Aeryn walked silently down the dully lit street, the autumn leaves crunching beneath her feet. Sometimes life became too much to bear, and going for walks was one of the several things she did to give herself relief. That house was so overwhelming most of the time. Her aunt and uncle loved her, this was fact, but every day she wished that her mother was still alive, and that her father wasn’t in prison for selling drugs.
The black screen door became clearer as she walked down the sandy road to her house. After reaching the porch, Aeryn stopped and stared at the magnificent lake that her house was built on. It was a beautiful scene, but it gave her little comfort. She sighed, tucked her hair behind her ears, and walked up the steps into the place she wanted desperately to escape from.
