Part Forty

Alright, so. Finally. The finale. The final chapter.
Pfft. Is anyone even reading this anymore? Lol, Sorry it's SOOOOO long, I know. XD I had alot of thoughts to convey in one story.
This chapter, from the ending of the last one, will go quite a few years ahead in the future, so keep that in mind. heavy sigh I'll be sad to see this go to be honest, but I might bring this back after I write some other stuff. A sequel of sorts. I dunno. So, as of right now, please enjoy: THE END.

FAST FORWARD 12 YEARS...

Keliah's POV

As these 12 years have gone by, I've had two more children. Now there are Maxwell, Lily, Janelle and Patricia. That took ages to work out those names. As of right now, Max and Lily are 18, Janelle is 12 and Patricia is 10. So, of course, Max and Lily have already graduated high school, and I think both of them are planning on moving out soon. Or at least, Patrick is hoping so. Honestly, having 6 people in the house isn't exactly crowded because of how huge it is, but even so. There are only 3 bathrooms, and 4 girls in the house. It isn't pretty in the mornings sometimes. I feel kinda bad for Patrick and Max sometimes, but they both just sit back and wait. They aren't about to get involved. Usually I get to be the one left out of the bathroom, so I just sit with them and wait.
Patrick and I have now been married for exactly...oh god...forever it seems. It's probably actually about 21 years I think. It's almost gotten to the point where the year doesn't even matter. We do stuff for each other all the time anyways, it's not like we need an anniversary to remind us to love each other.
Pete and Ashlee are finally married, and Ashlee's had her baby, little Bronx, who is probably about Patricia's age now. Odd name, but the kid is so goddamn cute it's hard to make fun of it. Farrah and Andy got engaged about a year ago, and Joe and Mary are engaged as well. I'm not quite sure why it's taken Andy and Farrah so long to realize they should be married, but I guess...they've been living together for at least 4 years now, so maybe they just now decided to make it official. I don't know. I'm just glad they're together and happy. I'm glad EVERYONE is together and happy. Quite a change from the past 20 or so years; the drama, the romance, all that jazz.
Speaking of jazz....and music...nice segway, right? Anyways, Patrick finally put out his album a few years ago. People have been going mad over it. It really is a fantastic album, and I really like it, but I'm a bit biased. I think it's brilliant. Even the rest of the band is jealous of that album. He really outdid himself, and when he does it always turns out fantastic.
Janelle and Patricia have been helping Max and Lily with packing their stuff. Everything has been fairly calm around here since Max and Lily have been preparing to move out. Both of them have a boyfriend/girlfriend, and we've met Max's girlfriend, Sarah, and she's a sweet girl. However, we haven't met Lily's boyfriend. I'm worried about the way Patrick's going to behave. He was okay with Sarah, but that's because it's Sarah's dad's job to harass Max. Patrick knows Sarah's dad anyways; he'll know if Max did something stupid. But, Patrick finally gets his turn when he meets Lily's boyfriend. We don't even know his name yet either.
I can only hope it's going to turn out well.
---------------------
I woke up this morning with a familiar feeling. A warm body pressed to mine, and an arm wrapped around my waist tightly. I closed my eyes and snuggled closer to the warmth behind me, pulling his arm close to my chest. I rolled over onto my back, gliding my hand over the green bra covering my chest. His arm slid to my waist again, resting there comfortably. I could tell he was still fast asleep from the look on his face. I looked over at the clock and the bright green numbers flashed 10:00. We needed to get up soon or we were going to miss Lily's boyfriend coming over.
I gently ran my hand down his side to his hips and his eyes flickered open.
"Hey..." he said softly, bringing his hand to my cheek.
"Hi" I whispered back, looking into his eyes. They still have that same glimmer in them that I've admired time and time again. His green eyes opened a bit wider and he smiled weakly at me.
"You look beautiful." he whispered. I giggled as his hand moved slowly over my chest, his face lighting up in admiration.
"We've got to get up, Trick. Lily's boyfriend is gonna be here in about an hour and we can't let Lily get out the door without us meeting this guy."
He finally got up and alert. "She is not getting out of this house without me meeting him."
I rolled my eyes and smiled. "That's what I thought. So we gotta go."
We both quickly got up, showered, and got dressed. We walked down the hall to the living room to see Lily up and awake, shoving things into more boxes, and Janelle, Max, and Patricia all at the kitchen table. Max was looking after them and he waved at us as we appeared in the living room. Lily looked all made up for her boyfriend to come over. Her long, red hair fell over her shoulders and her green eyes sparkled with happiness as she turned to look at us.
