A few days later we were able to leave the hospital and go home. The day we were released from hospital other teenagers were released from school for half term. This meant that I had a week to sort myself out before I started school here. This time when I start things will be different.
-----
The week flew by and I'm not surprised seen as though my mum kept me busy helping her unpack and decorate. This is why the night before I start school I find myself running over the plan me and Mikey came up with; to make sure there's no mistakes this time.
"Belle?" My mum sticks her head around the door. "Are you still awake?"
"Yeah," I sit up in bed and switch my lamp on blinking repeatedly at the brightness.
"Good." She walked in and sat on my bed while handing me a hot chocolate.
"Why? What's up?" I ask before blowing on my hot chocolate trying to cool it down a little so I can drink it.
"The school got in touch over the holidays to let me know that if you still don't feel 100% recovered that you don't have to go in tomorrow if you don't want to or if you're scared. They also said you can do half days for four days and a one full day each week if you feel more comfortable doing that." She informed me, I could tell she was still worried about me as well. I know any other kid would jump at an opportunity like this but I just want to get back to normality. Quickly.
"Mum, how many times do I have to tell you I'm perfectly okay now?" I replied hoping she'll drop the subject.
"Just until your check up next week when the doctors say it." She answered me. At least she was honest. We sat there in silence after that for a while.
"Mum," she looked at me. "Can I go to sleep now? I do have school in the morning." I reminded her.
"Of course, goodnight Belle." She kissed my head and left me to sleep.
-----
The next morning I got ready how I had planned: skinny jeans, battered converse, customised Misfits top, multi-coloured bands on both arms, heavy smoky eyeliner and curly hair in bunches with my fringe straightened and tucked behine my ear. I walked downstairs and into the kitchen to grab a bottle of Coke.
"Ready then?" My mum asked eyeing me up and down from her seat at the table.
"Yep." I replied jumping up to sit on the counter. "Only took me half an hour for a change."
"Suppose it does make a change to the usual hour you spend." She finished her coffee, grabbed her bag and jacket and asked if I wanted a lift.
"Please, then that way I won't get lost." I jumped down, grabbed my bag and left the house.
-----
I spotted Mikey instantly when I got out of my mums car. I smiled and thought: time for part one. I started walking over in their direction and when I figured nobody else was going to get in my way I put my head down and walked straight into Mikey. I smiled when I felt his hands on my arms.
"Woo, careful there." He pulled me away enough to look at me, "are you okay?"
"I'm so sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going, sorry. It's my first day, I'm sorry. I'll be more careful next time." I blurted out seeing Frankand Gerard looking speechless out of the corner of my eye.
"You're new in town aren't you?" Mikey asked me.
"Yeah, orginally from England as you can tell from my accent." I replied then added, "again I'm sorry but I have to go." I walked off and could hear the guys talking about what just happened.
-----
The lessons went by in a blur and soon enough it was lunch time. I grabbed my salad and started searching for a table and spotted Leighton and Scarlet and started heading in their direction; when I wasinches away I started humming Sabotage by The Beastie Boys. Scarlet stopped what she was saying and watched me sit down at the table; Leighton finally clicked what song I was humming and spoke to me.
"That's Sabotage by The Beastie Boys isn't it?" She asked me. I nodded in reply and she added, "good song choice."
"Thanks." I simply said in return. Realisation sunk into Scarlet quicker.
"You're the new girl from England." She stated, "what's your name again?"
"Izabelle butmost people just call me Iz or Belle." I reminded her.
"Which do you prefer?" Leighton asked me just as Scarlet was about to say something.
"At the moment I like Belle." I answered her smiling.
"We'll call you Belle then." She replied smiling at me. I smiled in return. Just then the bell went for lessons. "We'll see you around then Belle." Leighton mentioned as she got up and left with Scarlet.
I walked into Englishonly to have Leighton bump into me as she was trying to find a space. She looked at me, smiled and took me to the two only empty seats left (which were on either side of Mikey). I sat down and messed with my bag until Mikey started talking to me.
"Hey, aren't you the English girl who bumped into me this morning?" He asked while turning to face me.
"Yeah that's me. Again, I'm sorry for walking into you." I answered him.
"Don't be sorry," he smiled. "I'm Mikey anyway."
"Belle. Short for Michael?" I replied.
"Yeah, sort for Izabelle by any chance?" He asked me still smiling.
"Yeah but only my dad calls me Izabelle." I told him.
"It's a cute name and unique. Not a lot of people have Izabelle as a name." He lied, I knew quite a few people with Izabelle as a name.
"Yeah, my mum likes being individual and obviously she wanted it to carry on with me by giving me a long name." I told him while writing some things down.
"Why what's your full name?" He asked me but before I could answer Leighton spoke up.
"Belle, what's the answer to question five?" She asked me in a harsh whisper.
"He uses short, dramatic sentences to build the tension." I replied and then we all lapsed into silence.
By the end of the lesson we hadn't spoken anymore so I was surprised when he actually said "see you tomorrow". Then again we do have to stick to the plan.
"How do you know him?" Leighton asked me after he disppeared.
"I thought you were listening to us." I looked confused.
"I was but I don't believe the whole bumping into him thing." She replied while stopping outside a classroom.
"Well you better believe it because that's what happened." I told her and walked into the classroom.

Art was how it was before and this time I spotted where Gerard was sat - at a table by himself in the corner away from other people. It passed quickly while talking to Scarlet.
Of course afterwards we went to the Coffee House and I found Mikey sat by the computers. We sat on the couches and I let them fill me in on everything. I kept glancing over at Mikey throughout and whenever I did he was always looking over the top of the book he was reading at me.
As soon as we got into Scarlet's car to go home Leighton started speaking, "I think he likes you Belle."
"Who might like her?" Scarlet asked us while driving towards mine.
"This guy from our English who was in the Coffee shop then." Leighton informed her briefly.
"He doesn't. I mean why would he?" I asked them knowing the first part was a lie.
"Why wouldn't he? Your skinny, pretty and smart; also your British." Scarlet told me.
"Every guy has a soft spot for British girls." Leighton added.
"Because that makes me feel so special. Thanks." I told them while smiling.
"You love us really." She replied. I just laughed, Scarlet pulled up outside mine.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I told them and got out of Scarlets' car. I went into my house and called out. "Sorry I'm late, I went to the Coffee House with some new friends."
I walked into teh kitchen to get something to eat and stopped halfway across the room. I turned to face the table to see my mum and Mikey sat there.
"Oh. Hey." I smiled while walking over to the table.
"Belle, Mikey came by to drop some flowers off for you." My mum explained his presense.
"As a way to say sorry about what happened." He added to my mums explaination.
"Oh thanks. Well I'll put them in my room, hopefully they'll add some colour to it." I said picking up teh vase of Lilys' off the table.
"Okay, anyway I have to go to work so no later than ten please." She told us and left.
"From the sounds of it my mum already likes you and according to Leighton you like me." I told him, smiling at him and leaving the room.
"Maybe I do," he whispered into my ear, stole the flowers out of my hands and running upstairs. "Let's pick a film to watch then."
"I say Dawn of the Dead." Running upstairs behind him giggling.
"I may actually agree with you for once." We both started laughing.
