Warnings – Nudity, cursing, the works without the sex
Chapter 2
Goku didn’t give the idea a seconds thought as he banged through the bathroom door and pulled the shower curtain across the steel rod above their heads. Sanzou was completely naked and had stopped in his actions of washing up in order to blink at Goku in astonishment. Goku, however, was frothing at the mouth in anger. He could see so many bruises that he knew it would hurt if he poked Sanzou anywhere in his mid section and back.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing Monkey?” Sanzou finally found his voice.
Goku didn’t reply, instead he turned off the water and dragged Sanzou out of the shower. Sanzou was always rather surprised whenever Goku decided to man-handle him in anyway. It didn’t happen often because Goku knew that Sanzou hated it, but the Monk could see the anger in the pointed golden eyes. However, being dragged out of the shower wasn’t productive and he started cursing a blue streak.
It didn’t stop Goku though.
Hakkai and Gojyo were just as surprised as Goku pulled Sanzou into the bedroom and flew him across it, to land, thankfully, on a bed where he bounced a couple of times. That was when Hakkai and Gojyo got their first look at the extensive bruising and scrapes. Where Sanzou had gotten bloody scrapes none of them could even begin to guess.
“Sanzou, why didn’t you tell us you were hurt?” Hakkai asked, rushing to his side. Goku was all ready there. He kept pushing Sanzou down onto the bed when the man tried to rise and save some of his dignity.
“I’m fine,” Sanzou tried to bat Goku away, but he was thwarted once again.
Gojyo snorted; “I guess the Monkey has you beat,”
“Goku, what the hell is wrong with you?” Sanzou glared. Naked on a bed with three Youkai looked down on him wasn’t the best place to be, especially when you are lying on your front. He felt vulnerable and he hated it.
“Next time you have to tell us when you’re hurt,” Goku snarled and his sharp teeth glinted and for a moment Sanzou knew terror. He tried to bash it down. Goku softened and leaned in to softly pass the back of his fingers over Sanzou’s cheek.
“I just worry, you’re not like us,” Goku pointed out. It was a sobering thought for all of them. Sanzou slowly maneuvered himself up so that he now sat on the bed, he grabbed the bed covers to safe guard his nudity against prying eyes.
“I’ve never had to novelty of a trained healer, so it never crossed my mind,” he muttered, feeling that Goku needed some sort of explanation.
“So…” Gojyo blinked, “You forgot?”
“Yes, I forgot, okay?”
“Not okay,” and Hakkai was there with all of his supplies, “One of these scratches is very deep and will need stitches, Sanzou, should I give you a sedative?” he asked.
“Do it, Hakkai,” Goku said.
“Yeah, that’s painful,” Gojyo agreed.
“No, if you know what’s good for you….than you won’t come near me with anything!” Sanzou growled.
“It’s all right, you can trust us you know,” Hakkai’s smile spoke volumes. He agreed with the other two and he was either going to be bullied into it or forced.
“Trusting people has almost gotten me killed in the past,” he muttered. Hakkai sighed and started spreading some clear liquid onto a cloth.
“Than, I suppose we should teach you to trust us,” Hakkai said. He was fast – possibly faster the Goku, in seconds a hand on the back of Sanzou’s head and neck held him still so that Hakkai could cover his mouth and nose with the sedative soaked rag. His hands were held in a gentle but firm hold by Goku and Gojyo was there now.
“Go to sleep, Sanzou,” he heard Gojyo say and then there was nothing but dizziness and darkness and all he wanted right then was to sleep. He did send up a prayer that he wouldn’t die by their hands.
They rolled Sanzou over and onto his front so that Hakkai could start cleaning his wounds and stitching the long wound that went from shoulder to hip. It was infected as well from neglect. Not that Sanzou could have washed it himself if he were alone. Gojyo whistled as the three surveyed the damage to their Human.
“Damn,” Goku mumbled.
“It’s all right, it’s a simple cut and I’ll have to drain the puss first before I stitch it closed again,” Hakkai said as he brought a small knife out to disinfect and start cutting into the healed tissue.
“What do you want us to do, Hakkai?” Gojyo asked.
“He has to eat something, I’ll need you to just bring back green tea and rice,” Hakkai replied, “He’s far to thin, I’ve been worried about him for a while,” as he talked, he cut into the skin around the injury, blood and green puss swelled behind the knife.
“That’s gross,” Goku gagged, “I don’t think I’ll be able to eat now,”
“Come with me, Goku,” Gojyo said, steering the Monkey away, “Hakkai likes to work alone,” and with that, they left Hakkai to his job.

He stood in the middle of a courtyard with high rock walls. In the middle was a tree and by that tree was Komyou – smoking his pipe – smiling. He held out a hand which had always meant for Koriyou to join him. The small boy – when had he grown smaller? – ran up to the Sanzou Priest.
“What’s going on here?” Koriyou asked, serious as ever. Inside, however, he was so happy just to see his Master that he could have acted as any other child and be jumping for joy. Komyou understood and a hand descended to ruffle bright, sunshine hair.
“This is a dream,” Komyou replied, “I am sorry to say it is,”
“It’s all right,” the boy sighed. When he awoke he knew he would be alone again. There was a part of him that wished that he could join his Master in the afterlife. He had a job to do, and he knew that he couldn’t die just yet.
“Koriyou,” and the voice was soft, understanding, “I will always be with you,”
“I know…” he nodded his head, trying to keep the tears from welling up. He never let anyone see him cry, not ever.\
Komyou, bent so that he was on his knees and eyelevel with the child; he smiled and clasped Koriyou to him tightly; “Never forget that I am always watching over you. I know that you’re companions are worried about you,” he sighed, “I think that I may have failed you,”
“You never failed me, Master,” Koriyou shook his head against the white fabric of the Sanzou robe. The same robes he wore. He hadn’t known it at the time that he wore his Master’s old robes, but someone had thought of it and had repaired it to the point where no one would know. It had taken him a good year and a half to find out himself.
“I’m going to kill them one of these days…” Koriyou muttered.
Komyou just laughed slightly as he pulled away, pipe back in his mouth; “They’re only worried about you,” and the tone was soft though Koriyou got the point.
“So, what am I supposed to do?”
“Learn what they have to teach you, we can never stop learning and they know what to do and it isn’t shameful to let others be in charge if they know exactly how to handle a situation,”
And with that…Sanzou awoke to night. A single lamp burned on the bed side table next to a tray of rice and tea. He didn’t reach for the food, instead he kept himself still – and tried to decipher the dream. Which, he realized was odd because Komyou Sanzou ever just told it as it was.
