Part Thirty-Nine

It had already been three days since Patrick left.
I felt like I was having...Patrick-withdrawals. I don't know how it's possible to have withdrawals from not having a person, but I sure as hell am feeling something close to it. Sure, he called every night, but it wasn't the same as having him there.
Some of the phone calls were hilarious. Last night, we were talking after the twins had gone to bed and he was walking back to the bus at the time. We were in the middle of the conversation when all of a sudden I heard a mob of girls start screaming, "I LOVE YOU PATRICK!" on the sidelines. I knew I heard Pete laughing but Patrick was not amused. He didn't sound too happy about them interrupting our conversation. Nonetheless, I couldn't care less what we were talking about as long as I heard his voice on the other end.
Max and Lily were content with the phone calls every night, but I needed something more. I missed just having him next to me when I went to bed at night. The bed seemed so...empty. I missed seeing his bed-head hair in the morning and gleam of sunshine in his green eyes when he woke up.
The kids had just gotten home from school. They finally agreed to taking the bus home. Normally either Patrick or myself would pick them up, but they finally agreed to the bus. I was feeling queasy in the first place because of the baby, so I didn't really wanna pick them up, but it wasn't too bad. It all worked out in the end. I knew from the way my stomach looked that I was already at least 3 months pregnant. I just now figured it out though. I must've been late reacting to it this time or something. Max and Lily knew about it, and they understood that they were going to have a younger sibling in the house in a few months, but they didn't care about how the baby got there, so I was safe. I REALLY didn't wanna have that conversation without Patrick around. My cellphone rang in my pocket, blaring Prince's 'Wanna Be Your Lover' and I looked at the time. It was only 3:00. He was early.
"Hello?" I said, knowing who's voice was going to come over the other line.
"Hello, sugar." Patrick's voice came through my cellphone speaker clearly. There was no mistaking that man's voice.
I smiled to myself. "You called early. What's up?"
"Well, I figured the kids just got home so you can tell them the exciting news now."
"What exciting news?"
"Remember I said you were welcome to come to any of our shows? Well, I got Rob to get me 3 tickets to tonight's show in Chicago, so it's nearby."
"PATRICK!" I screamed happily.
"I thought you would like it. It's front row too, so I can see your pretty face from the stage."
"My pretty face? Psh, I get to see my husband that I've been DYING to see for days now."
"You guys can probably come backstage after the show if you'd like. Rob can come find you when it's over so you won't have to worry about crazy people or anything."
I sighed and smiled. "God, Patrick, I love you."
"I love you too. So you'll be at the show tonight?"
"Definitely. Me and the twins will be there, I promise."
"You can show up early to the venue too if you'd like, and just hang out with us until the show starts."
"I'm sure the twins will love that."
"Good. I miss you."
"I miss you too."
"I'll see you soon then."
"I'm already excited!" I smiled again, and I heard him laugh on the other end. "I've got to go. Rehearsals. Rob's gonna kill me if I'm late again."
"You were late before?"
"Pete's fault. Really long story. It involved duct tape again."
"Oh, god. You're alright though, right?"
"Yeah, I got out of it ok. No harm done."
"Good. Then go ahead and rehearse. I'll see you later."
"Bye."
"Bye. I love you."
"Love you too."
I heard a click, and he was gone. I found the twins in each of their rooms, and got them to sit down in the living room. "Hey, how would you like to see daddy?"
"DADDY!" they both exclaimed. Max spoke up. "When do we get to see daddy?"
"You'll get to see him perform tonight. And we'll see him after the show is done."
"YAY!" they yelled again.
"I thought you might like to see him. So, go ahead and get dressed, get ready, do whatever you've got to, and be out here in the living room in 10 minutes, ok?"
They smiled in excitement and bounced up and down, running all the way to their rooms. I walked into the bedroom and sighed as I stared at the empty bed. I grabbed my clothes and laid down on the bed. The smell of him still lingered on the bed. I wished he was right there with me.
"I wish you would just come home..." I whispered to myself.
----------------------
We pulled into the venue and Max and Lily would not stop asking if we were there yet. When I finally said that we were, they had a fit and were giggling and getting impatient at the same time. I got them both out of the car, took them each by the hand and walked through the gravel drive up to the stage where all the seating was. I already seen a line forming, but Patrick was waiting at the front, watching and waiting for us. Girls were screaming his name left and right but his eyes were fixated on us. He nudged the security guy, telling us that we were free to come in, and we bypassed everyone in line. The minute we got past that line, and away from that crowd, I pulled his face close, crashing my lips onto his. I pulled away quickly and bit my lip, our foreheads pressed together.
"I missed you so so much."
"Oh god, I missed you too." he said, his hands sliding below my hips, gently grabbing my ass. I smiled and he soon pulled away from me to turn his attention to Max and Lily. "DADDY DADDY DADDY!" they yelled, running towards him. He hugged and kissed them both and he smiled wide. "Oh, I've missed you two SO much. How's school been?" he took them both by the hand and I followed as Max and Lily started talking a mile a minute about their adventures at school. He led us into the wait room behind the stage and Ashlee, Mary, and Farrah were back there as well. The minute I seen them, I waved. They soon crowded around me and said hi.
"I didn't know you all were gonna be here!" I said happily.
"Well, we didn't really know either until our boyfriends all called us." Mary said.
"Do we all have front row seats next to each other?"