"Good morning." she said with a smile.
Patrick was still partially asleep and walked over to kiss her on the cheek. "Good morning, darling." He sleepily walked off to the kitchen to get coffee and I was left alone with Lily.
"Sooooo..." I said awkwardly, helping her toss some of her stuff into boxes. "When is your boyfriend going to be over?"
"Soon. He said he'd be here in about 15 minutes or so."
Patrick came back with a steaming mug of hot coffee and he looked more awake than he did before.
"Anything we should know about him BEFORE we meet him?" he said warningly.
"His name is Dylan. He's a little bit taller than me. And he can sing." Figures, I thought. Just like me. Patrick's always been right about her. She may look like him, but she thinks like me.
"No criminal record, right?"
"No, dad, he doesn't have a criminal record. Be nice to him, please?" she said, working her magic with her eyes as she always does. It used to be Max's eyes that got him everytime, but Lily's eyes have become his Kryptonite. Patrick sighed and nodded. "Alright. I'll be nice." Lily laughed and kissed him on the cheek.
"Thank you, daddy."
Patrick forced a smile and we heard a knock on the door.

Patrick's POV

I walked over to Kel, coffee still firmly in my hand and whispered, "If this boy tries anything, then I cannot be responsible for my own actions."
She just smiled and shook her head, her attention turning to the boy standing in the doorway. He was taller than me. Of course. He was tall, had dark brown hair and bright blue eyes. He seemed to be rather offish. He reminded me a lot of....me. When I was in high school.
That still didn't give him clearance yet. I knew how I was like in high school, and if he was anything like that, I DEFINITELY would not want her hanging around him. I only have her best intentions in mind, I swear.
"Mom, Dad, this is Dylan. Dylan, these are my parents."
He nervously waved. "Hi, uh, Mr. And Mrs. Stump. I'm a huge fan of your band, by the way." he said, turning to me. That already sent up red flags in my mind about him.
"Thanks." I said rather coldly. Lily shot me a look and I relaxed a little, trying to be open-minded about this. "So, Dylan, let's talk."
Kel hit me on the arm lightly, sending the same message Lily was. I looked at her and whispered. "Look, I'm not going to lure him off into my cave and beat him with a stick. I just wanna ask him some questions. The whole stick thing won't be until I find out something bad about him."
Kel tried to bite back a giggle and stay serious but she smiled and turned back to Dylan. "Yeah, let's go talk."
Dylan nervously nodded and Lily took hold of his hand as we all sat down in the living room. I started quickly. "Alright, 10 questions, speed-style. I ask, you answer, no discussion. Got it?"
Dylan nodded and I seen him clutch Lily's hand tighter. "Look, there's no need to be all nervous. It's not like I'm gonna ask you anything embarrassing."
He nodded again and I started.
"What do you want to do with your life?"
"Be either an artist or a musician."
"And why?"
"It's a good way to support myself."
"Only if you actually make it, kid. What are your intentions with my daughter?"
"I-uh, I like your daughter alot, I don't really have intenti-"
"You don't have intentions of being caring and well-behaved at all times towards Lily?"
"No! I didn't mean that, I definitely do. I don't have any BAD intentions, uh, sir."
"Good. How old are you?"
"19."
"What do your parents do?"
"They both run a store downtown Chicago."
"Do you have a job?"
"I work at their store, yes."
"Do you drive?"
"I have a car-"
"Then you won't be borrowing mine?"
"No, sir."
I stopped and took a breath. "Alright, I'm done. You seem nice. But I promise you, if I ever find out that you've hurt my girl, I'll shove my trumpet down your throat and make you breathe through it."
He nervously nodded. Lily shot me another glare as she squeezed his hand. Kel smiled weakly at Dylan. "Don't take his questions personally. We're just looking out for our daughter, that's all. You seem perfectly fine. We're both pleased to meet you, right dear?" she said, clenching her teeth a bit when she turned to me.
"Yes, definitely." I replied, smiling as I took another sip of my coffee. Lily and Dylan both stood up and Dylan picked up one of the boxes. I looked at him with interest.
"You're helping her move her stuff?"
"Yeah. I offered because I have a lot of room in my car."
"Good."
He nodded quickly and turned to Lily. "You ready to go then?"
She smiled at him. "Yep. Let's go." I seen Kel pull her aside, and I heard her whisper, "I'll deal with your father." I rolled my eyes in response, and I seen Kel smirk at me as we all said goodbye and watched Lily and Dylan walk out to his car. I walked into the kitchen and Keliah followed me, sighing.
