Gerard’s POV
I followed her out of the store. I could tell she was pissed off but I could not tell why. I mean, I should be the one who was pissed. She took my kids away from me, not the other way around.
She led me outside of the mall where nobody was around. She turned to face me, shooting daggers at me with her eyes. I was so confused, “What in the hell do you think you are doing here?” She practically yelled at me.
“Um… I live here. And why are you so pissed? It’s not like I did anything wrong,” I said back to her.
“Yea right. You left us!” she yelled. I had no clue what she was talking about.
“I didn’t leave you! You took the girls and left me! I had no idea where you took off to!” I couldn’t believe she was pinning all of this on me when she knew the truth.
“Why did I sleep with you exactly?” What did she mean by that? It made it sound like she didn’t even want the girls.
“Dad?” I turned around to see a teenage girl with a questioning face. I knew exactly who it was.
“Danni,” I smiled. A giant smile spread across her face and she jumped into my arms. I never thought I’d see my girls again, but in one day, I’d seen both of them. At least one of them seemed happy to see me.
“I’ve missed you so much!” she said into my neck.
“I’ve missed you too,” I said back to her. I have missed her and her sister. There isn’t one day that goes by that I don’t think about them. They were the love of my life and I would do anything for them. I still would…
We kept a hold of each other until Amy cleared her throat, getting our attention.
“Well, this is a cute little reunion, but we need to go,” she grabbed Danni and started to walk back into the mall, but Danni got loose.
“No! I want to stay with dad!” she yelled as she came back over to me. She grabbed a hold of my arm and stood slightly behind me.
“What? You are acting like a two year old! He doesn’t want you. Why do you think he left?” I couldn’t believe she was still playing that card.
“He didn’t leave! You took us away. Dad would never leave me, right?” she asked in my direction.
“Not in a million years Dan... I” I was cut off.
“Whatever! You know you left us and that’s the truth! Now, let’s go Danni!” She grabbed her wrist and pulled her off of me. I tried to get her back, but Danni got loose again. She started running. She ran around the side of the building and disappeared. Amy scowled at me and then turned around to walk away.
“You can have her! It’s not like I wanted her anyway,” she said over her shoulder as she walked back into the building. I grabbed my things and went in search of Danni.
I was passing a store and I felt someone grab my arm. I turned around to see a crying Danni looking up at me. She hugged me tightly, not wanting to let go. I couldn’t blame her. Seeing as much of a bitch Amy was, I wouldn’t want to go with her either.
“Can… can I go with you?” she asked me, crying into my jacket.
“You already know the answer to that sweetie,” I kissed her temple and walked us to my car.
Nikki’s POV
I watched as my mom stormed into the store. She grabbed my arm forcefully and pulled me outside to the car. She told me to get in and that is exactly what I did. She started the car and I asked, “Mom? Where’s Danni?”
She looked at me, she was so angry I could feel the heat radiating from her skin, “She left with your father.”
“It’s a surprise he took her.” I laughed.
She pulled out of the parking lot, “It is… It really is…”
The car ride home was silent except for the radio. I kept my eyes fixed on the scenery rushing past the passenger side window. If it weren’t for my mom tapping me on the shoulder, I would have never noticed that we were home.
I helped her carry the bags inside, “Hey, mom? What do you want to do with Danni’s stuff?”
“Keep it. As far as I’m concerned, it’s yours now.”
I nodded. I took Danni’s and my things upstairs. I sat the bags on my bed and began going through everything. I pulled out all the clothes and if they were my size, I put them in my closet.
All the CD’s I put on my computer desk. I could go through those later. Everything else I put where it needed to go and then headed back downstairs where my mom was just finishing putting her things away.
I sat down on the couch, “When is Josh coming home?”
She sat down beside me and smiled, “You know, I would really appreciate if you called him dad, but he is going to be home at about seven.”
I sighed, “Are you going to try and get Danni to come home?”
She glared at me, “No. She will realize what a pig your father is and come home on her own.”
“How long do you think she’ll be gone?”
“A week at the most.” she sighed, “I really hope it’s not that long…”
“Me either…” I sighed and stood up. I walked back upstairs to my room and lay down on my bed. I glanced over at my picture of my boyfriend, Stevie and me. I remembered that he was going to come over tomorrow with his sister, Ashley.
I couldn’t wait to see him again because I had some big news for him…
