“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, dear Mo-om! Happy birthday to you!” The cake was set down on the kitchen table, the family of faces gathered around it alight with anticipation and the eerie glow of the birthday candles. The mother that the little party was for smiled widely, took a deep breath, and blew out all the candles, leaving the family in the dark, cheering for another year gone by.

“Happy birthday, Mommy!”

“Thank you, honey!”

“Yeah, Mom, happy birthday.”

“Thank you, Caleb.”

The father switched on the kitchen lights so that they could take the candles out and cut the cake. The littlest girl, Ellie, picked out the little candles one-by-one and laid them on a napkin, getting chocolate all over her little fingers.

“You’re making a mess, Ellie,” the oldest boy, Caleb, said, taking a second napkin and wiping his baby sister’s hands clean.

“Happy birthday, Margot,” Brendon said, leaning over his wife and kissing her cheek. The woman smiled.

“Thank you, Bren. I couldn’t ask for a better way to spend my 35th birthday than with my husband and my kids. And chocolate cake, of course!” They both laughed, then kissed again.

“Get a room,” their twelve-year-old Caleb muttered under his breath, making both parents chuckle and turn their attention back to the cake. Brendon cut it and served a piece to each member of his family, then himself. They sat down and enjoyed the birthday treat, all in a happy mood.

Later that night, the married couple sat up in bed, Margot reading a Jack London novel, Brendon reading that day’s newspaper. It was quiet, but a calm, easy-going quiet that could only occur between two people that were content to just be with their partner. When both people became to tired to read another word, they put aside their reading materials and switched off the lights. Snuggling together beneath the covers, they had one last conversation before saying goodnight.

“How was your birthday, Mar-Bear?” Brendon asked, wrapping his arms around her and holding her close.

Margot smiled at her old nickname, one that she hadn’t been able to kick since high school, at least not with Brendon. “Great. Everything I could possibly want.”

“Did you like your gifts?”

“Well,” she said, smiling as she drew out her response. “Ellie’s handprints on that mug were adorable. I’m going to have my tea in it every morning.”

“And…” Brendon hugged her tighter, burying his face in her hair.

“And Caleb’s gift cards were so thoughtful. One for every place that I frequent. He’s so thoughtful.”

“And…” Brendon urged her to the last gift, what he saw as the most important, and what he was seeking the approval on.

“And I’m sure the chocolate-covered coffee beans will taste delicious…” Margot chuckled, knowing she was torturing Brendon with her games.

“Margot,” Brendon whined, covering her face with kisses. She laughed, trying to push him away.

“Okay, okay,” she giggled. “And you know the best gift of all was getting to move back here to Nevada to be closer to our parents.”

“Good. I’m glad you’re happy, honey.” Brendon laid his head back against the pillow, allowing Margot to lay her head on his chest.

“Hey, Bren?”

“Yeah, babe?”

“I love you.”

“Love you too, babe.” Brendon said sleepily, stifling a yawn. “Always have, and always will.” With that, both Margot and Brendon nodded off to sleep, so they could wake up in a few hours and spend another day as a married couple, continuing their future as a family.

Oh...Oh, my God...That, my readers, was the last chapter. The finale. The end. THE END. The story's over. I cannot believe it. I started this story about six months ago, and I feel like in the span of that six months, I've become a much stronger writer than I was, and I feel like this story and you guys' comments and reviews helped me with that. I'm always growing, learning, maturing, and it's the people that read my stuff that gets me through it all. You guys loved this story, and I loved writing this story, and I feel like this is a good place for it to finally draw to a close.

And yes, I do mean a CLOSE. I've seen a couple of pleas for a sequel? Umm...I'm sorry, I just can't. I used to stand by the old adage that I cannot write sequels. Then, just for kicks, I wrote a sequel to the first story of mine to really get a significant response. Needless to say, I should have stuck by what I said before. The first story should have been left where it ended, and the sequel was just a bunch of mindless drabble that I started and had no choice but to finish. But you guys, this is a 31-chapter story. Please tell me it was somewhat satisfying, at least to the point that I don't have to write a whole new installment? Ah, me. You can please some of the people all of the time, or you can please all of the people some of--You get it.

[INSERT DISCLAIMER HERE] I do not own Brendon Urie or Spencer Smith. If I owned either one of them...Well, let's just say I wouldn't have a whole lotta time on my hands to be writing about it, ye dig? And I don't own any of the other real people that have appearances in this story. However, Margot, her parents, and the characters that I made the non-fictional people into are completely my own. This is, obviously, not based on any kind of true life or real events.

Okay, guys...Well, this is it. Really. Be on the look-out for some new stuff to be coming your way soon, or go check out some of the other stories I have going right now. I have two active MyChem stories that need reading, so go ahead and do that, if the spirit so moves you. Go post some final farewell comments. Okay, guys, for the last time: OverAndOutxx