"Did you have to be so...interrogating?"
"Kel, come on, all I wanted was some straight answers out of the kid."
"He was scared to death of you!"
"He was not scared to death, he was just...nervous, that's all."
Max watched us as we bickered back and forth and glanced at Patricia and Janelle. Kel threw her hands up into the air.
"He was just over here to meet us, and now he probably thinks we hate him!"
"No, he thinks I hate him, and that is as it should be. He should like you, and hate me, because I'm the one he's gonna be answering to if Lily comes home crying about him."
I seen her smirk and look down at the floor. "Alright, alright. Good cop, bad cop. I get it."
I shrugged. "I'm just the bad guy because it's my job. The kid doesn't seem so bad. I just wanna scare the pants off of him." I said, smiling as I took another sip of coffee. Max sighed and turned to Patricia. "So, Tricia, what do you wanna do today?"
"Go to the park!"
Janelle whined. "How come SHE gets to pick?"
"Because you picked yesterday."
"But I'm older!"
Max smiled at them. "And I'm older than you. So, we're going to do what Tricia wants to do."
Janelle turned to me and put on her best pouty face. Her big brown eyes matched Max's and Kel's, but they weren't anywhere near as powerful as Lily's; I could resist her puppy dog eyes. "Daddy, why does Max get to pick?"
"Elle, I think if you picked yesterday, then Patricia has dibs on picking today. It's only fair."
Kel nodded and put an arm around my shoulders. "I agree. Tomorrow you can pick what you guys do tomorrow, okay?" she said, then kneeling down to face her.
Janelle nodded and they all grabbed their stuff and Max drove them to the park. We waved goodbye and I turned around to look around the house; the now completely empty house.
"Wow. It's so...quiet."
Kel giggled and I felt her hand lay on top of mine, intertwining her fingers with mine. "It also means the house is all to ourselves. That doesn't happen very often now does it?"
I then felt her other hand placed on my chest and I closed my eyes. "That NEVER happens it seems." I heard her laugh again and she walked around to face me, planting a kiss on my lips. I smiled and spoke between short kisses.
"Well, a few minutes ago you were fighting with me over our daughter's boyfriend, and now you're kissing me?"
"I like your protective side, what can I say?" she muttered, kissing my neck. Her hands grabbed the collar of my shirt and we kissed all the way to the bedroom.
"Now that everyone's gone-"
"No kids-"
"No distractions-"
"No having to be quiet-"
"Just-"
"Us."
We quickly undressed and I smiled as she pushed me down onto the bed, kissing me passionately. She stopped and took a breath, looking into my eyes. I stared back, gazing into her chocolate brown eyes filled with passion and lust.
"God, I missed this." I said, running a hand down her waist. It'd been far too long.
She smiled and continued on kissing as she slowly lowered herself onto me. She bit her lip as I completely filled up inside her, and she started to slowly move. She pressed her full chest to mine and kissed me again, moving her hips up and down. My hands were placed at her waist, but the more she moved, the more my hands got a mind of their own. They first moved slowly down to her hips, feeling the rhythm of her movements. My hands then creeped over her backside, caressing and squeezing. Her skin was so soft it was impossible to stop touching her. I closed my eyes and started breathing heavily as her hips moved on mine. There was no better feeling than being inside her.
Her face scrunched up. Her moans became louder and louder. The way her face looked, the sound of her moans, and the feel of her warm body on mine definitely riled me up. I could tell she was close from the way my name escaped her lips. Her body pressed harder to mine and I moaned out her name softly, groaning as her hips moved faster and faster. My hands rested firmly on the curve of her waist as her body rocked on mine. My body tensed up as she moved once more and I let go, groaning loudly as my hips thrust forward. She collapsed on me, screaming my name and kissing me fiercely. I could feel her body shake on top of mine, and I threw my head back, her kisses moving downward from my neck to my chest. Her hands moved down my shoulders, touching my skin with unmistakable passion.
When she finally stopped kissing me, I ran my hand across her cheek. I gazed into her eyes.
"Wow..."
She smiled. Her body was still laying on top of mine, the heat between the two of us keeping us warm. "What are you 'Wow'-ing about?" she asked, crossing her arms on my chest.
"You look so....gorgeous."
"You always say that."
"Yeah, but today it's....different..."
I looked at her face closely. Her face hadn't changed much. We both looked a bit older, not by a lot, but I believed she's aged more gracefully than I have. The sunlight from the window glowed on her face, her eyes gleaming. Maybe that was it. Her normally dark brown eyes were enhanced with the light. They looked lighter than normal; not a chocolate brown, more of a caramel brown instead. Ha, I thought, I always tend to think of her eyes as some sort of candy don't I?
