Chapter Two- Discovery

“Hogwarts was supposed to safe!” Molly cried, face pale and drawn. “How could Deatheaters get into Hogwarts?"

The past days had been seeing to the consequences of the invasion a day ago. Death Eaters lead by Bellatrix Lestrange and Draco Malfoy had entered through the Room of Requirement for the sole purpose to kill Dumbledore and kidnaps Harry Potter. They had succeeded in one but failed in the other. Severus Snape had been revealed as a traitor when he had saved Ernie Macmillan from Antonin Dolohov.

Dumbledore and Harry had arrived from their Horcrux hunt and landed in the Astronomy Tower where they had engaged the Death Eaters that had made up there. Draco had succeeded in Disarming Dumbledore and had taken his wand. But Harry, refusing to let another friend die, had engaged him, throwing him to the other side and taking his wand and Dumbledore’s into his possession. The Death Eaters arrived just as Harry gave the Headmaster’s wand back. Together they had forced them back down into the Great Hall when a blast had torn through, knocking Harry and Ginny who was fighting next to him unconscious. In the ensuing confusion, Greyback had kidnapped them both and disappeared.

Their disappearance was later discovered after the Death Eaters had been rounded up and the students attended to.

“Draco Malfoy repaired the Vanishing Cabinet that Peeves damaged a few years ago.” Dumbledore answer solemnly, overlooking the various devices on his desk. “It appears one of Lord Voldemort’s supporters had one and through the connection between these two Cabinets, the Death Eaters were able to gain access.” He tapped an instrument, watching it twirl around and around.

“At least we were able to capture quite a few of them. Bellatrix, the Carrows, and eleven others have been safely ferried back to Azkaban where they belong.” Arthur said, trying to calm his frantic wife. “Fenrir couldn’t have gone far with Harry and Ginny. We have his wand.”

“But it’s the night of the full moon. The beast has had them for a day now. I can’t lose my only daughter, Arthur.”

“Let us hope Potter does not do anything rash.” Snape softly said. “Merlin knows how trouble tends to find him.”

Molly gave a soft cry, grabbing the conjured handkerchief Arthur handed her and burying her face into it. “Oh, Albus, how can we find them?”

“Sirius, Remus, Tonks, and Kingsley are scurrying the trail we believed that Fenrir took. If the trail provides to be true, then we have a chance of getting them before they fall into Voldemort’s hands.” Dumbledore looked up as Minerva burst into the room. “Have you news of the injured?”

His Deputy nodded. “I have heard back from St. Mungo’s, Arthur, Molly. It looks like William will be okay. He will be heavily scarred however from Fenrir’s attack. The rest will recover in time.”

“What about the students?” Arthur asked.

Minerva gave a small smile. “It looks like Mr. Potter gave them the Felix Felicis Professor Slughorn gave him. They all took a sip of it before engaging the Death Eaters. They have no wounds among them, thank Merlin. Ron told me that Ginny’s sip probably ran out right before the explosion, which explain why Greyback was able to get to her. As for Draco Malfoy, he is currently being secreted to the safe house.”

Dumbledore sat down behind his desk, looking more aged than Arthur had ever seen him. “I can only hope that Voldemort does not seek him out like he did with James and Lily.”

Tonks followed Remus on her broom, wand held before her. Remus was padding silently before her, nose to the ground. Thanks to the Wolfsbane, the former professor was in complete control of his wolf, using its senses to sniff out the trail that Fenrir had taken during his retreat from Hogwarts. They had been traveling steady for the past six hours. So far, she hadn’t seen any sign of a foot print or anything the past meters. Perhaps the trail Sirius and Kingsley were following was the true one.

She could not believe how easy the rabid werewolf had been able to kidnap Harry and Ginny from right under their noses during the battle. Harry himself weighed about a hundred and fifty pounds easily and Ginny was another a hundred and twenty. But then again, the werewolf was stronger than any normal man.

How livid Sirius had been when he had been told of what happened. How the Death Eaters broke into the school during their mission to kill Dumbledore. Their only saving grace was the fact Dumbledore had put the clues together and called upon the Order to roam the halls. Even the students that made up Dumbledore’s Army had been called into service.

A wild bark sounded from Remus who was now circling around a particular spot.

“You’ve found the trail, Remus?” The wolf looked up, tail wagging happily. Then he shot off. Tonks flew higher, clearing the tops of the scraggly trees. If the mission hadn’t been so serious, she would be enjoying the fact that her crush was beautiful as he loped easily through the shrubs.

Soon, Remus was entering a clearing. Circling, Tonks only saw a bloodied body near the middle, Remus bending over it. “Merlin, no, please don’t let it be them.” She angled the head of her broom down, running as she landed. She was about to touch it when Remus barked, blocking her movement with his body. She froze. Letting her hand drop, she moved around and gasped.

It was Greyback. She could tell from the telltale silvery back that was covered in congealed blood. Remus was sniffing around it, walking away then coming back. Tonks glanced around. Blood seemed to have been thrown everywhere, sure signs that Ginny and Harry had both fought.

Screams had her spinning around, wand raised. It was pointless as Tonks could only watch as Remus shifted back into his human form, the sun peeking over the mountains. Blushing at his naked form, she quickly removed the package he had given her the previous afternoon. She placed it in his hands before turning around to give him a sense of privacy.

As the clothes rustled in the silence, Tonks spoke. “Do you think they got away?”

“There’s a chance.” Came the hoarse reply. “Greyback is known for taunting his victims before raping and killing them. And we both know that he won’t kill Harry without Voldemort’s permission.”

“That does not comfort me, Remus.” Tonks snapped, feeling the six hours of hunting creeping up on her.

Remus let it pass. “You should signal Kingsley and Sirius.”

