boyfriend."
Mrs. Iero looked up from what she was doing and looked at her son in shock.
Gahhh! New chapter up FINALLY! Even I was getting annoyed with myself. I'm really sorry about the disgustingly long wait, but I've really just had a shitload of homework, you have no idea. Plus, I'm also in the process of writing two different stories for the school newspaper and that's due in...3 days? So yeah, excuses-excuses, I know, but it's true. Please forgive me! So, I'm sorry if you think this chapter is crappy with grammatical errors (unusual since I'm such a grammar nazi...), I'm sorry for that because I just wanted to get this up as soon as possible before I got anymore death threats! Hahaha just kidding (kind of...) so yeah! Enough with my pointlessly long Authors' Notes for which you care naught. I'm OverAndOutxx