"I think it's your eyes...they look beautiful."
"Have you looked at your own eyes lately?" she replied jokingly.
"Nah, why bother when I have yours to look at?"
"Funny, I always thought the same thing."
I laughed. I never seen what she seen in my eyes. They were green. That's about all I saw. I never saw any of this sparkle that she always described; that constant glimmer that appeared when something good happened. I never seen how they looked when I was upset, or sad. She always told me they got to be a very dim green, that they looked as those the brightness got sucked out of them.
But her eyes. God, I seen so much in her eyes. I seen the woman who gave birth to our children. I seen our whole lives reflected back in her eyes.
The hotel in L.A. The first time we kissed. The first time we had sex. The first concert she'd been to. The look on her face when she heard all of us play. The passion in her voice when she sang. The day I proposed. The day we learned we were going to have a baby.
All of that seemed to come back to me when I looked at her face. All those memories. I simply smiled at her.
"I'm so lucky you're my wife."
"I'm lucky to be your wife."
She smiled back at me, and her arms wrapped around me. I rested my hands on her back. I felt my eyes close and we fell asleep in each others arms.
------------------
"MOM! DAD! We're home!!!"
I woke with a start and so did Kel. She whispered softly. "We've got to get dressed, and fast."
We both quickly pulled on our clothes and walked into the living room casually to see Max shutting the door behind him, with Patricia and Janelle front and center.
"And how was the park?" I asked, nervously adjusting my sweater.
"We seen a dog! And we played frisbee with it!" Patricia said excitedly.
Max rolled his eyes. "We didn't play frisbee with it. We tried to play frisbee WITHOUT it and the dog wouldn't stop grabbing it in mid-air."
Kel giggled. "Well, Tricia, Elle, would you like to come help me make some lunch?"
"Sure!" they both replied excitedly.
"Patrick, Max, do you want anything special for lunch?"
"Nah, I'm not that hungry really." Max said with a shrug.
"Me too." I said.
Kel simply shrugged and followed the two girls out to the kitchen, leaving just me and Max in the living room. We both sat down and sat there in silence for a bit.
"Thank you for taking Elle and Tricia out to the park. It was nice and quiet around here with everyone gone for a bit."
Max nodded. "I bet. Did you guys meet Dylan?"
"Yeah."
"Did you scare the crap out of him?"
"Yeah." I grinned. Max grinned too and we high-fived.
"Go dad! I'm glad you did; I really don't like that guy."
"Why not?"
"He was a total tool in high school. I never talked to him much, but in all my classes I had with him, he was never paying attention."
I nodded. Dylan was a lot more like me in high school than I thought.
"Well, I think I did scare him a little. Your mother got a little irked with me about that-"
"Yeah, I heard that little spat out there."
It wasn't unusual for Kel and I to argue a little almost every day. Whether it was actually over something important or nothing more than a petty fight. Sometimes we'd get into arguments where it didn't even matter who won, if there even WAS a winner in the end. Max and Lily were the ones most used to it. They were old enough to understand it wasn't anything serious. We tried to keep the silly fights to a minimum when Janelle and Patricia were around. They didn't quite get it yet.
"Your mother was not happy."
Max laughed. "Well, at least you both have already fixed it, I'm guessing?"
"Yeah, we did. I tried to explain to her that I was just being protective. I only have you kids' best interests at heart, you know that."
Max took a deep breath. "I was hoping you would say that, dad. I wanted to run something by you and ask whether you thought it was a good idea."
"Sure, what's up?"
"Well, you know Sarah right?"
"Yeah..." I got a little nervous at the mention of his girlfriend. God knows what could've happened.
"I think I may love her, dad."
I took a deep breath of relief. That was the least of my worries. Teenagers think they're in love all the time, right?
"That's good, Max."
"No, dad, I'm serious. I.....I think I'm gonna ask her to marry me."
I sat up in my chair. "Now, wait a second."
I knew I had no room to talk here; I proposed to Kel after only a few days of knowing her. But that was a totally different situation. We were older than what he is now, and we had a special connection to one another the moment we met. I've seen Max and Sarah together. There weren't any sparks flying. It was just...a relationship. I continued.
"Are you sure you wanna do that, son? I mean, you two have only known each other for awhile, and you're kinda young-" I knew the minute the words came out of my mouth that there was going to be a retaliation.
"What's all that supposed to mean? You and mom only knew each other for less than a week! You were both 23! I'm 18, Dad! I'll be 23 in a few years; it's not that far away!" Max cried out, standing up from his chair.
