They never noticed her as she snuck back into her room, faking a smile. They? Her parents.
She sat on her bed a cried as her parents invited their friends round and then left her alone again.
She crept around the empty house, pretending she wasn’t alone, collapsing on the floor.
She looked across the room and imagined her friends, the ones she didn’t have, standing there, talking to each other.
She beckoned them over.
They ignored her.
They ignored the violent almost suffocating sobs.
They ignored her.
The people she’d created in her mind were ignoring her.
They didn’t care about her anymore.
No one cared about her.
Bullied at school, abused at home and ignored by the ‘people’ she thought she could trust.
She crawled under the dining room table and fell asleep. She never woke up.
Her ghost believes her imaginary friends killed her. She’d argue with the science… the truth… if she were alive.
