Frank's POV

I must have fallen asleep as I mourned the loss of my child because when I woke my head was still resting on Melody's stomach and my arm was wrapped protectively around her midsection. Though I couldn't have been asleep for long because her hospital gown was still damp from my tears. I froze when I felt fingers stroke through my hair. I turned my head to see Melody smiling at me. I sniffled and she frowned.

"What's wrong, Frank?"

"T-The b-baby." I croaked.

"It's okay. The baby is fine. I talked to a nurse just a little while ago."

I looked at her in confusion. How could she not be upset right now? We had lost one of our babies.

"But we...."

"I was scared too. I thought we lost our baby but we didn't. It's going to be okay."

She smiled and that's when it clicked. She didn't know about the other baby. No one had told her yet. And that's when I mad possibly one of the stupidest decisions of my life. I chose not to tell her. I just couldn't bring myself to crush her like that. I decided I would have to suffer our loss alone.

"Yeah. Our baby is fine." I faked a smile but she seemed to believe it. "How are you feeling?"

"My head hurts a little but I'm okay."

"I'm glad you are okay and I am sorry this happened to you."

"I'll be fine. Where is everyone?"

"In the waiting room. Would you like to see them?"

"Yeah."

"Okay. I'll get them."

I swept her tangled mass of hair away from her eyes, patted her stomach one last time, and smiled.

"I really am happy you and our baby are okay."

"Me too."

I sighed as I left the room and slowly made my way to the waiting area. The anger boiled up within me as my eyes found Gerard and Mikey. Gerard was slouched in a chair with his eyes drooping lazily while Mikey was pacing around nervously, chewing his nails and tugging at his hair. Benji and Zac were sprawled across a couple of chairs sleeping. I cleared my throat, startling Mikey.

"Frank! Is she okay?!"

"She's fine."

"Can I see her now? Please?"

"Yes. She wants to see everyone."

"Thank you! Thank you!"

"Don't thank me, thank her. If it was up to me you nor Gerard would ever see her again."

"Frank, I...." Mikey started but I held up a hand to silence him.

"Before anyone goes in to see her there is one thing you must agree to or you can not go in."

"Anything! Just please!." Mikey pleaded.

"She doesn't know we lost a baby and I don't want her to so no one tells her."

"But Frank...."

"No! I mean it, Mikey. She must never know."

"Okay." Mikey sighed in defeat.

"Gerard?"

"If that's what you want, Frank."

"Benji? Zac?" They only nodded sadly.

"Okay. Follow me then."

I showed them to the room and watched as Mikey, Benji, and Zac ran to Melody's bedside and began fussing over her. I held Gerard back at the door.

"Frank, I'm sorry. I know nothing I can ever say can make what happened okay but Frank, I never meant for this to happen."

"Fuck you, Gerard! Because of you my baby is dead! It makes me sick to even look at your face right now!"

"Frankie, it was an accident. I'm sorry!"

"Accident or not this is your fault! You disgust me! It's not up to me but I hope Melody never forgives you! I'm not sure if I will ever be able to forgive you!" I spat.

Gerard only hung his head in shame. I sighed heavily, doing my best not to smash his face in right here.

"Just go in there and see her but do not utter one single word about the other baby." I ground out between clenched teeth.

Gerard only nodded as we entered the room and stood by Melody's bed.

"You okay Mel?"

"Yeah Frank, I'm fine."

"Uh.....hey Melody." Gerard murmured.

"Gerard." She spat.

"I-I'm sorry, Melody."

"Honestly Gerard, it's going to take a hell of a lot of time to forgive you and it's not going to be easy. You could have killed my baby because of a pointless fight."

"I know and I'm sorry. Really, I am."

"That goes for you too, Mikey. This is just as much your fault as it is his."

"I know Mel but I will do anything to make this up to you."

"I'm not sure that will be enough but we'll see. Anyways, thanks for sticking around to see me but I am tired so I think I'll get some sleep. You guys should go home. I'll be fine here."

"Are you sure?" Benji questioned.

"Yeah Benji. I'll be fine."

"Okay. I love you, Mel."

"I love you too, Benji."

"I'll show you guys out." I mumbled.

After they all said their goodbyes to Melody I walked them to the parking lot. Once we stepped out into the cool night air I retrieved my pack of cigarettes from my pocket, positioned the white stick between my lips, and lit it. I inhaled deeply, letting the smoke fill my lungs and relax me somewhat.

"Do you really think it's a good idea to keep the truth from Mel?"

"Probably not Zac but she's been through enough lately and I don't want to add to her stress. She needs to keep healthy or she might lose this baby too. I don't think I would have any sanity left if that happened."

"If you think that's what is best for her then I'll go along with it but if she finds out we lied she may never forgive us."

"That's a chance I'm willing to take."

"Okay. Call me if anything else happens. Goodnight Frank."

"Goodnight Zac."

Once I finished my cigarette I wandered back inside and went back to Melody's room. I found an extra blanket in the cabinet beside Melody's bed. I rubbed her stomach once more for my own sanity, kissed her forehead, and slumped into the chair. It wasn't the most comfortable place to sleep but it would have to do because there was no way I was leaving her side. Just as my eyelids closed and sleep began to overtake me Melody's voice rang in my ears.

"Frank?"

My eyes shot open and I was at her side in an instant.

"What is it? Is something wrong?"

She laughed softly. "No. I was just going to offer you half of my bed. It can't be comfortable in that chair."

"Oh, uh.....no, it's okay. You need to rest and I'll just be in the way."

"Come on, there's plenty of room." She smiled as she moved over and patted the spot beside her.

"Are you sure?" She only nodded.

I lay down beside her and she covered us with the blanket. She snuggled into my side and lay her head against my chest. I wrapped an arm around her to make it more comfortable.

"Is this okay? Are you comfortable." I questioned.

"Yeah. This is perfect. Thank you for staying with me."

"Of course. I couldn't leave you alone."

"Goodnight Frankie."

"G'Night Mel."

I am sooooo sorry I didn't update last night. It was because my laptop crashed and I spent all night trying to repair it but it's fixed now so that shouldn't happen again.