I stood up as well and held my hands up. "Look, I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, I'm just saying not to do it quite so soon-"
"What if she doesn't love me in a few years time?"
"Then she isn't the one for you."
"How could you say that, Dad? I love her!"
Max stormed out the front door into his car and drove off. Kel quickly walked into the living room and caught a glimpse of Max's car driving off.
"What was that all about?"
"I....really don't know. He told me that he thinks he loves Sarah, and then he said he was thinking about asking her to marry him. I told him maybe he should wait a bit, and he got all PMS on me and stormed off."
Kel sighed and put a hand to her forehead. "Well...I guess. We can't do anything to control his life anymore. He's 18, Trick. We've got to let him make his own stupid decisions."
"I suppose. I just don't want him rushing into anything and then getting crushed in the process. Damnit, what is wrong with these kids? Can't they just stay cute, adorable, and innocent like they were when they were 5?"
"They grew up, sweetie."
------------------
Later in the day, everyone came back home. Max was still upset with me a bit, but he was talking at least. I kinda expected it. Teenagers.
I heard a knock on the door and Kel peered out the window of the living room.
"It's everybody!"
Lily laughed. "That's so specific, Mom."
"No, I'm serious, everybody!"
I got up to answer the door and sure enough, Pete, Ashlee, Bronx, Farrah, Andy, Joe, and Mary all stood at the door with smiled on their faces.
"Hey, everyone! Come on in." Kel said happily, hugging everyone as they came in.
Pete stopped for a second as he seen Lily, Patricia, Max, and Janelle on the floor giggling. "Wow, you all have gotten big."
Max laughed. "It happens." They high-fived each other and Lily, Patricia and Janelle got up to hug him.
"We haven't seen you in ages!" Lily said.
"Well, being in the studio a lot doesn't give me a lot of time on my hands or else I'd be over here way more often than what I am now, you guys know that."
I quickly turned to Pete, my facial expression probably looked like a kid at christmastime.
"Studio?"
"Oh yeah."
"Does that mean-"
"New lyrics."
"And new music?"
Pete nodded and I hugged him. "Dude, Fall Out Boy is BACK IN BUSINESS!"
Joe and Andy clapped, and walked over to kids as well, hugging them each. Joe talked to Max for a bit.
"So, how's the whole, piano thing working for you?"
"I haven't played in a while to be honest. I've been trying to learn the guitar for a bit, but it's not liking me at the moment."
"Eh, give it time. I'll help you if you'd like. Give you some, hardcore one-on-one lessons from the fabulous Trohman." he said dramatically. Mary came up beside him and punched him lightly on the arm. "Careful, you're going to hurt someone with that ego."
Joe smiled and him and Mary sat down. Andy talked to Lily for awhile.
"How's the drumming going?"
"I'm still pretty good at it. I can't seem to get any bands to take me seriously, let alone my own band director because they don't think a girl should be playing drums."
"They don't know they're talking about. Give me their numbers. I'll tell them otherwise, I swear."
Farrah came in to intervene. "Come on now, the band director has enough problems with his head without you going there to hit him with your drumsticks."
They followed Joe and Mary and went to sit down. Ashlee came in with Bronx by her side. Patricia stood up happily. "B!"
Patricia had an odd habit of calling him 'B'. I'm not sure if it was because she couldn't say Bronx very well or what, but she's always called him B.
"Pattie!" he said.
They sat down next to each other and started to play rock, paper, scissors on the floor. Ashlee giggled as she watched them. "Well, they still remember each other, I guess! It's nice to see Bronx communicating with someone his own age; he can't seem to get along with any of his classmates at school."
I shrugged and smirked a little. "He's got his father's genetics in that case."
Ashlee laughed and went to go sit by Pete. We all were sat around, Max and Lily actually talking together for once, and Janelle was sitting closely next to us, enjoying the attention. Everyone was finally in their secure spots it seemed. For once, nothing was wrong. No one was mad at anyone else, no rifts between people. Even with all the shit we've put each other through, our friends and spouses included, we've all made it through without a scratch. I always felt more at home when everyone was around. This was my extended family. They knew me better than my own parents. I turned and smiled at Kel who was smiling so wide, it looked like her face was going to burst.
"Looks like everything is back to normal."
"Looks like it, doesn't it?" she replied happily. I looked in her gorgeous dark eyes and pressed my lips to hers. We both then pulled back and she bit her lip, smiling.
I turned and looked back at everyone else. I was right.
Everything was back to way it should be.