Ashlee shoved her hand in the pocket of her jeans and pulled out all of our tickets. "Yep. Looks like it. Max and Lily can sit on either side of you, and one of us can sit at the end and watch one of them to make things easier. We all know how crazy these crowds get. Especially when it comes to our men." she giggled.
I nodded in agreement and glanced over at Patrick who had Lily in his arms and Max was laughing at the guys who were making faces at him. Patrick's eyes met mine and he smiled at me. I smiled back at him, biting the corner of my lip, wishing those lips were on mine again. I quickly shook off the thought and turned back to the rest of the girls. Farrah smirked at me. "You miss him just as much as we missed our guys."
"Oh, more than you'll ever know." I said, glancing back longingly.
Ashlee shook her head. "Yeah, well, Pete's refused to have sex with me since he learned about me being pregnant. He's afraid he's gonna hurt it or something."
I laughed. Mary giggled. "I've...never had sex with Joe...or anyone else for that matter, so I guess I just missed his kisses."
I smiled at her and patted her on the shoulder. "It's perfectly fine if you haven't had sex, trust me. And I'm sure Joe doesn't care either. Hell, when I slept with Patrick the first time, he didn't even know I was a virgin. It wasn't until after the fact that he'd figured it out."
Farrah smirked. "I've slept with Andy. But, you know...I've slept with other guys before."
Ashlee laughed. "Yeah, you've made your way around the band haven't you?"
I nervously laughed. Ashlee and Mary seen the look on my face. "Don't worry about us knowing about Farrah going out with just about everyone. We're cool. There won't be any cat fights over it, we swear." Ashlee said reassuringly.
Farrah nodded. "I feel a bit whorish about it all, but I love Andy. I don't need anyone else anymore."
"And I love Pete." Ashlee said, flashing her ring.
"And I love Joe." Mary said with a grin.
I glanced over at Patrick. "And I love my Trick." I smiled at him again.
I couldn't wait to watch the show.
--------------------
"Be amazing, sweetheart."
"I'll do my best." Patrick was about to go onstage. He kissed me one last time, and hurried off onto the stage. I ran to my seat where everyone else was, seated right in between Max and Lily. They were so excited about all the lights and the show that was going on. Lily screamed as the boys were shot out of the stage as they normally do. She did the same thing I did when I seen them do that. Max got all excited when he seen Patrick walk up to the mic with his Stump-o-Matic guitar, and pointed frantically at him, a shocked look on his face. "That's daddy!" I giggled and nodded. Mary sat on the other side of Max and Farrah sat on the other side of Lily, and they both grabbed them, placing them on their shoulders so they could see better. I was free to watch the show. I watched Patrick as his now slender body did the same motions as he always did before. I could tell he loved being up there. As much as I know he missed us, he loved doing this. He clapped his hands over his head, the entire crowd following along to his motions. Pete was being the showboat he always tries to be, and Joe was being a maniac on his guitar as always. The chords blared through the speakers on the stage and I was drawn in as I usually am. I closed my eyes as Patrick's voice came flooding through the air. God, did I miss that voice. I missed that voice singing the twins to sleep every night. Whispering in my ear when I woke up. Saying my name in bed. I missed everything about him. But I was here, and he was here now, so I could relax and enjoy being just as turned on by Trick as every girl in the audience was. I liked feeling like I was just another groupie every now and then. I had so much more in common with their fans than they even knew.
After their opening song was finished, Pete spoke into the microphone. "WHAT'S UP CHICAGO?"
Loud screams followed, as always. I heard Lily and Max scream loudly along with Ashlee too.
"So, as you all may know..." he continued on. "Our lead singer is married as of now. And has kids. And one more one the way." The crowd screamed again.
"HA, that's right you didn't know that yet. Oh well. Now you do. Anyways, so now, I'm sorry to say ladies, I am taken as well."
The crowd "Awwwwwwww"ed at his remark, but they soon went back to their normal obnoxious selves when Pete introduced the next song.
"This is a love song...written from the perspective of the hips."
I smiled, knowing that meant 'Headfirst Slide' was the next song. I cheered with the crowd and sang along, like a good groupie. I knew I missed going to these shows.
----------------------
Max and Lily were freaking out backstage while we waited in the room we were in before for the guys to come back from performing. We left just before the end of it, so they were probably going to be here soon.
"Did you see him, mommy? He was like, 'DAH, DAH, DAH DA DUN, DAH...' and then he was like, 'BWAH BWAH BWAH' and then he was like-" Max was going on and on about the concert and Lily was doing the same thing almost. She was happily discussing the show with Max when the four guys walked into the room, sweaty and exhausted.
I ran into Patrick's arms and kissed him. He pulled away and smiled.
"Seems like this has happened before, has it not?"
"Never too many times." I replied and kissed him again. Our tongues battled in each other's mouths until we were interrupted by Max and Lily. "DADDY, DADDY, DADDY, YOU WERE AMAZING!"
I smiled down at them, my arms still wrapped around his neck. "And see? Your biggest fans loved it."
It was about time that they realized just how special their father was. Hopefully when they're older, they'll remember that...especially when they get rebellious.
"So, you liked the show?" he said, kneeling down to face them. Lily wrapped her arms around him and said, "I love you, daddy."
Max did the same and hugged him. "I love you too, dad."
I seen a smile wipe across his face as he hugged them back tightly.
I knew this would probably be the only time they would see their dad perform. He loved performing, but this tour was almost over. It could be the last. I wasn't sure; Patrick was quite unpredictable at times, but I had an eerie feeling that this wouldn't happen again for quite a few years....