She pointed her wand up into the air and released a shower of sea green sparks into the air above them. “Do you think Death Eaters came?”

“I don’t smell any other person around here. Just Ginny’s, Harry’s, Fenrir’s, and two other smells that I hope they aren’t what I think they are.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean I smell two other werewolves have smells that are quite similar to Ginny and Harry’s but are more feral, more wild.” A blush started creeping over Remus’ features. “And I think I smelled sex.”

Tonks flinched, her pink hair turning a bright red color as well as her face. “What?”
“I smelled a faint scent of sex between the two werewolves. Greyback also had the smell of it around his nose but not his-” Remus motioned toward his groin area.

Any further comments were paused as Kingsley and Sirius came flying into the clearing. “You’ve found them?”

“No but we found Fenrir. It looks like we’re going to need Snuffles again.”
“What happened to him?”

“It looks like another werewolf found him and tore him apart.” Kingsley nudged a limp paw with a foot. “We need to alert the Order. Harry and Ginny might be around here somewhere and from the looks of it one of them is seriously injured.”

A minute later, Sirius’ dog Patronus was heading toward Hogwarts. Sirius turned back to his Animagus form and began sniffing around in widening circles. He gave a hacking cough when he came upon the spot where Remus believed the werewolves had sex. Then suddenly, he started heading in a direction heading west. Transforming back, Sirius nodded. “It looks like the two werewolves took off that way and one of them was bleeding somewhat heavily. The trail will be easier to follow now. It has to be Harry and Ginny. No smell of another Death Eater and two werewolves leaving while the familiar old smells of both of them stay here and disappear.”

“Do you think Fenrir infected them on purpose?”

Remus shook his head at Kingsley’s question. “No, it would be too dangerous to have two infected and uncontrollable werewolves with him, even more dangerous if one of them was Harry Potter. Voldemort wants him untouched.”

“They couldn’t have travelled far with one of them being hurt.” Kingsley stated. “They must be somewhere where they think is safe. Possibly some den, copse of trees, a cave?”

“There are a few caves in the direction they are heading.”

“They’re here.” Remus nodded toward the dots heading to them. A few minutes later, Albus, Arthur, Molly, and Snape were landing, broom held in each of their hands.

Snape walked to the bloodied corpse, face twisted in revulsion. “Is that Greyback?”

“Yes. We think it might have been Harry.” Remus said softly. Exclamations came from the two parents. The two Aurors quickly brought up the arrivals on what they believed happening, Molly paling even further at the thought that both her daughter and the boy she looked on as a seventh son was probably werewolves. She also got the hint that they may have mated in their animals forms.

“Harry is going to believe that he raped her.” Sirius said. “He’s not going to understand that he couldn’t do anything once he got bit.”

“We’re going to have to help them through this.” Arthur said softly. “We can’t have this tear our family apart.”

“If there is one thing about Potter, it’s that his skull is quite thick.” Snape pulled his robes around him, ignoring the glares he was getting from the Weasleys and Sirius. “Voldemort will soon learn of the possible location of Fenrir. Our time is quickly waning.”

“Just follow me then.” Sirius transformed back into his Animagus form while the rest mounted their brooms. While they flew over the canopy, Sirius kept to the easy trail left behind by Harry. Blood had been left on branches, exposed roots, soaked into the ground every few feet as they had moved. From the amount they had seen at the clearing, no doubt Harry had been injured gravely before turning into a werewolf.

Before long, they were at the caves. Sirius sniffed then broke out in a run. By the time he had gone into the cave, Sirius had disappeared.

Harry, please be alright. Sirius pleaded to himself, his heart in his throat as he edged deeper into the cave. Please don't leave me behind. I won't be able to forgive myself if you died. You're the only family I have left. A number of the paw prints were outline in blood, confirming that Harry had come down through here. He shifted back into his human form, ignited the tip of his wand to see. He went around the last bend and closed his eyes almost immediately.

“Shit.”

Breathing deeply as not to vomit, Sirius opened them again, blanching at the sight before him.

Both of them were naked, intimately entwined around each other. Harry had a leg thrown over Ginny’s bringing her closer to him while his arms were wrapped around her chest. Blood covered every inch of hi, some places already dried. A few trickles of blood seeped from the still gaping wounds. Slashes tore open Harry’s skin across the shoulders, sides, and back, smaller cuts and bruises decorating the rest of his body. Ginny had a smaller amount of cuts and bruises on her but otherwise, seemed intact compared to his godson. The blood that covered her appeared to be from Harry’s wounds.

He had just finished conjuring sheets for them when the rest of the group appeared.

“Ginny!” Molly started to rush toward the pair but was stopped by Dumbledore.

“You need to let Remus and Tonks check them over, Molly.”

Snape was pulling a box from inside his robes, enlarging it. “I have a number of vials here, including Blood Replenishing potions.” Remus started waving his wand over Harry while Tonks did Ginny.

“Fenrir did a number on Harry. Some of the wounds have ripped straight to the bone. His werewolf healing abilities have started kicking in but he’ll need some heavy medical attention.” Remus said, cleaning out the wounds.

“Lupin.” Snape handed him a vial. Remus, with help from Sirius, tipped the vial down Harry’s throat.

“Why are they still unconsciousness?”

“The first transformation always takes a lot more out then the rest.” Remus answered, remembering his own.

“How’s Ginny?”

Tonks gave Arthur a look that told him everything. “She’s had sexual intercourse at least once in the past twenty four hours. There are still some tears where she probably gained the infection from since Harry was heavily bleeding at the time. Other than that, she’s physically fine.”

Dumbledore grabbed a few rocks from the ground, tapping each of them once, the objects glowing bright blue for a second before fading. He handed each of them one. Once everything was settled, the Headmaster activated them, all of them pulled back to Hogwarts.
