Chapter Fourteen
“Gee, you’re gonna have to take care of Sammi and Everett by yourself today.” Meredith sighed, picking up her bag.
Gerard looked up from the comic book he was writing. “Hm?”
“Me and Leesh are doing the stuff for the, you know, wedding.” She said, a hand to her large stomach. They had decided that after the babies were born (and after Meredith had decided she lost all the baby weight) that they were finally get married.
“Oh, yeah sure, babe.” He said. “They still sleeping?” He asked, noticing that it wasn’t even eight yet.
She nodded. “Yeah. They’re so cute when they’re sleeping.” She smiled.
“Cause they’re quiet and not running around like rabbits.” He laughed, closing his notebook. “I love them to death, but sheesh do they wear me out. What should I do with them today?” He asked, standing up and wrapping his arms around her.
They stood with each other, leaning into one another and enjoying their alone time. “I don’t know. Why don’t you and the guys take them out for pizza or something?” Meredith smiled and looked up at him with a slight grin. “You could go to a place where the kids and you guys would have fun … like Chuck E. Cheese.”
Gerard rolled his eyes and laughed. “Thanks, Mare.”
“I was talking about Frankie.” She smiled. “Just have fun today. Tomorrow’s their last day, so I wanna do something special with them, you know?”
He nodded. “Yeah, alright.” He looked down and put his hand on her stomach. “You two be good for Mommy and Auntie Leesh today.” He smiled, bending down to kiss her cotton covered stomach.
She laughed. “It’s when they’re around you when they’re bad.” She smirked, putting her hand over his. They both felt a kick. “You provoke them, sweetie.”
“Guess I’m just a bad, bad man.” He said, quoting House of Wolves.
Mare smiled and stood on her tiptoes to kiss him lightly on the lips. “Guess so.”

“Where we goin’ Unka Gee?” Sammi chirped from the backseat as he strapped Everett into his car seat.
“A surprise.” He smiled, checking both of their car seats to make sure they were both secure. “But first we’re picking up the guys.”
Everett looked over at his sister. “What kind of surprise?” He asked, the more quiet of the two.
“You’ll see.” He smiled, shutting the door and getting in the front seat.
They drove to Mikey and Alicia’s, where the guys had all gathered at. He pulled into the driveway and blasted two quick honks and tapped his foot patiently.
The guys piled into the seats. “Where’s Bob?” Gerard asked as he started the engine.
Mikey, who was sitting in the passenger seat, buckled himself in and waved to Sammi and Everett. “On a date with Amelia. They’ve been inseparable ever since she moved into his building. I’m pretty sure she lives at his apartment.” He laughed.
Frank made a goo-goo face. “It’s cute though, because Bobert hasn’t had a serious relationship in forever!” He said in a high falsetto voice. “At least, that’s what Jamia says. She just thinks they’re such an adorable couple.” He laughed.
Ray, who sat in the very back row of seats was preoccupied looking out the window.
“What’s new with you, Ray?” Gerard asked, glancing in the rearview mirror at his oldest friend.
Ray shrugged, his face neutral. “Good I guess.”
Mikey snorted. “No it’s not. Tell the truth, Ray.”
“I don’t know. Christa and I had a fight.” He sighed.
Frankie checked Sammi and Everett, who were both sleeping on the way to their surprise. “Go on, sir.” He said, crossing his legs and turning around in his seat to look at Ray and sliding on fake horn rimmed glasses.
Ray ran a hand through his afro. “Well, she mentioned Gerard and Meredith. You know, how you guys are pregnant and starting your own family.” His lips formed a straight line. “So, she started asking when we were going to have a kid. When we were going to have a family. How much longer she was going to have to wait.”
“Oh man, sorry bro.” Mikey said, though he was wearing a smug smile.
Ray narrowed his eyes. “What, Alicia doesn’t do that to you?” He snapped.
He shook his head. “We’re trying to have a kid, man. We were talking and then I said something about wanting a kid and well … we’re waiting.” He winked at his band mates.
“Shit, seriously?” Ray asked, shocked. “Just like that?”
Mikey nodded. “Yeah, why not? We’ve been married for over three years, we’re not getting any younger. You know, she’s my wife. She wants a kid, I want a kid.” He said simply.
“Trust me, I want my own family too. But we’re gonna be going on tour soon. I don’t want to leave Christa here by herself, pregnant. Alone.” Ray said pointedly. “You’re okay with that?”
“Hey, I won’t be more than a few hours away depending on what state we’re in. If Leesh is pregnant and needs anything, I’ll hop on a plane and fly on over.” Mikey explained.
Ray contemplated that fact. “You’re right.”

“Bob? You okay, babe?”
Bob laid in his bed and stared at the ceiling. “Amelia? How’d you get in?” He asked, checking the alarm clock on the side of his bed. It was way past one, and he had been laying in bed for hours.
Amelia peaked into his bedroom. “You left your keys at my place last night. I don’t know how you got in here last night.” She laughed softly. “You okay?” She repeated.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I guess uh … I lost track of time.” He said, sitting up and throwing on a pair of sweats on his nightstand. “What are you all dressed for?” He asked, noting the black chord pants, the olive green button down, and her shiny flats.
She smiled and walked over to him, kissing his forehead. “I was coming over to see if you wanted to go get lunch or something.
Bob did feel pretty hungry. But he just wasn’t in the mood to go out. His shades were drawn and he had such a terrible headache. He hadn’t been drinking the night before, he and Amelia had spent the night watching a few comedies and then he had called it a night.
So why did he have such a massive hangover?
“Bob, I found vodka bottles in the kitchen. Empty, vodka bottles.”
Oh right, that was why.
