We were pretty victorious. Sure, Beckett's still alive, but his right-hand man probably isn't. In fact, the mental scream means he's probably dying. I went to bed that morning feeling complacent.
Brendon POV
I stared at the sun, which was quickly coming up. I didn't have much time left before I burned up.
I was already feeling like I had died, so I had to blink a couple of times before realizing that yes, Beckett had come to save me and yes, he was barely on time.
Beckett undid the straightjacket and went with me inside. If he had been even five minutes later, we both would've died.
Patrick POV
The Dandies have gotten Dirty, but we left Brendon tied up. Unknown whether Brendon is dead.
I paused, thinking.
Very nearly lost Pete.
